Do not buy these CPUs, just about any Ryzen CPU is a much better offering. The only time I'd recommend these CPUs if you're getting an entire build for dirt cheap, or the CPU is less than $50 with the motherboard included. The Ryzen 3100 is better than all these CPUs and it's $99 SRP and you can find some used second gen Ryzen for around $80. With the upcoming Zen 3 those prices will drop even more.

TheGameDrip1773d ago

No doubt, the only reason to get these CPU's are if you're stuck with an older socket and can't afford to swap out the motherboard & CPU.

If you're building a new budget build, you should no doubt go for a newer socket that allows you access to DDR4 RAM and updated processors.

However, if you're stuck with an AM3+ board, getting a second-hand FX series processor could still tie you over for a couple of years while you save for a new build.

Agreed, still a good article. Just not recommended hardware. The budget GPU no 6-pin is a good selection as well. I'd usually recommend a used RX 570, 580, 480 for people getting into PC gaming for the first time because they are generally cheaper and performs better than 95% of budget GPUs, but if you have a bare minimum PSU or don't have anyone to tell you otherwise, then the sub 60w GPUs are your best bet.

Had a Phenom 965 and had it overclocked to 4.6ghz. since it launched and just switched to ryzen 2600x last year. But dam when I upgraded to a 580 with the am3 cpu it still held up pretty well. Great CPU

XxINFERNUSxX1772d ago

AMD FX 9590 Power Wattage – 220 W just plain terrible. Why would you recommended these POS CPUs? If your going back that far go with Intel Ivy Bridge or Haswell. Just hold out for Zen 3 which will be coming soon. Do not buy the new Ryzen 'XT' 3000- refresh, that's a waste of $$.

Buying anything am3 or fm2 now is suicide. I built a fx8350 build a long time ago and i wasnt even happy with the finished product lol.

PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are Not the Future of Gaming, Says US Analyst

For the first few years of this generation, a number of industry analysts argued Sony may need to add first-party games to PS Plus at launch in order to maintain pace with Xbox Game Pass.

The Japanese giant, to its credit, always maintained its position that this was unsustainable. It later added tiers to its subscription offering, providing good value with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium without going all-in like its Redmond rival.

Microsoft has since missed a number of targets with its own service, and has subsequently started releasing games like Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Sony’s console.

Well Sony never said that, the other camp did and we all know how that went.

goken2h ago

Not all know. I am betting those observing this while obscured may have trouble comprehending 😅

dveio21h ago

Back in the day, there were even discussions and I believe statements from Spencer about wether Sony would allow Game Pass on Playstation.

At least for the time being this option seems definitely to be ruled out completely.

Why Portability Still Matters for Nintendo Switch 2—and What We’re Hoping to See

As someone who travels for work I still care about portable systems.

I have found using remote play in a hotel room is an excellent experience in a major city as I've got my console hard wired to a gigabit connection at home however it's not perfect if power trips the console tends to go to the repair section and can't be booted remotely so it's a annoying call to family to power it on for me.

A hotel out of town or regionally though that can cause havok for remote play as I'm always on 5g using it hotel wifi is never good enough for a solid remote play session.

But leaving a stable location and getting onto a plane or train and there's little to no chance of a good experience with remote play thats where something like the switch 2 will really shine for me personally long haul flights are exhausting and one of my most hated things the switch has been invaluable for me and I'll absolutely be upgrading

Nintendo has always done it the best, handheld is in their genes. I do wish their dock could be like an egpu though and it make it much more powerful, it's a bit harder for me to play portable now for some odd reason, love just sitting on the couch with a big screen and controller. And ofc always great to have the portable option and for me it's best for smaller games.

I was hoping for a little more than 540p upscaled

UltimateOwnage1d 6h ago

IMO, 540P upscaled in portable mode to a 1080P screen using DLSS on the tensor cores will likely extend battery life using a lower TDP and provide much better anti-aliasing and similar clarity compared to native 1080P with med/low AA at a higher TDP. It’s just a better way to use a mobile chipset. That’s not a flaw or weakness, it’s a key benefit for the portable design of the platform.

Lol, even the impressive upscaling feature of Switch 2 can now spin to a negative one.

jznrpg4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Switch 1 was hitting 720p and above that with no upscale, so why can’t they have a higher res and upscale it more

repsahj3h ago

@jznrpg
Because of that even the current gen games will now run on switch 2 that looked as good and with decent framerate as the current gen consoles.

Do you watch Nintendo's hands on preview for switch 2? LOL.

badz14917h ago

because aside from Nintendo's own games which have their dedicated fanbase, portability is the only other thing it has going for it. Nintendo will be eliminated faster than xbox if they ever decide to do a dedicated home console again. going the hybrid way is the only way left for them and they are lucky they dominated the portable market all those years ago. imagine the power of the Switch 2 as a console this day and age with the same price as PS5. they will be the laughing stock of the market.
