This one feels bland, which is why I'm just going to keep the memories of multi-disc, PS1 original and leave this one alone.

I'm on the final chapter, I completely understand why it's only the Midgar section.. completely dwarfs the original. Good stuff, Migar with full meat on it's bones, 9/10 so far for me!

Play the game til’ the end and you’ll know. This game and the ones to come, without spoiling anything, is not the ff7 you know and is rather a rebuild as forbes say, or in other words a new take on ff7 with major key differences.

I feel the same, this is a bastardization of the original. The main problem with going back to these games is the creators aren't always fans of their work, hence nomura, the guy that made kingdom hearts story a mess because he likes to subvert expectations. Code word for make weird shit in my stories like kojima.

You are the only logical person I've seen comment on this game. I've been saying this since the announcement I don't want a pieced out episodic remix version at sixty bucks a episode LOADED with useless filler. I grew up playing the original and the thing I enjoyed most about it was the sheer size and scope for its time, this is a bastardization of a classic to milk money from its fans and I hope other developers don't follow this trend. Thinking about developers dicing up and remixing older classics at FULL price gives me nightmares.

I know, i have a feeling most haven't finished the game yet. Games great till after wall market. Thats when things start disappointing old fans. The end is a complete DISGRACE, and damages the rest of the game.

That and KH fan boys are coming in and defending nomura. They don't know the meaning if the word story.

How can he say the story is different enough to keep him guessing and the game play is obviously very different, but then say its a "rebuild"? He doesn't even say what a rebuild is. By definition, this is a remake. Period.

No it's not. It's a REMAKE with modern day hardware. They took the game they made in 1997 and REMADE it for the modern day audience.

They didn't though. A remake implies that it will still resemble the original game for the most part with modernized graphics and gameplay. Since they decided to alter the story, it ends up being more of a reboot or "reimagining" like people are saying.

Actually, here, I'll help you out. Here are 3 definitions from different sites for the word remake.

1. To make again, or differently
2. anything that has been remade, renovated, or rebuilt
Key word: RENOVATED
3. To make again, or anew

Face it. Its a remake. It may not be what you expected, or even wanted. But its a remake.

@corndog Thanks I really needed the dictionary's definition of the word remake to fully understand your point. So by that logic, not only is it a remake, it's also a reboot! According to the internet, the definition of the word "reboot" is "to bring back (an earlier film or movie) usually with a new cast and updated script". See how weak this argument is? You can argue semantics about the wording all you want but that doesn't change what the game is, which is not a faithful remake of the original game.

This remake is horrible and is going to be even worse as it goes on. I was geeking anytime they followed the actual story but the time ghosts and sephiroth early, not to mention just making something that was 2 screens in the original 6 screens in this one. The only thing they added that was nice was more backstory for jessie, wedge, and biggs and wall market but that was about it.

I’m happy that they chose to tell a alternative story and didn’t do a step by step remake. FF7 on ps1 still exists and if I want to play it again I’d play it on the ps1. A new take on what could have been is imo wonderful.

The Remake was made by the original creators.

This is the ACTUAL story, wether you like it or not.

This is their vision with modern day hardware and budget. This is what the original would have been if they had unlimited resources.

No those were actual remakes because they told the same story, well RE3 is barely a remake, this is not a remake since it's not retelling the exact story, it's either a reimagineing or how I like to call it, shit.
