Fable - Official Announce Trailer

Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places.

Lore1378d ago (Edited 1378d ago )

Dude, YES. Odd that there was no gameplay though

Double_O_Revan1378d ago

Which tells you a lot about how far along they are. Dont expect this game any time soon.

RpgSama1378d ago

Don't forget to wait for E3... I mean, the end of the year, what a dumpster fire of an event, the only gameplay footage was HALO and it looked like trash, is that supposed to be 12 Tflops? You could see pop in from the first seconds of footage.

AngelicIceDiamond1378d ago

@Sama Let someone like me make the assessment. Someone like you is incapable of being objective and logical considering you're a fanboy. You're excluded to have an opinion.

Fable 4 is said to take awhile for its release. Everything we saw was in it was in engine. But don't expect this game soon. Maybe late next year early 2022 unfortunately.

Marquinho1378d ago

I hated the lack of gameplay through the whole event...

I know the games are there but these are the kind of choices I don't understand from MS. They've failed to build hype on games with their events.

I also don't expect Forza to come later than GT... but no gameplay was shown either.

There must be a change on how they're carrying these events. I'm sure games will be awesome, but how they present them is awful.

fiveby91378d ago

Glad they will make another Fable game. I hope it turns out to actually release compared to the previous Fable game which was canceled. But I wouldn't expect to see this for 2 - 4 years.

darthv721378d ago

Im just super glad they brought it back.

RgR1378d ago

Which is the real tragedy. Hopefully it won't get canceled this time around.

medman1378d ago

@agen00revan
You could say that about a lot of games at that showcase, unfortunately. I was shocked to see "early in development" pop on screen for Forza Motorsport. Microsoft flubbed another one. I was sure I was buying both a ps5 and series x this holiday....I'm pretty sure I still will, but only because I skipped xbox one this gen so gamepass should cover me with stuff to play, but as far as new titles go it's looking pretty bleak, apparently even a good while into 2021. I mean it's great Hellblade is utilizing Unreal Engine 5, but that engine isn't going to be finalized until late in 2021 so when exactly will we see Hellblade? Certainly early 2022, at best? Yikes.

porkChop1378d ago

The game has been in development for years. If it's still a couple years away this must be a big game.

NecrumOddBoy1377d ago

Gameplay + No window + Optimized for XSX really makes me wonder what the hell MS's vision is.

ForwardDude1377d ago (Edited 1377d ago )

@AngelicIceDiamond You are the fanboy and you are rude also.

Like @RpgSama said, Halo Infinite gameplay looked like an Xbox One X game at best. There was obvious popin in the background during the elevator part, the textures of the mountain were atrocious all around in the 4k trailer. Sorry, but you are the fanboy if you try to defend Microsoft, they are the one braging about having 17,7% more Tflops and that would make ALL the difference.

Games1st1377d ago

Both saving stuff for price drop.

jbull1377d ago

@AngeliclceDiamond "In Engine" seriously? You should be old enough by now to know that in engine compared to actual running gameplay on the hardware are 2 different things. We've had enough E3 reveals with that term to smell the BS by now.

Ratchet751377d ago

At least now we understand why Phil Spencer said there won't be exclusive games on xsx for the next few years.
It's not because of how much he cares about gamers. It's because of Gamepass engagement and the simple fact that they don't have anything ready for 2021.

Medium, Halo infinite, cross x fire, Everwild are games that were developed for Xbox one.
Judging by how little they have shown I would say Hellblade 2, Fable and Avowed are at least 2 years away.
We know inxile have just started working on a game using UE5.
Don't expect any news from The initiative studio before next year as their new project has only been green lighted by Microsoft early this year.

Bigman4k1378d ago (Edited 1378d ago )

Man that game probably aint coming out for at least 2 or 3yrs from now thats why there was no gameplay

deleted1378d ago

This is the reason I would buy an XBox Series X as a secondary system, so guess I'm waiting a couple years. I do hope it turns out really good! PS5 for me this Fall though!

