IGN: "The Final Fantasy 7 Remake has had a pretty long development cycle, first being revealed way back in 2015. So we thought we'd take a look at how the game has evolved from its 2015 PlayStation Experience trailer to what is finally playable here in 2020. What do you think: has it changed for the better or do prefer its older, more gritty art style?"
Many games have come and gone as gaming began its illustrious history in this world. So let's talk about the top 100 video games of all time!
CGMagazine narrowed down some of the best reviews of the year to name our top 10 games, and ultimately CGMs Game of the Year 2024!
Nearly 27 years after the original game's release, Final Fantasy 7 superfan Jamie Colliver has finished his magnum opus: A shot-for-shot remake of the original PlayStation 1 game, created entirely via LittleBigPlanet 2. Colliver's remake reimagines the original game as a platformer, with every scene, every location, every line of dialogue, and every song from the game's OST painstakingly implemented .
2020 looks clearly better!
Damn they did a reverse UBIsoft lol upgraded instead of downgraded.
Great comparison video from IGN.
I think people don't give them enough credit for the amazing job they've done since the reveal.
When the news came up that Square was taking all the work in-house, consequently taking it away from their 3rd Party contractor to 'ensure better quality', it sounded like development mess and poor management on their behalf.
Now seeing these direct comparisons, it's clear to see where the time/dedication has gone into. Whether that's better lighting, skin textures, hair, geomatry, but most of all the art direction is miles better. One of the complaints people had of the original reveal, was that the Midgar look too 'real life like' without distinct steam punk direction.
Square have been known to do great rendering and CGI for their games. Im not at all surprised that 2020 is far superior than 2015. But again technology is a lot better today than 5 years ago.
