Disgaea 6 Is Nintendo Switch Exclusive Only in The West; It's Coming to PS4 in Japan

Today Nintendo and NIS America announced Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but there is more to the story.

Since it's not stated in the article, (at at least wasn't at the time of typing this) A representative of NISA told Gematsu “At this time, we don’t have further comments on whether this title will release on other platforms outside of Switch. Any future updates would be announced on our official channels, so please keep an eye out!”

Which leads me to believe it will be a timed exclusive in the west.

That's the most noncommittal statement I've ever heard, but if it was a timed exclusive, then we went back by years in transparency. Nowadays, we get clear indication immediately when an exclusive is timed at least in small print. This was presented as an exclusive, period, with no small print.

It will come to PS4 in the west I'm later I'm sure. I doubt it only stays in Japan.

Interesting move, im pretty sure the switch has been good to the Disgaea franchise. But i didnt realize PS platforms underperformed enough for them to forego a western release altogether.

Whatever it is, hopefully its just a timed exclusivity window. I love the disgaea franchise and would love to play it on my PS4.

nah not moneyhat disgaea 5 in ps4 is a major flop outside Japan NIS stated few year ago whereas Disgaea 5 Complete has been fairly succesfull so i can understand NIS not publishing Playstation version outside japan, but i think D6 maybe will sold less than D5C since that was launch title on switch where people still starving for game on it.

I can't tell if it's exclusive in the west due to the immediate console releases overshadowing it and the need to buy the PS4 version, or the fact that software sales are higher on switch then any other platform. Either way, NIS is a sinking ship of a developer and they've barely produced anything of worth this gen. I don't hate their games, but they can't keep producing what they are doing now and expect the profits and yields to be steady.

I like how Nintendo fans need to pretend to have exclusives so this is what they point to, a timed regional exclusive lol. Maybe buy less $60 digital ROM collections and you'll send a message that you want more good new games.