Snookies121378d ago

Yeah, I really hope Fable turns out extremely well! I loved the series, despite its shortcomings. I'm actually very interested in Halo Infinite as well. I did expect a bit better in the graphical department for it, and there were some pop-in issues and whatnot from the reveal. However, if they can fix those up before launch. It looks like it'll be a ton of fun. I haven't bought an Xbox around launch since the 360, and that probably won't change for Series X. But honestly, I am considering picking one up a little bit down the road if they can keep some great exclusives coming.

RgR1378d ago

I will personally hold off until I get a better sense of the launch games for ps5. But at least I know they will have real exclusives I can't play anywhere else. So I'll have to buy it anyways.

Wait and see approach for me for both systems ....especially considering the unknown price tag.

TGGJustin1378d ago

I've been saying this game was further off than some people were making it out to be. They were still building this team as of last year. People saying 2020 or 2021 have no idea how game development works.

chiefJohn1171377d ago

Not really this game 2+ years away

Sunny123451377d ago

Only this game can make me buy an xbox. I loved the previous ones.

NovusTerminus1377d ago

The studio got their location in November on 2017, then had to start pre-production throughout 2018 so I am surprised they even did a teaser trailer.

At long last I am so happy about this. Best Xbox announcement today for me <3

RpgSama1378d ago

Dude, everybody knew it was coming for years and they showed this? A 15 seconds CG trailer to end the show, this was your mic drop reveal?

AngelicIceDiamond1378d ago

Wasn't CG how do you feel about Horizons reveal? Very similar reveals wasn't it?

RpgSama1378d ago

Dude, that was CG, it's not even a question.

Skate-AK1378d ago

@AngelicIceDiamond That is like saying the Elder Scrolls 6 trailer wasn't CG.

1378d ago
TheColbertinator1377d ago

The hell I care about that? It is my favorite Xbox franchise and I'm ecstatic it is coming and confirmed. Been waiting years for it and I will happily wait a couple more to return to Albion.

NewEnds01861377d ago

Can some people just be happy without people like you being ignorant for no other reason then to be a dick?

King_Noctis1377d ago

"Dude, everybody knew it was coming for years and they showed this?"

Did you really know that it was really coming?

"A 15 seconds CG trailer to end the show, this was your mic drop reveal? "

Didn't you watch the whole show and see they announced that more events will come soon?

rainslacker1377d ago

For me it was the location scouting video announcement for HB2. It's been the burning question on everyone's mind....where will this game take place....because that's somehow important to the story or something.

Anyhow, seriously and not to just be a jacka**, I liked the Medium trailer. While it wasn't an announcement, I was pretty impressed with the idea.

-Foxtrot1378d ago

The main game I was interested in seeing from this show...and that was it.

This is going to be a long way off yet.

Lore1378d ago

Same, but for those getting the series x though, Avowed looks to be great as well given Obsidian’s ambitions and track record. I agree the Fable fantasy setting is more up my alley, but I love me some medieval backdrop as well!

Bigman4k1378d ago (Edited 1378d ago )

😒😒😒

RgR1378d ago

Avowed also looks some ways away. No gameplay.

phoenixwing1378d ago

avowed and fable are what i wanted to see. however i wanted to see more out of fable at the very least something to show a character or story premise at all.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro1378d ago ShowReplies(2)
RaidenBlack1378d ago

Could've showed a bit more.
They didn't miss out the staple humor though.

RgR1378d ago

Glad they kept that. Loved the gargoyles in Fable 2.

Fable – What the Heck is Going On?

Announced in 2020, Playground Games' open-world action RPG has seen sporadic updates and departures but still no release date.

gamingbolt.com
PhillyDonJawn11d ago

I expect it to be released by 2026

Sonic188111d ago (Edited 11d ago )

I expect it to release by the time the next Xbox releases. Can that be 2026? Sure

DOMination-11d ago

You could say the same for any number of games that were stupidly announced during pre-production. Elder Scrolls 6 & Perfect Dark are current examples, Blade is another recent one and in the past Mass Effect Andromeda and Cyberpunk 2077 come to mind.

I don't think this game is in any trouble. For a start, Playground Games are one of the few under MS Studios that actually have a track record of delivering on time and with quality. We got a trailer last year and I'd fully expect there to be something more substantial at the next showcase in the summer.

