Exclusive:
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- The Last of Us: Part II
- Ghost of Tsushima

Also:
- Cyberpunk 2020
- Resident Evil 3

I don't think Xbox has had this many high profile exclusives in 1 year let alone the whole 7 year lifespan of Xbox One.

pwnmaster30001965d ago (Edited 1965d ago )

@Captain

But it’s still exclusive for 2020.

Plus it was never stated where it was going.
If it’s PC, then according to MS fanboys, it’s still a exclusive.

Also games like grand blue and Babylon fall is scheduled to come out next year

Larrysweet1965d ago

Use real exclusives stop making us look bad jesus only 2 are exclusive

RangerWalk2671964d ago

It blows my mind why people, like yourself, get off on speaking negatively about a company that works and creates products for the hobby we all enjoy. Sure, we're all entitled to one's opinion. So I wouldn't think it's childish behavior if you had just said, " I prefer PlayStation because..." But to act as if you're special, because a product that ANYONE has the ability to own, happened to produce more " exclusive games " this generation. Looks quite bad. I also understand ones urge to defend their purchase.

That being said... I think we are at a point in video gaming that no only are consoles affordable enough to own both. But it almost doesn't make sense not to. Again, that's personal choice. I personally have ALWAYS purchased all of the options simple because I don't want to miss or limit my choices when it comes to my primary source of entertainment. I have plenty of games on each platform. I'm 38yrs old... So my kids and wife have more say in what we purchase now, more so than I do ( unlike when I was in my 20's lol) so I have more games on the Switch and Xbox. But it honesty wouldn't matter to me what platform I play my choice games on.
Xbox X games: 432
PS4 Pro games: 98
Switch games: 77

All this to make this point. Complaining, comparing, and throwing shade at people that help fuel competition, innovation, and global growth is kinda silly. First fanboys were saying how big of piece of shit that the PS3 was compared to the 360. Which isn't true. Then at the start of this gen it was how the Xbox one was a peasant console because it only did 900p instead of 1080p ( until the X came out with a lot more power than the Pro )
So now the focus is on the exclusives.
Which everyone with a pair of eyes and a brain can see that Microsoft is spending more money on acquiring Studios than they ever have before.

So let's stop with the hate and start encouraging companies to do better. To do what the consumer wants. And that's not just console manufacturers. That goes for game developers as well. If you can't tell by cross-play and other things. The Fanboy walls are slowly starting to be blurred out. I believe it's time to start acting like gamers instead of divided children

BigTrain1964d ago

@Ranger

100% agree with what you're saying, unfortunately, I think you're making too much sense for the blind fanboy types on this site.

CorndogBurglar1964d ago

@ RangerWalk267

I agree with you. But the whole owning both consoles argument is only valid if we're talking about adults. Most parents aren't going to buy their kids both. And I have a feeling a lot of the fanboy nonsense is coming from children who rely on their parents to buy their games.

Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense.

CaptainOmega1964d ago

@Pwn

“But it’s still exclusive for 2020”

So were you saying that when all of the Xbox ‘exclusives’ were exclusive for as long as they were, or did you attempt to downplay it?

For me personally

Biomutant, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU2, Babylon Fall, Yakuza Remaster collection, Ni-oh 2, Dying Light 2, Doom Eternal, Psychonauts 2, no more Heroes 3, lityle nightmare 2, ffvii remake, RE3remake, etc.

Oh and the launch of next gen consoles!
Gonna be so broke

IRetrouk1965d ago (Edited 1965d ago )

Some games and then a brand new console, gonna be a good year for playstation gamers.

Godmars2901965d ago

Non post-apocalypse sci-fi settings?

Please?

Rimeskeem1965d ago

Ghost of Tsushima and Dreams are both Non post-apocalypse sci-fi.

Godmars2901965d ago

Dreams is an open-platform title anyone will be to make anything they want and/or able, where Tsushima will likely be set in a Japanese Medival setting. Everything will either be in disrepair, damaged or rundown.

Abodenn1965d ago

How's Ghost of Tsushima sci-fi?

TheTony3161964d ago

Ghost is set in Edo japan, lol.

Rimeskeem1964d ago

I think some people didnt realize that I was naming games that were not post-apocalypse or sci-fi.

Need to find another culture if, rather than defend/further grow something worth the effort, its more about picking up the pieces with no hope of putting things back together. That what came before was thoroughly corrupt, only going to fall apart, and the best you can do, the best you want to do, is carve out your own kingdom. That's pretty much what almost every major game has said for nearly two decades.

Maybe I’ll go check out battlefield 5 again.
Maybe this will give a little boost

Dhika1d 18h ago

Bad offerings and only a single game for the premium tier? Really sony?!

PapaBop1d 18h ago

Some of the best psvr 2 titles leaving, nothing coming, way to support your psvr 2 owners. Still, I don't mind the games coming personally.

crazyCoconuts1d 12h ago

Yeah I upped to premium when they started adding psvr2 with the expectation that they would keep coming. now when my sub ends I'll be scaling back

dmonee13d ago

Word!!!! With the PS5 pro release price! Im hoping for a price decrease!

S2Killinit12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

When PS5Pro released it was only $100 more expensive than the xbox series x. Now xbox series x is actually more expensive than the PS5Pro lol 😆

So yes the Pro will be getting a price increase imminently.

raWfodog13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

I think it’s pretty much inevitable. I don’t see Sony keeping the same prices while everyone else is raising theirs. The industry has been testing the waters for a while now with these other forms of increases such as ‘early access’ and ‘special editions’ of games. I always wait for games to go on sale so they’re not getting full price out of me.

VersusDMC13d ago

Well there were articles on how Sony stock pilled PS5s in the states so i think they will go one holiday season without raising the prices in the US.

