Arkane's Deathloop delayed to Q2 2021

From Eurogamer: "Deathloop, the next game from Prey and Dishonored developer Arkane Studios, has been delayed until Q2 2021.

It was previously set to arrive in time for Christmas on PlayStation 5 and PC (and be a timed console exclusive for Sony's next-gen machine)."

Hope this isn't a sign of more launch games for PS5 getting delayed.

I hope the consoles aren't going to get delayed. Both companies seem terrified to commit to prices or release dates. At some point the "they're each waiting on the other company" excuse dries up. It's getting harder for me to believe that companies of this size are really waiting this close to a major product launch without knowing what the price is going to be.

MS already confirmed the console is coming out in November when they delayed Halo, I mean, it could still change, but they already said the month, we still don't have prices unfortunately, that is true.

Yeah, I know, and that is a good sign. Also the controller leak for them is a good sign. However, they also won't confirm a date or price, and they won't even confirm the Xbox Series S (Lockhart), which is maybe one of the worst kept secrets in the game industry in the last few years. I mean, unless that version is coming out later, you'd think they'd want people to know more about it.

I think they know what the price is going to be, maybe they want to control the messaging. Everyone remembers the order of how last gen went when Sony announced a cheaper price. I'm guessing Sony wants to repeat that and MS wants to avoid that.

Thats what I'm thinking, we're all wondering who's gonna go first with price of the consoles but I'm starting to think it's actually who's gonna be first to announce a console delay.

I seriously doubt either console will get delayed if RROD couldn't delay a console you best believe both will be released this holiday season. Neither company will let the other have open market all to themselves

November is when both consoles will release. XSX $599 XSS $399. Ps5$499 all digital$399 is my guess

Do not think they will as Series X pre-orders are rumoured to be going live in the next week or so.

Whoever announces the price of the console first, should be expecting the opposition to undercut.

Well...it's not a first party title so ps5 is still fine.

Not to mention this kind of thing happens every single year. Late in the year games always get delayed to the following year.

I think what OP means is that the already announced first party games are coming. It's not a situation like halo where s big first party established IP is delayed

No doubt without 3rd party support consoles can't survive and we know both ps5 and XSX will be supported well. We should expect more delays simply because game development is not back to normal and won't be for a while

There have been games which have had their announcements delayed due to covid and delays in production. We haven't heard about them because of the way people act whenever a delay happens. End of next year is probably going to be pretty heavy with games that were supposed to release earlier next year or with the launch of the consoles.

It is inevitable that games get delayed. I would rather see delays then ship garbage and expect me as a consumer to buy the garbage.

I may be alone in this, but my backlog is crazy , has been for about a year now.

not to mention I still need to get Control :ultimate edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Avengers and BoTW2.

i already have a ps4 pro, switch and a gaming pc. my backlog is crazy but i still anticipate certain games and buy them anyway to support the companies i like. For instance, I bought cyberpunk 2077 off of gog storefront on pc weeks ago. 100% of the money goes to cd project red.

As for arkane, i bought their dishonored series on sale recently in a bundle

Strange as it may sound, but I'm actually interested in finding out if/what the collectors piece is.
I loved Corvo's mask from D2 and still have the tarot cards from D1, both on display shelf