No dramas here - just another victim of Microsoft's incompetence. They simply had to announce several games way too early because they had nothing else to talk about.

Michiel198910d ago

how are they a victim when they are clearly being given enough time? They haven't set any release date, haven't had to show any trailers, how is that being a victim? You even say yourself that you think it's not in trouble.

MrBaskerville10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

TESVI was mostly announced to stop people from asking. Like how they gave us a roadmap of first Starfield, then TES then Fallout. So people keep asking whether they'll do another one or not.

But Fable and Perfect Dark was defineately too early.

Tody_ZA11d ago

The same thing that happens to any project when you announce it far too early. Perfect Dark, Fable, The Elder Scrolls 6, Star Wars KOTOR Remake...you actually have to, I don't know, make the game?

I'm fairly confident this game will see the light of day, as Playground have released 5 Forza games of quality and on schedule. Think it was just revealed too early.

Charlieboy33310d ago

The only issue I see is that, as you mentioned, they have only done Forza games. An RPG is completely different requiring completely different facets.

Whole new different open world....not just tracks. Character designs and animations, dialogue, combat systems, quest systems, equipment and inventory managment....the list is very long and none of it falls under their previous experience.

Even with assistance from other studios I believe they are still far off from delivering a complete version of this game.

Xbox is definitely the house of RPGs and it´s getting bigger and better by the day!

Fable will be fantastic!

Marcus Fenix215d ago

I hope to see the following at Microsoft’s June games showcase:

Contraband (3rd party exclusive)
ID Software
Machine Games
The Coalition
Playground
Ninja Theory
The Initiative
Double Fine
Rare

Im sure we won’t see all these studio’s projects but at least 5 of them would be nice.

Sciurus_vulgaris214d ago

I’m surprised Gears 6 hasn’t been announced by the Coalition as of yet. Gears 5 released 4 years and the Coalitions hasn’t another AAA title since then, excluding the co-developed Gears Tactics.

Lightning77214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

Todd hinted at Indiana Jones being at next year's E3.

I heard Contraband is going through some sorta rework. I don't really have much hope for that game at this point in time.

Btw Gears 6 is in full development they took time away to learn Unreal Engine 5. Yeah... If we're going off of Immortals Of Aveum performance. They have allot of work ahead of them.

GhostScholar214d ago

I’m with you, but you had to know that comment wouldn’t be popular here lol

Sonic1881214d ago

The house of western RPGs. There, I fixed it for you

Crows90214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

Not even accurate though. They haven't made a single RPG yet. Starfield is barely an RPG as it is...there's no role picking unlike in elder scrolls games...especially the older ones. No skills...no attributes...just perks.

Imagine baldurs gate 3 where all you get to pick are feats.

Sonic1881214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

Starfield was probably the worse RPG from Bethesda. Especially when it comes to review scores on Steam

https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

https://youtu.be/NuJumZT7Kt...

darthv72214d ago

All games are RPG if you think about it. You play the role of a character and do the stuff required to win the game.

Technically speaking.

Zeref214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

I couldn't be happier about that. I heard even Infinity Ward is working on an RPG. I am hyped af to see what they can do outside of CoD!

Crows90214d ago

What new RPGs has Xbox made recently?

jjb1981214d ago

I played the Fable Legends closed beta and actually kinda liked it. It sucks that it was canceled. I'm definitely looking forward to the new Fable.

Crows90214d ago

So it could have been really good. They lacked vision for the end product.

Barlos213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

Absolutely. I loved FF7 Remake and I've been playing the hell out of FFXVI and BG3 on my Xbox and I can't wait for FF7 Rebirth next February!

Oh hang on, none of them are on xbox are they?

House of the RPG indeed.

Obscure_Observer213d ago

None of the games you mentioned are first party.

Those aren´t even exclusive.

In case you didn´t notice, Fable is an first party RPG among many others in development at XGS.

CappyBlack212d ago

When's the last time Sony released a JRPG; let alone an actual RPG? Outside of 3rd party payouts. I can say the same for virtually every genre that isn't a linear action game or a racing game that doesn't press their competition.

Barlos213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

"None of the games you mentioned are first party.

