"Mafia 3 Definitive Edition was released on the 19th May 2020 on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, it is the sequel to Mafia 2 and is set in New Orleans, in the fictional city of New Bordeaux during 1968." Nic @ Thumb Culture
Shaz from Pixel Swish: "The Mafia games have always excelled in storytelling and voice acting. Though Mafia 3 faltered in some gameplay aspects, its story and, particularly, voice acting are tremendous."
Mafia III had a great narrative and some truly incredible performances. The gameplay loop had its issues but the story, acting, world and atmosphere don't get nearly enough credit.
First few hours: "This game is incredible!"
Hour 10: "Wait, that's it? I'm going to be doing the same thing over and over for the rest of the game??"
The Humble Black History Month Bundle just launched. It includes Mafia III Definitive Edition, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, and more. As always, a percentage goes to support charity.
Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s 2K Games has canceled an unannounced project from developer Hangar 13, according to people familiar with the decision.
The company, in its earnings statement Wednesday, said it had taken a charge of $53 million, for ending “further development of an unannounced title in its pipeline.”
The project, which was code-named Volt, had gone through multiple iterations since it was first conceived. The current version struggled due to reboots, technological hiccups and challenges caused by Covid-19, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.
These guys really can't catch a break. They put out quality time and again, but their only real breakout was Surge 2.
Now they have a project straight up cancelled.
They're not long for a studio, I feel.
I worked on this project "volt" and "Rhapsody" as well as mafia 3. Trust me volt was a horrible idea that played horribly and had terrible concepts. Rhapsody had great concept but never got far past the initial proving stages.
Little bit of inside knowledge, hangar 13 had more producers than engineers or QA.
While Haden was a nice guy with great ideas, the studio has been mismanaged since the start.
