Xbox games marketing GM Aaron Greenberg has reiterated Microsoft's support for past Xbox console generations' games.
Keiichiro Toyama—the creator and original director of the 1999 Silent Hill—shared his personal thoughts on the recently announced remake by Konami, reflecting on what the project means to him after more than two decades:
“I felt something similar when the game was adapted into a movie. It deeply moved me to see the names of the characters and locations I had created come to life visually, even though I wasn’t directly involved. That wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of the fans and the dedication of the developers who’ve kept the series alive.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the remake evolves this time. With the advanced technology we now have, I’m sure I’ll be surprised by how the game is reimagined. Since the original was built for the first PlayStation, there will naturally be challenges—like the camera and controls—but I’m eager to see bold and creative solutions to those elements.”
Haha Not only is bold and creatively not what the industry wants, it’s not what most people want.
They want to get scammed and pay twice for a thing they already own.
Was the SH2 remake even bold? Or was it more or less just a 1 to 1 over the shoulder remake?
2026 will mark the 25th anniversary of Xbox, and Phil Spencer has teased it as a "really special year" for the games division.
They going to be a he best and biggest publisher on Xbox, Playstation and PC next year. They not really said anything about Switch 2 though spite claiming to be big supporters.
It will be, his net work will hit 50 million and he plans to buy a new mansion in Cape Cod. Thanks everyone! #failup
Xbox Game Studios' Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is reportedly planned to release in late 2026 to celebrate 25 years of Xbox.
They coulda started with Halo 3 remake ... I know Halo CE remaster was not proper with the art style but still, remaking after a remaster seems dull, when Halo 3 and Reach have started to show some age.
Sure Aaron.
I just think if you buy a powerful next gen console you want the focus to be on that.
If they supported their console the entire gen with games and even in the past year they wouldn’t need the feel to do it
How about supporting the gen you're in. They have not had a good track record of 1st party support.
I’ve mostly been an Xbox user this entire generation, but this is dumb. People upgrade consoles to play the new games that are only possible on next gen. From the first time I’ve heard that there won’t be any first party exclusives for 1-2 years, it’s been bugging me ever since. Being able to play my current library on the Series X is great and all, but I want to move onto the next generation.
I really don’t want to hear the “consumer friendly” argument either. Instead of seeing first party games taking full advantage of the new hardware, they’re just gonna be held back due to them needing to run on a console 8x less powerful and with a crippling HDD. It doesn’t take a tech savvy person to understand that. Exclusives define a console’s identity, and with that in mind, the Series X is going to feel like a One X all over again. I really wish Microsoft went with a more traditional next gen launch.