Those aren´t even exclusive.

In case you didn´t notice, Fable is an first party RPG among many others in development at XGS."

And where in your original post did you mention first party? Regardless of exclusivity, none of the games I mentioned - some of the biggest RPGs around - are on Xbox but you seem to think Xbox is home of the RPG. You have Starfield and...oh, Fable. Wow.

But that's OK, if you want to move the goalposts to make yourself feel better, go right ahead 👍

Also, if you want to talk first party, some would say that Horizon and God of War are action RPGs. I personally don't, but they could be classed as such since they have RPG elements.

Obscure_Observer213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

"And where in your original post did you mention first party?"

This topic is about Ryan Clark from Larian joining Playground Games.

I said, "Xbox is definitely the house of RPGs and it´s getting bigger and better by the day!"

Not idea how you though I was talking about third party games.

"Regardless of exclusivity, none of the games I mentioned - some of the biggest RPGs around - are on Xbox but you seem to think Xbox is home of the RPG."

Xbox as a brand, doesn´t have to own all of the RPG games available in the market to be considered "the house of RPGs". I made that statement because today, Xbox is the brand with more dedicated RPG studios under its wings.

Besides, Phil has a new partnership with SE in place, we already got FFXIV from Yoshi P´s team, I wouldn´t be surprised if FF7R and FFXVI are the next. BG3 is also coming to Xbox this year, it´s not like we ain´t getting that game.

" You have Starfield and...oh, Fable. Wow."

Pentiment
Project Dragon
Towerborne
TESVI
Fallout 5
Avowed
Clockwork Revolution
The Outer Worlds 2

All first party. So now you know.

Like I said, Xbox is undoubtedly the house of the RPG games. You may not like it, but it´s nothing but a fact. Unless of course, you have some actual facts to counter the facts the brought here regarding first party RPG development.

"Also, if you want to talk first party, some would say that Horizon and God of War are action RPGs. I personally don't, but they could be classed as such since they have RPG elements."

You know as well as everybody that those games are action/adventure games with some RPG elements thrown into the mix.

Unfortunately at the moment, Sony is not investing in first party RPGs or RPG studios. Sorry.

Still waiting to see what kind of game fable will be. Hope it has gargoyles...probably not.

Hope you can pick between male or female and choose something else to distinguish yourself during character creation.

Super excited for this and perfect dark...excited to see what they make that is. Don't have any high hopes but maybe MS can prove me wrong. Playground has been their studio for a long time and the initiative is their only new studio

Lightning77214d ago

"Hope you can pick between male or female and choose something else to distinguish yourself during character creation."

That's a staple in most if not all RPG's.

henbayward214d ago

Not these days, it ain't! 🤣🤣

VersusDMC214d ago

This is a good get as Baldur's Gate 3 is highly regarded.

But this has to be a hire for their next game right? Why would Fable need a producer now?

BrainSyphoned214d ago

Because the current producers at Xbox are helping produce some real bangers.... I'm sure Fable is in a great state right now.

Charlieboy333214d ago

Can't wait to see what their '10 year plan' is for Fable.....just like Halo and now Forza. I'm curious to see just how badly they fuck this up with online focused, drip fed content, design and gameplay. Because I know it's going to be nothing like the previous games and anyone expecting that is in for a nasty surprise.

Popsicle214d ago

I really am hoping against hope that you are wrong, but I think you are probably right. Unfortunately

Fable II - A Fantasy Series at Peak Performance

Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.

Crows90313d ago

They gotta bring back those gargoyles!

Dudeson313d ago

I'd love to play it again, this time on pc though. Forever waiting on that pc port.

GaboonViper313d ago

Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.

got_dam313d ago

Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.

cthulhucultist313d ago

Funny story: Fable 3 had a funny way of keeping the promises you made in the first half of the game and having enough money to defeat the darkness.

You only had to collect enough money to buy 2 stores in a busy market district. You then raise the prices to maximum and you turn xbox 360 internal clock 99 or more years ahead.

The next time you load the game, all the rents from the 99 years are collected immediately.

But yes I agree that 3 was the weakest of the three.

Demetrius312d ago

I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh
