Have to wait a bit longer. Earlier today, Mafia: Definitive Edition developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K issued the following statement: “Mafia: Definitive Edition will now release worldwide on September 25.
I think the developers have been pretty good the last few months getting the games and DLC out as planned. I do wonder if we will see issues next year as there are just some parts of the development process that do not work as well in a virtual settings. Most of the recent releases were well into production when lockdown hit.
Stop setting release dates if you can’t live up to the promise. Set a release date few months prior to possible release, that way you have more accuracy, with less chances of things going wrong during development.
When I worked at Sierra I used to joke with the team that as soon as one is announced add six months. That way you have a more realistic expectation and people will not be disappointed if it arrives before that. The issue is that corporations set the date and say things like we need a AAA release for Summer 2020. What do we have? They see one well into production and say to the team ok will you have it by this date? They usually say I think we can do that as long as no complications arise. Date is announced, marketing machine starts, and the team has the fall back to say hey 'complications arose" and we need another month, two months, etc.
It was only announced not too long ago. I get the whole world is kind of a mess at the moment, but its still disappointing. The unfortunate thing is, I still wouldnt be surprised with another Cyberpunk delay. Or one of the new consoles being pushed.
I think there could be more delays coming down the line. You have PAX Online and some other events to come and companies will be trying to hype things up as they do but in a year like this there could be even more challenges as the Holidays will have their usual massive demand so there is going to be even more pressure to get things out. Think of this; we still have not had a Call of Duty trailer and usually by now we have had not only a trailer but E3 comments from those who saw and played it.
Be nice if they would fix mafia 2 de holy crap what a turd. After the newest patch the game just sets there and loads. I gave it 20 minutes yesterday and still nothing . Hopefully mafia 1 is better
Yeah it does get a bit repetitive but the story is great and if it worked technically I’d be happy to play it. Hopefully since Mafia 1 is a full remake it won’t be as buggy as mafia 2 definitive edition

I never played the first Mafia game I saw it in a thrift store for $8 on Xbox I should have grabbed it.
