The butchering of the franchise begins

CrimsonWing691891d ago

Square said it was just a gag and they didn’t expand on it any further.

"Begins"?

Dude, you are soooo late for the party...

kayoss1891d ago

you act like ff7 remake butchered it with this reference. this reference was made years ago.

Furesis1891d ago

"The creators of both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X/X-2 have toyed with the theory in interviews in the past, but it doesn't seem to be something that is intended to be set in stone or taken seriously"

It's an obvious ester egg. If some people want them to be connected then they are allowed to believe in that but for me it's just an ester egg, just like how they use cid, biggs & wedge etc.
Although with this remake i wouldn't be surprised if they made it canon but i doubt it

Godmars2901891d ago

Still, at the very "least", expect other such Easter eggs to other entries. Just like there was one for FF13 Versus in the KH3 DLC. Which may or not be a "hint" for a KH spin off that's actually going to be what Nomura wanted FF13 Versus to be.

That's what happens when Square does Easter eggs.

TricksterArrow1891d ago

FF9 also references 7 and 8. FF Tactics actually has Cloud and Aerith. People need to chill.

Godmars2901891d ago (Edited 1891d ago )

@TricksterArrow:
That was Squaresoft. We're talking about Square Enix.

F**k, we're talking about Kingdom Hearts, the core example of the difference between Squaresoft and Square Enix.

Edit:
Wait, what references to FF7 and 8 are in 9? All the FF title use the same elements.

"Wait, what references to FF7 and 8 are in 9? All the FF title use the same elements."

Only 2 I know of could be is the Buster Sword looking sword is on a wall and the shop keeper said it was used by a spiky haired kid. The other was a knight talking to a flower girl and she says something like he is nice but doesn't have much personality.

I don’t think it's meant to be taken seriously. Sometimes you see Mario or Link in Nintendo games here and there too.

KwietStorm_BLM1891d ago

Funny because I noticed some hints of FFX throughout the game. Not easter egg hints, but certain plots elements and even some of the new music is reminiscent of FFX. There's one track where you fight Reno and Rude that sounds very similar to the boss music.

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit123123110d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle320d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

gleepot320d ago

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
