ATI DirectX 10.1 support wins market share and a (brighter) future
Recent times have seen a shift in the video card market. Whilst nVidia were for some time heralded as leaders in the market in terms of performance and image quality, the ball has recently shifted into ATI’s possession with the HD4xxx series of graphics cards, which have managed to win 5% market share over previous reports.
This shift can be accredited to a number reasons. The first of these (in terms of gaming markets, at least) is the "bang for buck" factor – with with ATI HD4850 consistently outperforming nVidia cards in the same price range. Whilst good value represents one reason – the fact that ATI’s latest range of cards offers complete support for DirectX 10.1 is another bonus which may be swaying consumers.
