not impressed. looks just ok i guess
A PS3 game that could look great as that is impressive. So I really don’t know what you expect it to look like, a PS5 game?
No, but I would certainly expect it to look better than some gloomy mess at any rate...
“ No, but I would certainly expect it to look better than some gloomy mess at any rate...” Something tells me you weren’t a gamer during the PS3 era.
It's only a 1280 x 720 PS3 game emulated to run in native 4K, or nine times the resolution......pretty impressive as far as I am concerned! The texture work pops at that resolution. The emulator is only going to improve and get better. You'll still be unimpressed if they make it run perfectly full native 4K 60FPS, despite the fact you can count the current number of console games that do that on your fingers
Oh come on, you just choose to make negative comments in nearly every article about emulation. I, for one, am glad that I can continue to play my PS1, PS2 and, soon, PS3 game collection on my PC. My backwards compatible PS3 is dead and I don't think I'm going to be able to revive it this time. I don't want to have to buy a PS2 and PS3 and I don't really have the space for them anyway. I'm still holding out hope that Sony will surprise us with full backwards compatibility on the PS5. But I'm glad that these games will be playable for me thanks to emulation.
I mean, it's almost a 13 year old game. Here's a screenshot of the original King's Field for PS1, which was the same age when Uncharted came out as Uncharted is today: https://d2skuhm0vrry40.clou... When you look at it like that, it's kind of amazing how good Uncharted still looks all this time later.
why they even bother
Why not? Where there's a will, there's a way. Tech nerds have done some insane things that push the boundaries of many things.
Uh...to play games. Even if your console has died. And with better graphics and framerates than were ever possible before.
3:14 is for the inevitable, it doesn't look different to me.
Ray tracing will take years to properly include in game design. Existing workflows dont support it.
That framerate is horrible. But the ray tracing seems to just change brightness. Barely a significant change at all.
This is why i hate reshade, it's not even ray tracing, it's screen space global Illumination, which is purely trying to mimic that through screen space post processing. It's not ray tracing at all, so it's giving everyone a false expectation of what ray tracing actually is.
Reshade is great, but it's not often that I am impressed with a lot of people's end result. A lot of people love lens flare and everything looking shiny, but I hate that.
@SegaGamer It's great as a graphics mod for sure, but i hate everyone touting it as "Ray Tracing" when it's not. There's a good video by DF that explains what the difference is here: https://youtu.be/NkGvESObKx... About 8:30 is when they explain the difference details
Framerate is slow, now you know what it feels like for PC gamers playing on consoles. There is actually a reason why it is slow though, it's emulating PS3 hardware and running the game way higher rez than has ever been seen before.
I'm a PC gamer so yeah, I know what you are talking about. But that frame rate is bad even for console standards. Yeah.....PS3 emulation is damn hard thing to do.
''Now you know what it feels like for PC gamers playing on consoles.'' I'm a PC gamer aswell, i was completely fine with the stable 30 FPS when i played UC1 on PS3 for the first time. This is not stable 30 FPS.
This isn't stable 30FPS, but then a ridiculous amount of console games aren't either. Go look at Control's terrible performance recently. It was just an illustration of what high refresh rate PC gamers see when they play on a console for long. A taster if you will.
It looks horrible
Definitely better than the remaster. Not leaps and bounds better, but still. This is why emulation is important; not only can you properly keep old games alive, whether they get taken off shelves, or a print is hard/ridiculously expensive to buy, you can turn to it. Not to mention things like this that help modernize older titles.
Emulation is primarily important to pirates. Let's not kid ourselves and pretend this is about "keeping old games alive".
Believe whatever you want lol. You can give multiple reasons why emulation is a positive, useful thing, and we'll still have those who just screech "pirates" and call it a win.
Exactly... They can spin it all they want, majority of people will use it for piracy. That is why i hoped Sony would at least try to partner up with these people to make some sort of validation SW to make sure these games are only playable for people that actually bought them in the first place (i know it is very unlikely)... because let's be real here, there is no winning against piracy. Also i find it funny they are still trying to justify the early PS4 emulator, and yet SONY has confirmed that almost all PS4 games will be playable and enhanced on PS5. Hell PS1/PS2/PS3 B/C is still in the air, since SONY did not deny nor confirm them yet... At the end, i try not to worry too much about it (emulation and illegal ROMs), at the end it's not much different than jailbraking a PS3 only with much higher cost of HW for the same results.
Sure....there are positives. But you are ignoring the negatives and "screeching" about game preservation and pretending that is the reason this stuff exists. Don't be so naive.
^^^^the alt account is triggered. lol "I also find it laughable that you accuse him of screeching when your comment section for the year pretty much amounts to your pathetic screeching for the love of your blackbox." actually he used the word "screech" first. But I find it laughable you made this account just for this silly rant.
I don't have an alt account. I actually only even revisited this conversation because I saw it was getting a little bit of traffic. But, as I already said, believe whatever you want.
@TheRealTedCruz I was responding to the account now marked as spam. And it isn't a matter of "belief". You either acknowledge the fact or you pretend it doesn't exist.
That's nowhere near as good as the remaster looks.
My favorite game in the series. Looks fantastic! This was the game that really started to right the tide for the ps3
PS3 my favorite PlayStation of all time. UC1 was THE game that proved the PS3s superiority. Then MGS4 😸
Just not impressed, some of it looks worse and at other times it looks ok.
Well it just shows how really good uncharted 1 was graphics wise that it still holds up really well
nothing but a waste of time, there not much different
I wouldn’t mind a full blown remake of the first Uncharted on PS5.
No it doesn't need one.
Reshade "Ray Tracing" is just turning up refections and glossiness. Nothing to do with Ray Tracing whatsoever. Just a misuse of a word for hype/clicks.
That's completely untrue. It is a form of ray tracing. It's using ray tracing to produce a more physically accurate global illumination, instead of the baked or precalculated global illumination we normally see in games. It does have its limitations due to the fact it is screen space only and isn't integrated at the engine level, but it IS real ray traced global illumination.
Something looks off rather play the non-pirated version.
Wow... The lower frame rate makes it look even more cinematic !
Most look better without Reshade + RT
This is what PC elitists have to get excited about. Awesome.
No "PC elitist" is going to be excited about the prospect of playing any game with those framerates.
getting there.. soon 60 fps
Looked better before
