What Is The Best Video Game Sequel Of All Time?

There are an assortment of video game sequels. Some great but unfortunately some aboslute garbage. But which is the greatest video game sequel of all time?

Mass Effect 2.

Honorable mentions would be: Half Life 2, Portal 2, Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2, Modern Warfare 2, SWTOR II, Halo 2.

Halo2 is by far the worst destroyed the fracnhise since then (if you rember the hype HaLO 1 created back then , halo2 seemed like cheap chinese copy in front of original s quality ) .....

Best sequel IMO is Sonic 2 and obviouslyr Crash 2

I have yet to play ME2, so for me, it was uncharted 2 (miles better than uncharted 1). God of war 2 was also ahead of its time. jumping pillar section was just wow. MGS 3 was pure awesomeness.

It will be TLOU2, but right now is still Uncharted 2. That game was amazing and the biggest leap ever from the first to the second. Huge evolution in every single aspect.

Subjective. Any of them can be the best sequel of all time.

From Mario, Metroid, Contra, Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, Zelda, SF... There's just too many consoles and PC games with too many excellent game sequels to pick one single game.

It's just not possible. I'll just say that I have MANY fond memories of many sequels over the years. And leave it at that

Infamous Second Son and God of War 3 were the weakest parts of their trilogies. Dark Souls 3 probably wasn't as good as the first. Burnout 3 was great though, wish they'd make another one.

I did say number three or third instalment, so that does technically cover any discrepancy.
I had personally completely forgotten about gears of war 3😏 which I feel is the Pinnacle of the series.

Mass Effect 2 will always get my vote there. I know many disagree, but I would argue Red Dead Redemption 2's up there. It had one of the best stories in video games, and arguably the best open world.

But the best in my mind will always be Street Fighter 2. It made us forget the first game like not any sequel could do. Sooo much better and started a franchise that is in the most popular Evo tournaments even today.

The best sequel is not a game, which surpasses the predecessor in every way.
Most sequels are much better than the predecessor, they are maybe even masterpieces.

But if the predecessor is already a true milestone in video game history, a masterwork, setting a new bar in a genre or for all games in general... If that is the case and the sequel can actually MATCH that, then you have the best sequel ever and it's clearly Half Life 2.

The hardest thing is to make a masterpiece after a masterpiece. You can't even find many examples in all of media. Yes, The Godfather 1&2...

No, first we should re-evaluate what a sequel should be before we even mention what a great sequel is. In my Honest opinion I think a game should have everything that was great in the original and with the sequel include all of the original stuff as well as building on top of what it already is. That’s what a great sequel is.
