That’s the whole point, whether people care to admit it or not. There is a clear push for the western media to get involved in sanctions. Which as we’re all well aware in no way whatsoever effects the relevant people or directed at those involved but instead at ordinary civies.
It’s to further destabilise civilian life within Russia creating further tension and pressure. All part of the modern day propaganda war machine. You notice there was none of this when America and the UK were bombing countries, stating the same reasons as Russia is doing now. I suppose one thing Putin has nailed is showing us all what double standards we have.

It punishes their economy. If the citizens can’t participate in buying and selling, the government suffers as a result.

Ermm, countries around the world have frozen 60% of Russia's central bank reserves. Thats bound to make paying for a long drawn out war very difficult while also trying to counter the economic war (sanctions) that is being waged against them.
Sure it sucks that regular people will get caught in the middle but it will be putting a lot of pressure on the government too.
Yeah, it really sucks for the Russians that they're losing access to some games. That's the opinion we should be projecting...

Economic issues solve wars faster than bombs. That's why we live in a world of sanctions and whatnot.
People are dying in Ukraine for a completely unjustifed invasion. Its more important to take actions in hope of stopping that than some Russian folks inconvenience.

I can't think of a time where mainstream media has started a world war. Also, what the hell is mainstream media? Fox? CNN? NYT? NPR?

Last I checked, this developer isn't a country and hasn't done any of that. So, my answer still stands since the question was aimed at the developer and not a government.
Killing and invading were Hitler's thing. Just because he was obsessed with a master race doesn't mean he didn't want to conquer the world.

Why are free play days stuck behind paywalls? Seems odd to limit the audience that could demo the game & might ultimately buy it - the whole point of these free play events.
Book of Demons is one of my favorites in indie gaming.
Very good game where we find the atmosphere of Diablo 1.
