Burnout Paradise Remastered – Review (Switch) | Sirus Gaming

Erickson: "Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Switch is a solid game. However, being an expensive port of a much cheaper game on other platforms, it’s the best selling point is the fact that you can play this game on the go with no frame rate issues. Which is to say that it also handles pretty well on docked mode. It may not be full HD, but when it runs smoothly as it does, I don’t mind it running at just 720p 60fps."

I hope they go ham on the destruction

TiredGamer77d ago

I hope it’s not another open world snore fest. Burnout 3 was the pinnacle of the series with tight and focused events that didn’t have you pausing to look at a map every 10 seconds.

Nacho_Z77d ago

Totally agree I loved the series then Paradise killed it for me. It was well made but I didn't like it at all. It's the perfect game for simply choosing a race from a list, an open world slows momentum and is a waste of resources.

KwietStorm_BLM77d ago

I loved the hell out of Paradise. Some of the most fun I've had playing with friends, and with the amount active lobbies when it was around, some people liked it. It's not gonna be the same game with every entry forever. Things change. And you honestly can't single out that game as the downfall of the series when we all know EA franchises and studios are always on the chopping block.

Deeeeznuuuts77d ago

Yeah, gotta disagree with you, paradise was actually a fun open world game in a world full of boring open worlds, the online integration was good, the vehicle variety, the road variety, music, the crashes, using the camera to take mugshots! 🙈
That's not saying I wouldn't like a Burnout 3 style game, I'd still enjoy that too but wouldn't mind another open world if they did it right like they did with paradise

KwietStorm_BLM77d ago

You could have just played the races if it's that hard to learn the map.

Nacho_Z77d ago

Did anyone want the map though? Did it push the series forward or kill it? It was the last Burnout game so maybe that answers that question.

TiredGamer77d ago

Absolutely can’t get into Paradise. Have it on multiple platforms and it’s just cumbersome compared to the originals. I want to come home, jump into a few events, and as soon as one is completed, pick another one from a menu immediately. Nice and tight, no filler.

Rebel_Scum77d ago

Nah 2 was the pinnacle. The takedown mechanic slowed down the gameplay too much.

Snookies1277d ago

Agreed. Burnout 2, 3 and Revenge were simply amazing games. Put so much time into them... Paradise was a fun game, for sure. But it definitely lost a lot of the magic when it transitioned to open world.

You can still play Burnout Revenge on Series S/X via backwards compatibility. Still available on the Xbox Store.
Strangely, Burnout 3 isn't backwards compatible.

Rebel_Scum77d ago

Its not available because it got taken down lol.

I’ll see myself out.

How Burnout Paradise bucked the trend and made open-world racing irresistible

Met with derision from existing Burnout-series fans at the time, Burnout Paradise remains arguably the greatest open-world racing game of all time. Here's why.

SullysCigar346d ago

I don't know why - and I know I'm probably on my own here - but I liked Takedown more. I think it was just 'different' enough to feel fresh. I also loved the destruction.

On that note, a new Motorstorm would be nice! All that mud, dust and car pieces flying everywhere blew my mind on PS3 - imagine what they could do now.

NJShadow346d ago

I loved Burnout Paradise, but Burnout 3: Takedown will always be the best game in the series, for me. Burnout 3 is arguably the most fun game ever made, with the greatest licensed soundtrack ever.

EazyC346d ago

I played through the remaster quite recently. It's not as good as I remember, but I think a lot of that is because the "open world" thing was still pretty fresh back then.

I do think there's a gap in the market for a game like Burnout. With the new gen they could really make car damage a huge selling point again.

BrainSyphoned346d ago

Paradise gave me open world burnout before I knew it was a thing.

CPTN MITCHELL346d ago

Burnout paradise remastered and original are my favorite, i got the platinum trophy for both games the nighthawk is my favorite car

Einhander1971346d ago

Personally don't give a shit for open world racers. Give me a new Motorstorm, Split second, Outrun.
