Xbox Game Pass had a banner year in 2019

Xbox Game Pass has really hit its stride. Microsoft’s video game subscription service delivered tremendous value in 2019 with day-one games like Gears 5 and The Outer Worlds, as well as a regular supply of new-ish games like Devil May Cry 5 and indie hits like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Hey, i got to play Crackdown 3 and Gears 5 for a total of $4, cant complain about that.

I can agree to that. Free, cheap or on sale is always nice.

But isn't it interesting? This gen, Nintendo is continuing to be known for their exclusive games you can take on the go. Keeping their dominance of portable gaming.

Sony is continuing to be known for their dominance with their exclusive single player games. And their support for physical media. And lending, sharing and trading games.

And Microsoft is becoming known for subscriptions, GaaS and all digital(sad edition as well) that requires an internet connection to get content or use it.(F2P requires XBL to use too) Where the network still checks to see if you're subbed. Not every 24 hours. But it will check. You can't lend the games to friends or trade them in. Almost the same as they tried in 2013. And still want for the future for gamers.

Almost as if they came up with a variation on the same thing. And the fans eating it up. Hmmm... Interesting. Speaking in general of course. And not directly at you.

Lol bro MS is mainly a software company unlike SONY AND NINTENDO. They try to pump things out and stay in our living rooms. They try and keep things competitive in the gaming area. Sure they’ve had hiccups but they are doing a stellar job with the hardware and software they have. Relax and play some games

The problem with supporting cheap things like Game Pass and then playing games like Crackdown on it, justifies Microsoft half-assing their approach to game development and what types of games they release.

Crackdown was half assed to begin with before you bring in Game Pass. They banked on 'da cloud' and they didn't do much to save it.

I gave it a fair shake as a huge fan of the original, and yeah it was bad, but i like to give most games a try before i dismiss them. Gears 5 was pretty good though.

The witcher 3 is almost 5 years old. You could've bought the GOTY edition for $6 in the summer before it was on gamepass.

Gears 5 Forza 4 got to try dead by daylight, state of decay, played some Halo lol tomb raider, metro Exodus lol I mean the list is crazy alot of quality games

XGP had a stellar year. Cemented itself as a service. Gamepass Ultimate...extending the service to Windows 10...announcing that xCloud will be apart of it in the future, thus coming to mobile devices as well...Making it forward compatible with Series X thus gamers can have Microsoft's entire launch line up for the console on #DayOne when it hits shelves...they are showing the service great support.

I can't really fault Gamepass, I'm playing more games than I've ever played before plus I'm playing games I never would have looked twice at.
Worth every penny in my book & it'll keep me on Xbox.

Game Pass is by far the best value in gaming - period. No matter which console or platform you game on, it's not even debatable. Game Pass Ultimate cost $180 annually. That equates to the cost of 3 new game releases. The average gamer could easily find new and recent games on the list that they were either intending to purchase or games that they want to play but didn't intend to purchase. And there are also hidden gems that are surprisingly fun to discover. I confidently safely so that Game Pass has helped become a fan of some unknown indie developers.

I love game pass, ill get a next gen xbox just for that, but ps5 is where its at with many many exclusives coming out. Nintendo's a handheld that looks 2 gen behind when you hook it up to you tv. When im out and about i dont want to be gaming, switch for the kids sure, for me no.

I would hope so. At this point in the gen it’s the only thing they have left. Drop the X1S to $100-$150 with a year of GP Ultimate and I’ll bite. Enough with the Minecraft/Hotwheels bundles.
