Just noticed there's Cyberpunk 2077 on the list. So it's official now, it will squeeze the Series X. Now that's exciting.

ForwardDude1825d ago

I think by the end, 100% of the games will be optimized for Series X. Just like Xbox One games were optimized for Xbox One and 360 games for Xbox 360.

I wonder when the penny will drop for most gamers?

Increased focus on 1st party. (Proven by the recent acquisitions. Hopefully more definitive proof to come july).
A great subription alternative with access to all 1st party games as standard.
Amazing back compat support that's being furthur enhanced for Series X. I.e increased frame rates, res and hdr.
Full support for Last gen w/ some enhanced games like gears 5. No extra charge.
A massive GPU. A big deal for ps4 during last gen.
Higher frame rate rate targets. Forbiddon West & Ratchet both appear to be 30fps and that's disappointing.
A powerful cpu with sustained power.
A small form factor. Again, another big deal for ps4 last gen.
Full Rdna 2 feature set. Compared to Ps5's limited set. I.e no vrs.
A full terabyte of storage (ps5 0.875) with clear and simple expandability. (Sony are still asking people to wait until they've tested 3rd party drives 😞).
Xcloud if you want it.
Game saves that follow you when swapping to Xcloud or xb1 consoles.

All that off the top of my head. And people will still choose ps5. What will it take for people to truly notice the Series X? Price? Do they need to undercut Sony by a hefty margin? Or will the July reveal be enough to swing it Xboxes way?

RazzerRedux1826d ago (Edited 1826d ago )

The increased focus on first party was absolutely crucial. That is where Sony has simply swept the floor with Microsoft and it hasn't been close. But now that the Initiative and Playground Games are on board fully (along with the others) with some new games we know at least Microsoft has some competition for Sony that wasn't there before.

As for the rest.....I have nearly everything on that list with PS for exclusives and PC for everything else so hard for me envisioning an Xbox in my home. That's just me, but I think it is true for a lot of PC gamers.

But yeah....price is going to be a huge factor as always. It is going to be a hard sell to get 100+ million PS4 gamers to switch ecosystems though especially with Sony continuing to deliver top notch first party from beginning to end of the generation.

@Razzer

I really am neutral. Just speaking as I find it.
lazyboyblue1561 on Xbox
neutronbomb on ps4

Check out my profiles. You'll see I play both equally.

RazzerRedux1825d ago

No idea why you think your purchases and play history affords you a neutral status. Your list above mentions nothing of first party output from Sony where they have shined and Microsoft has much to prove. Somehow, to you, Sony embracing non-proprietary third party SSD solutions is a negative versus Microsoft's "clear and simple" proprietary expandability. That is hilariously biased. You mention xCloud and GP, but ignore PS Now which is in the process of being reengineered with Azure backing. The problem with as you "find it" is that you are actively trying to "find" Xbox advantages and ignoring/downplaying Sony advantages. You are not neutral at all and your play history doesn't change that. That's how "I find it".

lazyboyblue1825d ago

@Razzer Ok. Enjoy whichever one you get.

Yodasfavoritesoda1825d ago

That’s an impressive list. I think if they show well at the first party event and are competitive price wise the casual gamer will definitely take notice and flock to the eco system. Especially if they offer a capable system for 299 in the much rumored series s. People are drawn in by price and they stay because of things on the fantastic list of yours

sushimama1825d ago

Sony's studios are better. They make better games. PS5 will be powerful. The SSD is more than twice as fast. Sony have a proven track record. There is no way in hell, a PS4 fan is going to get an XSX instead of PS5. Not a chance in hell. The Penny is superglued to the ceiling ok. Just being honest. The power difference is negligible in the eyes of the majority of gamers. XSX is going to come in last place again and I firmly believe that. Not through any fault of their own, it's just not as good as what Sony offers. I know you can't see it, but you're part of the minority. Call me arrogant, fine I don't care. I'm being 100% honest here. Sony is just flat out better than MS when it comes to games. The majority think so. You'll see it in the sales next gen too.

Imortus_san1825d ago (Edited 1825d ago )

They sure Are, LMAO, ditched the PS Vita 2 years after, ditch the PS3 the day the PS4 came out, cut the GT5 online because GT6 sales were bad, cut the GT6 online, because the GT Series was very very bad, 19.99€ in less then 6 months, WOW:

What new AAA First Party games did Sony Show for PS4 at E3 2017? E3 2018? no E3 2019, nothing again at E3 2020, in the mean while the company that as "no games" had new of First Party revels in 2017, 2018, 2019 and guess what 2020 will see new Xbox One games.

You are one of the worst sheep I ever saw on N4, and Deep Down you know you are.

lazyboyblue1825d ago (Edited 1825d ago )

My list came from an unbiased eye. I will buy both. I always have done. I'm completely neutral.
The perspective that brings tells me you Sony fans deserve more than what the ps5 bring to the table.
Again off the top of my head;

The console is massive. Which would be fine if it wasn't considerably weaker than the smaller series X.
There seems an over reliance on cartoonist games again. And what was shown was mostly targeting 30 fps. A real kick in the Sack boy. (Sorry).
Miles Morales is a game I'll definitely buy but I must admit it's clearly spider-man 1.5. Even some Sony execs aren't clear on the messaging with that one.
Pad is nice. I prefer the look of the Series X but the dual sense feature truly set it apart. (Disappointed ms don't also have haptics).
3d audio will be great but I hear the Xbox solution isn't far behind and will surprise.
SSD speed. Ok ps5 raw numbers here are impressive. Xbox seem confident XVA will negate this. We will need to wait and see on this.
Weaker cpu and gpu. This is going to hurt Sony on face to face comparisons post launch. They'll be no hiding from digital foundry I fear.
The missing things from the ps5 gpu such as vrs will come in to play later next gen I think. These will be things devs use to squeeze every last drop from series X.

And we're really getting stiffed by the back compat, or lack of, again.

RazzerRedux1825d ago

"My list came from an unbiased eye. I will buy both. I always have done. I'm completely neutral."

lol....really? That list was completely one-sided. Sorry, but I don't buy these claims of being unbiased and neutral. You are downplaying every possible Sony advantage. Promote XSX all you want, but don't claim unbiased. And "buying both" doesn't mean a thing. You cannot buy objectivity.

Imortus_san1825d ago

I Will be picking mine this year, I will play many games from this gen at 4k native with 60fps, and I will also be able to play new games, Next Gen Games, will keep my library.

Plus all those new features that are Xbox Ony.

lazyboyblue1825d ago

Most seem to be choosing their next console based on pure brand loyalty. But Xbox is the logical man's pick based on what has been revealed of both so far.

Imortus_san1825d ago

@lazyboyblue
I Have all Sony Consoles launched until today, all Nintendo, all Xbox, Sega, Nec and many more.

This Generation just proved that it's a waste of money to own then all, if I play 98% of all games in one console and only 2% on the other two, whats the point?

This time I will bet on the best console to play with the best experince and forget the rest, if they ever manage to pull out a ton of great new games that I fell like playing I will think about it.
