This is great! Wish more open world games took this approach.

“The goal was to encourage the player to look into the game’s world and not at UI. The wind and the animals keep you scanning the horizon and see things that may spark your curiosity and take you to a new place.“

n-skyline1831d ago

It will be good if it works. I did find with the witcher3 and other games I would tend to just look at my icon on the map whilst travelling the environments.

Game looks great. I'm interested in the combat since both the player and the enemies can die very quickly. A nice change of pace from the game I'm playing right now, Assassins' Creed Odyssey, where every enemy safe for the weakest grunts takes a million hits. Gets a bit annoying sometimes.

SyntheticForm1831d ago

Smashing civilian women dressed in common garb with a flaming 2-story hammer should be a two-hit kill minimum.

SpaceRanger1831d ago

I gotta say that their beautiful, simplistic gameplay trailer has this game as a top contender with GOTY! There’s so many others from this year so far, but the minimalist game design and art style is so unique.

NeoGamer2321831d ago

TLOU2...

This game looks great, but I doubt it is a GOTY contender against TLOU2.

SpaceRanger1831d ago

They’re both up there! Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% stoked for TLOU2. But this game is definitely competition to it through its own strengths.

starchild1830d ago

Ghost of Tsushima seems vastly better to me than The Last of Us 2. Super excited for Ghost of Tsushima.

Atticus_finch1830d ago

Both will undoubtedly be fighting for GOTY.

Cyberpunk and LOU2 is a GOTY contender but if Ghost has an amazing story. They could be a GOTY contender too. I got all 3 preordered and cant wait to play them.

NeoGamer2321830d ago

From the demo I just don't see Ghosts as GOTY material.

We all know that Cyberpunk and TLOU2 are going to be the massive games this year. From what I saw of Ghosts I will get it right away and will love the play through, but I see it as a mid 80's to high 80's game in reviewer minds.

TLOU2 and Cyberpunk are probably low 90's to mid 90's.

This all sounds really exciting. I almost wish this game, and TLoU II would swap dates. I'm still looking forward to TLoU II, but this shot to the top of my list.

Abnor_Mal1831d ago

I can't wait to play this picturesque piece of visual art. Keeping your eyes on the horizon to see where to go or new areas go discover sounds great. The idea of using the wind to navigate is a solid idea given the theme they are using. If you can see if you can get go it means no invisible walls, or there's a path somewhere.

I kind of hope there's no fast travel in the game, because that I think would ultimately defeat the purpose of creating such h a beautiful landscape. The game a crafted for you to keep your eyes on the horizon but instead you fast travel. That would break the immersion for me more so than any other game.

jimbost791830d ago

Fast travel was confirmed in the demo mate.

Ok… so which game got the Japanese pissed off enough to complain about it in the diet (Japanese parliament)?

It was a great game.
All my Japanese friends loved it.
I remember I would visit my friend who owned a bar and we will talk about the game and sometimes other Japanese dude will join in. Pretty dope

That’s great and a little hilarious how when it was revealed western journalists tried to give off the impression that it came off racist with it being made by non Japanese developers.

CrimsonWing6953d ago

I hope western culture knocks this sh*t off. F*cking Parasites Eve took place in New York, does that make Square a bunch of racists?

-Foxtrot53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Reminds me of Resident Evil

RE4 - Leon killing infected Spanaids...in Spain

Fine

RE5 - Chris killing infected Africans...in Africa

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** YOU RACIST PRICKS. HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?

MDTunkown52d ago

-Foxtrot
RE5 case it’s not that long ago when foreigners were killing local Africans. Leopold 2, killed millions Africans. So that’s a touchy historical topic. We don’t have any story driven games where you playing as Nazi.

goken53d ago

Somehow the same western journalists said nothing of AC shadows, when some Japanese were so offended they discussed it with their prime minister in the diet (Japanese parliament).

-Foxtrot53d ago

I've never actually thought of this...

They literally got really snarky with Ghost of Tsushima since it's announcement yet with AC Shadows they said absolutely nothing.

Double standards. Was it because it was Ubisoft or what?

Michiel198952d ago

how the f can you say this after literally everyone complains about AC? So you wanna say you checked which outlets did it for ghost "supposedly" and cross referenced them to the AC reviews? very believable

Cacabunga52d ago

western journalism is all about splitting of communities.

Don’t bother with obscured his last 2 brain cells died when he realized ALL NEW XBOX “EXCLUSIVES “ ARE COMING TO PLAYSTATION
It’s so bad he wrote the answer to his IQ leve as a new account, instead of writing iq 6 yeah he wrote YQIA6🤣.
NOW BACK TO THE TOPIC
Everyone knows that Japan lost their relevancy as the source of video games decades ago so it’s no surprise to anyone with 2 brain cells that this would happen now I would like to see any Microsoft exclusive have the courage to say how many units halo sold in Japan or better jet the number of consoles sold in its totality 🤷🏿

senorfartcushion52d ago

?

It's a AAA videogame. Western journalists only like and care about these games. It's Yotei that's lroving controversial, for stupid reasons - but it's journalists who are trying to talk that game up.
