According to a recent report from Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, releasing on November 10, 2020, will not only run in 4K on the PS5, but also with 60 frames and in full 4K resolution
"That’s not all however, as it seems that the PlayStation 5 version will take advantage of some of the console’s more unique features, such as “the fast SSD technology to shorten loading times and the Tempest Engine for better sound.”
Looking forward to the state of the art, 3D sound we can expect in PS5 titles
So after all that trash talking both ps5 and series x are 4k/60FPS machines. One company went for raw power the other went for enough power go easily do 4K/60FPS while also improving SSD features
Enjoy the console you like it looks like now both are worth owning moving forward
Both consoles are excellent and a cumulation of hard work from teams of engineers that dedicated years to putting forward the best possible boxes that the technology allowed.
Let's just appreciate how much of a leap we will get rather than who's got that very slight edge
Framerate, textures, average resolution and overall effects and post processing. There are a lot of things that can be compared. In the 360/PS3 era games used to run at similar resolutions, but you could always find differences, some more significant than others.
Perhaps making a console that is extremely easy to develop for so as many devs told DF has its benefits. Or maybe PS5 isn't nearly as under-powered as some would have us believe.
There is a lot of misinformation and smear tactics going around for the PS5. We'll see the truth of what all those devs were speaking about, in the years to come.
Some people seem to think that a difference of ONLY 16% in GPU (MUCH less than the difference of almost 50% between the Ps4 Pro and the One X, and we all know how that went.) it's going to equate to the ps5 doing ONLY 1080p at 30fps and the Series X 4k at 120fps.
Unfortunately, some believe teraflops translates into real results all the time. Some have actually said 60fps on XSX means 42fps on PS5. Not so much with this game.
"More goes into a video game than just resolution and frame rate, there are loads and loads of things that can be effect by the power of a console, draw distance, number of assets etc"
I 100% agree. But the man said the power is " **much** **bigger*** than 16% " The PS5 and Series X have a "much bigger" power gap than 16% compared to the Series S and we see what the difference is there. . . If what he said was true, res and frames would be reflective of this.
I think its a stretch to think that this quantifies either. If a game is 4k 60 on one next gen system its pretty likely its going to be the same on the other.
Its the actual settings that might deviate slightly from one to the other and like this gen, we'll need someone with a magnifying glass to spot them. Not that they wont be overblown one way or the other.
dont worry the folks at DF will have their x400 x500 and x800 zoom to show you differences, you will never really have two consoles side by side in living room on 2 tvs buy hey with x800 zoom mabey you can see an extra blade of grass
And if something fails to impress the way DF wishes they will write it off as time of day or some other such nonsense. This is why if I want an analysis I trust my own eyes. If I really require an outside opinion I will look to NXGamer.
Father_Merrin - The zoom feature is reserved for PlayStation titles only. Remember when they went to the highest building SM, then zoomed down to the pedestrians? I was thinking 'wtf are you doing highlighting this?'.
Alex was also very apologetic for the halo debacle and didn't go as hard as he should've on CRYSIS.
Sony 1st party will make fools of them all as usual.
Cross gen games should be identical, next gen or next gen patched games like say cyberpunk with raytracing will be far more interesting to see and nxgamer will see, without bias or bullshit.
"I think its a stretch to think that this quantifies either."
Why would it be a stretch to say that this proves that the PS5 isn't as underpowered as some have said in the past? People were saying that the PS5 would struggle to do 4k/60fps. Remember when people laughed when it was revealed that the unreal 5 demo was 1440p/30fps? People assumed that the Series X would be able to run it at double the frames if the demo ran on the system.
"If a game is 4k 60 on one next gen system its pretty likely its going to be the same on the other"
This was never there consensus, at least not until the series s was revealed.
I've been said that the difference wouldn't not be as huge as people were making it out to be from the jump. The Power difference is even less than Pro vs One X, but that didn't stop people from going on about a 'ps4's worth' of a difference.
It seems like a case of diminishing returns the GPU seems important but the difference of power at the level of both the systems is minimal at this point and realistically in a few years we may get pro consoles to help bridge the gap between PC and consoleaking the power of these systems unimportant as they will max out every game for the next two years at least without much in the way of performance issues but that really depends on how these systems age.
The push to prioritise other resources in the ps5 may change the end user experience more than raw GPU power both valid and great approaches
Yeah I think the difference is turning shadow detail from Ultra to High, or from High to Medium between Xbox Series X and PS5. If the SSD and IO troughput is used better on PS5, then it's the same or better FPS / details for PS5. But regardless, the Digital Edition PS5 offers the best performance for buck for 4K TV owners by a large margin.
the 12tf v 10tf was a no starter from the beginning, Cerny has added much more to it when all working together might possibly have same performance as series X and imo in open world games might even be better due to quicker ssd access. ive read an article that RT will arrive later on xbox with a patch i want to see which does RT better
With MS having the marketing deal with Ubi for Valhalla (never makes sense to me why Ubi always does this with MS when their games have always sold better on PS4) I'm pretty sure this was one thing they, Ubisoft, couldn't just come out and say about the PS5 version. It's funny that after the pre-orders have gone live for Xbox this info finally comes out. And, it seems like it will have even more features than the Xbox version due to the Tempest Engine and DualSense. I hope Ubi really takes advantage of the SSD capabilities in both systems. The loading times in Odyssey were atrocious.
I'm trying to see what both can accomplish with next gen only games not how cross gen games run. I expect no less than 4k60 on cross gen games for both next gen consoles.
That’s great and all. But the game still looks like crap honestly. 4&K 60fps won’t change that. If it’s anything like the bloated, cut and paste areas with not real variety like Odyssey which it appears to be. It’s most definitely a pass for me.
I wish people wouldn't obsess over 4k. 1440p or 1800p with a sharpening filter looks just as good as native 4k. Game could have looked a lot better had they not been pressured into native 4k60.
we are talking about consoles here and most people play on their TV! there's no 1440p TV or ultrawide TV out there, at least not in the mainstream so, the talks are going to be about 4K or 1080p. not doing native 4K for next-gen is DUMB from marketing point of view
Demon's Souls Remake is 4k 60fps too. They hold the bar for next gen games so far. Have you seen the 4k 60fps gameplay and how it looks? Nothing looks like that... yet
So which console is better for multiplats again? Sounds like PS5 will perform exactly the same in addition to better sound, faster loading and of course added immersion via the Dualsense...
The problem with misinformation like 'PS5 can't doe 4K/60" is that someone people won't update their understanding of the reality. I'll bet years from now we'll still be hearing PS5 can't do 4K/60.
Agreed. But they will not fix it. AC will remain a grindy filler game series made specifically for money, with no desire to craft something interesting, exciting, or worthwhile. But then again, this applies to everything Ubisoft is making going forward as well.
Yep, there's a smear campaign against PS5 trying to make people believe it's underpowered. Not sure who's spreading it, MS or fanboys. PS5 will be great :)
To me the switch is underpowered, but the innovation nintendo brings with hardware and games makes people buy it. I do get the age old side by side war, but was there ever one between xbox ps4 and switch where people went ..im never gonna buy a switch no. People want their zelda, mario fix. The power difference of what 16% or whatever arent gonna make people not buy a ps5. The 3d audio and controller will bring something different and that's what people like, throw in some great single player games and you know the answer. Im not sure about yhe io and ssd yet n comparison to the nextbox , but we will surely know come release.

Either way, great news for PS5.
I think this is a translation error. Smeagol says PS5 can't handle 4K/60 fps, and we know he doesn't like.
