The Sega Genesis console doesn’t always get a fair shake when compared with the SNES, especially when it comes to their RPG game collection. Here are 5 Genesis RPGs that prove it is the true RPG console.
Cultured Vultures: You love the SNES, we love the SNES, so let’s look at the best SNES games ever together.
UN Squadron, Stunt Race FX, Top Gear 2, Nigel Mansell F1, Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Adam's Family, Super Probotector. Top 3 for me, Mario Kart, Legend of the Mystical Ninja and Mario World. It kills me that the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo generation has gone. Going from a Commodore 64 to a Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, the much higher costs of games, I couldn't play them all.
NVIDIA’s RTX 50 “Blackwell” architecture has been a bit of a bore for us gamers. Apart from Multi Frame Generation, which has limited use-case scenarios, there isn’t much to be excited about. It is achieved using GPU-side Flip Metering. The optical field data is generated using AI models in the Tensor cores.
Who would have thought that giving games away for free would be so lucrative?
So true. Phantasy Star was the superior/greatest
8-16 bit JRPG series. It was the best
/greatest JRPG series pre FF7
Cant have an action rpg in there like Beyond Oasis and not include Landstalker. I preferred Shining Force 1 more than 2. Better characters and story.
Phantasy Star II was my first JRPG, think I was 16.
I have such fond memories of it, it transported me to a world I just fell in love with. For its time it had some genuinely emotional story telling and I also remember loving some of the music too. The combat was good too. The only thing that grated was some of the XP grinding, which was new to me, but everything else made it worthwhile.
Loved the fourth one too.
Phantasy Star II and IV were great but FFIV and VI were better games. That's just my opinion though.
I didn't get into RPG's on a Sega machine until the Dreamcast I'll have to dip into the Genesis library of rpgs same with the Sega CD
