@dcbronco Based on what information? The numbers on the specsheet? You idiots who know jack all about specs think numbers on a paper equal performance? Do you understand that NVIDIA’s graphics cards are more efficient per teraflop, core etc? So XSX is not on par with a 2080ti

Inside Xbox: lies and misdirection
Interesting that the trailer was not running off the xbox series x.

Shocked that this was running on the Nvidia RTX 2080Ti.

It makes Epics Unreal 5 showcase on PS5 hardware even more impressive!

Steveoreno11847d ago

@Acoldsoul88 with that logic Crackdown 3 at 4k/60 looks better than God of War at 1080/30. Give me that unreal engine video graphics at 1080p 60 and I'm happy

dcbronco1846d ago

But they are using a 2080yi and Series X is on par with it. That's says a lot for Series X.

cabbitwithscissors1846d ago

I knew it...All the trailers from that day were likely using high end PC GPUs.

Kaedro1847d ago

Yep, If they were confident on their 12TF they would have shown the games running on their console.

DigitallyAfflicted1847d ago

That sucks. Sony and Xbox have done this last gen :(

Thatgrammar1847d ago

@DigitallyAfflicted

You're ridiculous haha. Sony showed off all of their first party games running on PS4 and then PS4 Pro when they showed gameplay. If the game was running "in engine" Sony would state that on the trailer/video and that was probably running on a PC. If the game was running on PS4 or PS4 Pro they would state as much. It seems nonsensical to bring up Playstation when you are complaining about how this developer ran this game during an Xbox presentation. Also, this game isn't made by "Xbox."

LimpTool1847d ago

They only had access to the Series X for 2 months. Hard to create a demo on that short of notice.

chiefJohn1171846d ago

It's a 3rd party game, the only reason it's even coming to Xbox is because it's the only console capable of running. Otherwise it would've been PC only. MS have 0 control over the game

RazzerRedux1846d ago (Edited 1846d ago )

@chiefJohn117

"It's a 3rd party game, the only reason it's even coming to Xbox is because it's the only console capable of running. Otherwise it would've been PC only. MS have 0 control over the game"

Total bullshit. The game recommends a PC with a GTX 970. A PS4 Pro can run this game. Hell....the minimum requirements are for a 750ti. lol....a base PS4 can run this game. I have already pointed this out and showed you the system requirements and yet here you are repeating this lie. Your bias is blinding you.

Warhammerz1846d ago

Wrong... if you read the full length interview, they have not updated the Recommended Specs on the game yet.

"Are the system requirements listed on Steam still valid? They seem a bit low considering the level of visuals seen in the new Scorn trailer.

Yes, system requirements are old and will go up a bit for PC."

RazzerRedux1846d ago (Edited 1846d ago )

"Yes, system requirements are old and will go up a bit for PC"

That's good to know but even if the Recommended requirements become the Minimum requirements, it is still bullshit. You are telling me that the minimum requirements for this game are going to be the equivalent to a RDNA 2 12 TF GPU?

Come on. That is going up more than "a bit".

Edit: Oh...then there is this:

" Now, this is a tricky question as for some reason a lot of people feel that it should be quite easy to get 4K 60FPS on the PC even with this graphical fidelity, and that really isn't the case. For the showcase we used 2080Ti and a Ryzen processor just because there was no reason not to use it, but a 2070 Super with a mixture of settings is adequate to run the game at 4K 60FPS."

That's a 4.5 TF variance between 2080ti and 2070 Super. Don't tell me this game can't run on PS5.

@crazyCoconuts

"That's pretty embarrassing"

Is it? Are you expecting all third party games to be presented running on actual PS5 hardware?

gerbintosh1847d ago

@obscure_Observer

Yes? Why wouldn't they be presented on the hardware they are being programmed to run on? Too much false advertising in video games and people are now okay with it. Makes no sense.

crazyCoconuts1847d ago

MS presented it as a big reveal, so yeah. It's not just some random trailer on YouTube. More like an event you advertised to show people what your upcoming console can do and the footage isn't running on your console. Not even close - a PC with an Nvidia card?

garos821847d ago

@obscure_observer
Is it? Are you expecting all third party game engines to be presented running on actual PS5 hardware?
oh wait...

rainslacker1847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

"Are you expecting all third party games to be presented running on actual PS5 hardware?"

In general, yeah. Especially when it's being shown at an event that supposedly is showing games running on said system. Otherwise, it's just a general gaming press conference like we'd see from any other 3rd party publisher....which MS is essentially becoming anyways. At the very least nowadays, it should be disclosed either in the trailer, or almost immediately afterwards. Not a couple weeks later by the dev doing an interview with a two bit website.

I know that all companies sometimes show trailers that aren't from the system itself though, and while I don't keep up with a list, Sony has either disclosed what hardware a game is running on in the trailer itself, or said so after the fact if questioned, which they usually are if it's not disclosed.

I remember when GOW was making the rounds. People thought it was running on PS4P, when they actually showed it on the PS4. Crazy I know.

