AMD admits using fake render to show off Xbox Series X

One of the more interesting things that AMD showed off during its keynote late last night was a shiny new render of the Xbox Series X. It was more detailed than anything we’d seen before – but it made sense for AMD to be showing it off.

The only problem? The render wasn’t legitimate.

They gotta help Xbox series X the best they can before it launches.

King_Noctis1986d ago (Edited 1986d ago )

If so then why did they admit they showed a fake render? Don’t you think they could have just stay silent? Who knew this was fake to begin with?

Gazondaily1986d ago

Lol so apparently AMD are in cahoots with MS to market the X as some dastardly plan to market their tech

" AMD are in cahoots with MS"

Well, they absolutely are and CaptainHenry916 is right. Guess what? They are in "cahoots" with Sony too. I'm sure they will provide as many fake renders as Sony wants.

MasterCornholio1986d ago

@Septic

I don't think that's it at all. It's because Microsoft already revealed their system while Sony is keeping theirs under wraps. AMD won't use images of the PS5 until after Sony reveals it.

King_Noctis1986d ago (Edited 1986d ago )

“ That's what happens when you get caught lying.”

Wait a minute, who caught them in the first place? Because based on the article, its AMD themselves that clarify that this is a fake render.

Also, if they needed images for their keynote and the actual console isn’t being mass product yet, what do you think they should do? Call a magician and make them pull the console out of a hat?

rainslacker1986d ago

Does it really matter if it was fake or not? Seems like a lot of to do over something rather harmless in the bigger picture. It's not like they revealed any kind of trade secret with the fake render, they just wanted something to show with their video. Something that isn't widely available at the moment.

darthv721986d ago

It can't be THAT fake considering we already know what the box looked like from MS. All that is questionable is the port layout / orientation. Otherwise the render is more than likely pretty accurate.

JackBNimble1986d ago

Both MS and Sony will be using similar tech from AMD so claiming they're helping xbox is kind of pointless .

So that is why Microsoft quickly came out and stated it was not representative of their actual system configuration? You do realize PS5 is AMD too right? So are they going to give us a fake representation of their system too?

Gazondaily1986d ago

Yeah I wonder if you'll get an answer to your question here..

specialguest1986d ago (Edited 1986d ago )

How is a rendering of the ports on the back "help"? The ports are nothing special and it was less than a second shown. OMG! That completely sold me! /s

No one in the history of gaming ever refused to buy a console based on whether it had an internal or external power supply, or the types of ports it had. The amount of people agreeing with your post is hilarious

I hope the two hdmis output my amp won't do hdr but will do DTS master audio etc, so I have to sacrifice sound for picture quality.

Kumakai1986d ago

Who cares... it wasn’t even meant for the public.

Here I’m gonna help you guys out if you care... the back of the Xbox and ps5 both will have... wait for it: a power plug, some usb, some hdmi, an optical port and probably some vents. Let’s get back to sleep.

Garethvk1986d ago

It was streamed but the video is gone now and marked Private. We had staff there.

Looks nothing like the Microsoft render

Lots of Improvements Coming to MythForce on June 26

"First-person roguelikes like Gunfire Reborn and Roboquest can be quite fun when done well. Another such game is MythForce, which comes from Beamdog, the developer that brought Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 to modern platforms (while mostly ditching the co-op). MythForce features cartoon-like visuals and a fantasy theme, making it quite different from most of its peers. It will soon reach its "final form" via the upcoming Version 1.2 update," says Co-Optimus.