CGI teaser trailers I couldn't care less what they run it on. That'd usually be the teaser reveals, mainstream ads, or things of that nature.

dRanzer1847d ago

So now a different of 2 tf doesn't make a change?
RTX is 13.5

Fishy Fingers1847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

Thought consoles "punch above their weight"

So 2 tflops now makes a difference? Because I hear it's negligible when comparing the PS5s 10tf and the XB 12tf...

I expect a 2080ti is probably the closest like for like (PC vs console) GPU avaliable next to XB/PS5 (thanks to much better optimisation)

ABizzel11847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

@dRanzer

Stop misinforming people. These GPUs are not the same architectures, so it's not just a 2 TF difference, which is why the Series X is constantly being compared to the RTX 2080 and 2080s, not the 2080 ti.

STOP DOING THIS.

That being said it's not a huge difference anyway, because the range of current GPUs both RTX (and the PS5 / Series X) are all within a similar ballpark, framerates and resolution will be lower than what a 2080 Ti can do, but the results should still be fairly similar.

@Fishy Fingers

Consoles perform above their weight as time goes on, but rarely if ever do they perform on par with equivalent GPUs at launch, which is why a low-end GTX 750ti was outperforming the PS4 and XBO at their launch. It's not until the second wave of games 2 - 3 years later that consoles match their PC GPU equivalent, and another 2 - 3 years when they surpass them.

But in 2 - 3 years PC GPUs jump in performance, and in another 2 - 3 years we're entering the early phases of what next-gen is capable of.

xX-oldboy-Xx1847d ago

I would've thought the nasty disclaimer at the bottom of each trailer told you that on the day.

Nothing ms showed at their last 'event' was running on xbox series x hardware.

That's why they rightly got torn to shreds.

rainslacker1847d ago

Don't be too hard on Obscure. He needs a hobby while he waits for the next big MS event.

darthv721847d ago

News flash... everything is built using high end PC/GPU's. What do you think a dev kit is? Its usually a high end PC that is representative of what a console would be but with more punch because it has to do more with debugging and running unoptimized code.

Are you new to this because its been that way since the 7th gen.

xX-oldboy-Xx1847d ago

Newsflash - When you advertise games running on hardware your trying to convince people to buy - you actually need to show it.

Are you so well trained by ms that when they say something which is clearly a lie - you lose the ability to call them out?

Next Thursday for you, Friday for me - we will get to see what next gen should look like. Running on the hardware that will be sold to consumers.

rainslacker1847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

Early dev kits are often high end PC's(for the time) that have similar or slightly better specs to what is expected in the console.

Actual dev kits are typically slightly upclocked versions of the regular console, with extra memory, connections for data transfer to PC, and debugger software.

Otherwise, games are actually just developed on PC. Dev kits are just used for testing and final builds more often than not. Kind of depends on what is being done at that stage in the production. That's why so may engines that build to console also build to PC. Because it's just easier to quickly test pieces of code without loading a whole part of the game into a dev kit, which takes time.

mandingo1846d ago

This is why you cannot trust Microsoft. The event was called inside xbox and they show a game running on freaking RTX 2080ti. Is there a 2080ti inside XSX? No!They are unshamefully lying to the consumers.

crazyCoconuts1847d ago

Inside Xbox: lies and misdirection

RpgSama1847d ago

Not only did they say it was going to be a gameplay showcase (it wasn't), the cinematics they showed weren't even running on their console.

crazyCoconuts1847d ago

I hope for their sake that most of the consumers don't see the level of BS that they shovel out. What genius over there thought this was a good idea

nirwanda1847d ago

It's only the same as everyone saying the epic tech demo was running on a ps5 when it was a ps5 Dev kit, everyone knows Dev kits have a higher spec than a standard console no matter which format.
It will have much more ram and higher clocks and usually built from pc architecture until the final kit is out and even then it's over clocked and contains more ram.

crazyCoconuts1847d ago

No @nirwanda, it's NOTHING like that

nirwanda1847d ago

The higher than 12 tf rumours stemmed from the Dev kit spec which are which are apparently over 12tf.

darthv721847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

I don't see why anyone is surprised by this. The inside xbox thing was the 3rd parties showing their wares that are coming to xbox just as it was epic showing what their new engine is capable on ps5. When anyone is showcasing something, they will do it in the best possible way.

And honestly we don't even know if it was a ps5 dev kit that was used for that epic demo. I mean its pretty easy to add console button overlays to things on a PC given the use of console controllers with PC these days.

nirwanda1847d ago

Of course it's the same when GDC demo was due hardware was nowhere near final for example Devs have only just got the pad.
The chips are not tapped out until as late as possible so games are built on pc architecture as it takes years to make a game they have a projected spec and have a higher spec and scale down when final kits are released.
The best example of this is the Xbox one at E3 just before launch crashing out to a Windows screen running Nvidia GPUs.

Thatgrammar1847d ago

@niwanda

I have never heard of a dev. kit having higher specs than a standard console. The manufacturer would want the specs to be the exact same so that developers can optimize the game for the hardware right? That sounds logical to me. I have never heard any developer state that the dev kits are more powerful. However, I am not a developer or working in the industry so I don't talk to the people in the know. All I can go off of is publicly stated information. Seeing as how this was running on a dev. kit and the PS5 console is not out until the later months of the year, how do you expect developers to run games or demos on a PS5? Isn't the Dev kit the unit they have access to? And where are you getting your information? I am always open to discussion.

crazyCoconuts1847d ago

@darth, the Force is strong with you, but I'm not buying it. In the end, this won't hold up to the court of public opinion

nirwanda1847d ago

@thatgrammer here is a link to the spec of the one X as you can see it has a much larger bank of memory which is common for a Dev kit https://gamingbolt.com/xbox...

rainslacker1847d ago

The PS5 dev kit doesn't run at 12TF. So the rumor is pointless. All dev kits are slightly more powerful than the release console, and they do indeed have more memory, but that's because code in development tends to be bloated, and since dev kits have debugging software included, they need that extra space and resources to perform those functions. Dev kits are not upclocked by 20% of the base though. 5% is an extreme, and at that amount, you're not going to see much difference between code in development and final optimized code. The upclock is there more to handle the debugging software than it is to handle the GPU. Since the debugger uses CPU processes, they need that headroom to handle that, but allow the game to run within the same amount of power it will have on the final release. Since clock speed of the CPU is directly linked to the speed of the GPU, it will raise the power.

Dev kits also have the ability to run in native mode....for testing purposes that don't require debugging, usually for final builds...and it basically just runs like a normal system, but allows access to whatever is built in to jump around in the game to test different things.

Because of this, just because a game is stated to run on a dev kit, it doesn't also mean that the extra power of the dev kit, as minimal as it is to the performance of the game, is actually being used. Usually live shows of game play are done in this way, with a build that just loads up the demo version of the game build.

xetiro1846d ago

@niwanda
Dev kits extra resources are completely locked reserved for debugging. It allows developers to attach several profile tools to the games executables, so they can debug CPU/GPU/RAM usage of their games without interfering with the game's performance on target hardware.

So your suggestion that devs would use that extra resources to develop and showcase better looking games that otherwise couldn't run on the target hardware, is simple not true.

In other hand, using a different hardware setup such a PC build with a different CPU/RAM/GPU, if without any sorts of environment target constraints besides "it's somewhat similar", would in fact allow developers to take advantage of the extra specs to develop/showcase software that is not truly representative of their target machines...

How much more in your face can you get. Just go back and watch/read any video/article from Phil or Aaron in the weeks leading up to the event.

This shouldn't be given a pass or defended by you lot.

It's not acceptable from ms. The gen hasn't even started and they're off to a flyer.

@crazyCoconuts

rainslacker1847d ago (Edited 1847d ago )

But there was no game play....so, are they suggesting that the XSX can produce game play on the level of in game rendered cut scenes? Disclaimer or not, it's still deceiving.

I think everyone agrees that non game play scenes usually look better than actual game play....so what exactly are you defending MS of being honest about here?

cabbitwithscissors1846d ago

Everyone remembers what Ubisoft did with their bait and switch development of Watch Dogs and other games in their catalog, EA's Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem , Bethesda's Fallout 76, Microsoft's Halo 5:Guardians, Sony's Resistance: Fall of Man?

All these games final outlook didn't portray the feel of what they were supposed to.

Redemption-641847d ago

So the trailer that was shown was not running on an xbox?

nirwanda1847d ago

Yep nearly all games demoed for a system that isn't out yet are not on final hardware.
Anyone remember the Xbox one demos at E3 that crashed to a Windows blue screen of death then it all came out they were not on final hardware they were on Nvidia GPUs.

Redemption-641847d ago

I am actually very surprised by this, I didn't think MS would be stupid enough to use trailers of games running on a PC, after spending months telling us how powerful their new system is and what it can do

With less than a year before release, they definitely should have hardware to run these games. The Epic tech demo states it was on PS5 and that isn’t out yet.

Yea the pricing for Nintendo peripherals is a bigger joke than the game prices. What the hell were they thinking!

Vits5h ago

The thing is, over the past decade, third-party controllers have really stepped up. You can often get better quality, more durability, and stronger performance for half the price of first-party options. Meanwhile, controllers from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have become increasingly mediocre, expensive, fragile, and not particularly impressive across the board. What makes this especially noticeable with Nintendo is that they’re surprisingly open to third-party hardware. That openness ends up highlighting just how much better the alternatives are.

Vits24m ago

Pretty much most things by half a dozen of chinese manufactures. Like, 8bitdo, Gamesir, Machenike, Gulikit, Flydigi, Manba, EasySMX, etc.

The exception would be really low tier stuff by those companies... those wouldn't be better, they would be about the same quality. But more durable.