And death stranding 2 and Ghost of yotei(coming out in Oct) have announced prices of 70 so i think they are going to see what happens when they are the cheapest option this holiday.

goken12d ago

Yeah, and i think the US gov also gave tariff exemptions for electronics. Although there’s still inflation to deal with, and logistics cost probably up significantly.

anast13d ago

Yes, the PS6 will be close to $800.

btmgov2913d ago

I will actually be happy if it is only $800.....

toxic-inferno13d ago

I don't like paying a lot for games, but frankly, this needs to happen if the industry is going to improve.

Back in 2005, brand new releases of PS2 games usually cost £39.99 in the UK, with some going up to £45. Adjusting for inflation, that's between £70 and £80 today.

Then consider that in 2005, many games were being developed by teams of around 40. Nowadays, for games of the same 'tier', you're looking at 500+.

In addition, game development in 2005 tended to take around a year. Many of the big development teams were producing annual releases, or at least one game every 2 years. Average development time now is 3-4 years.

Working all that through, you can estimate that a single game as I've described above 'should' cost FAR more than £70. A quick bit of rough maths:

£40 × 10 (increase in employees) × 3 (development years) = £1200.

Obviously, that's unrealistic, as basic economics tells you that market demand is one of the greatest driving forces behind pricing products. But it still makes you think...

Thank GOODNESS we're not paying more than £80 any time soon...

BeHunted13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

No thanks. More people are switching to PC gaming since it's more affordable. Graphics aren’t the main concern anymore. Affordable motherboards, RAM, and CPUs can last for years, and upgrading the GPU each generation makes it a worthwhile investment. There are no limitations with PC gaming.

Plus, PC games are cheaper, especially when bought from 3rd party key sellers, and there's no need to rely on monthly or yearly subscriptions

Agent7512d ago

Won't be long until PC games are in line with PS and Xbox prices.

Rancegamerx13d ago

Your argument is fundamentally flawed. Inflation alone doesn’t dictate game prices. Development efficiency has improved, with outsourcing, AI tools, and modular design offsetting increased team sizes and longer development cycles. The idea that prices should scale linearly with employee count and years spent is absurd—games don’t cost 30 times more just because they take three times as long to develop. Your math ignores the actual economic forces at play, like mass market appeal, competition, and diversified revenue streams. Pricing is dictated by demand, not a raw cost equation, and companies balance expenses through digital sales, DLCs, and microtransactions. If games were priced at £1200, the industry wouldn’t improve—it would collapse. The £70–£80 range isn’t some act of generosity; it’s the optimal price point to maximize profits while keeping consumers engaged. Your conclusion misses the actual mechanics of the market entirely.

toxic-inferno12d ago

I agree, and suggesred as much. But I was approaching it from the perspective of the employees, of whom there are now many more, working more years for the same release.

Thankfully, gaming has become more mainstream, which is what has kept the cost low for such a long time. Games now sell in far greater numbers, which keeps the cost low. But as this growth slows (as is inevitable), we should expect to see the cost rise.

Agent7512d ago

Back then, there was Play.com, games going for well under £20. Best to sit back and let games age and pick them up cheaper, but some used games can sell for more. That also pays off waiting for complete editions. It's probably the oldest debate in gaming, the price of games. PS4 games rising to £60 was a shocker. There's definitely a gaming crash coming, yet Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft don't seem to be bothered. They only see £ and $ signs then wonder how it all went wrong.

Sadly the price increases are expanding to Australia and likely other regions beyond.

Seems like it's best to stack now if you're in the position to do so

Cacabunga34d ago

Stack? No way I’m still boycotting since the last price increase

Profchaos34d ago

I try to stack every time they offer a psn sale that discounts the deluxe tier by 30 percent I find that's the best way to get past the multi year increases but yeah it's sucked feel like everything has increased so much lately across all subs I've cancelled gamepass and a few other streaming services going back to just psn, NSO and Netflix

DivineHand12534d ago

Same here. I let my subscription lapse since it ran out last summer. If we do the math, is a console really cheaper than a PC? It sucks that I can no longer play Helldivers 2, but it is not worth spending so much on the subscription fee for a function that should be free.

PS plus essential is $80
PS5 is $500
The generation is expected to last 7-8 years, which means you would have spent at least $1060 just to access basic features along with the initial purchase. Not to mention some games being more expensive. There are also the additional controllers you may need to buy once your original ones start to drift. I have 3 DualSense controllers, and all of them drifted. I was able to fix 2 of the 3 by modding them with Hall effect sticks.

I love my Playstation, and I do not regret buying it at launch since I got to enjoy some great games like Ratchet and Clank, Horizon Forbidden West, Spiderman 2, Demon Souls, Astro Bot, and God of War Ragnarok.

The issue I have is that the Playstation that we know today is different from the Playstation we had in the PS4 era. Things are also getting progressively more expensive as time goes on.

Once the PC hardware situation improves, I will be looking to build my own one part at a time instead of getting a Pro console.

anast34d ago

@ Divine

The PC situation won't get better. If you want to game, you will need to choose who you want to get screwed by.

lukasmain34d ago

Terrible idea to Stack now in my opinion. The raise is not that much for 12 months, so you might as well wait for the 30% sales at the end of year, because you will be saving more money. That's when I'm going to stack like a mofo. I'll buy like 5 years then

gold_drake35d ago

i hate this mentality of "oh its doing really well, lets make it more expensive"

CrimsonWing6934d ago

Hold onto your butts, boys. Soon the world will get a bump in game prices.

Profchaos34d ago

What's not going up these days

CrimsonWing6934d ago

How much we’re getting paid.

DarXyde34d ago

You gotta love the attitude people had before: "Price hike! NO, THIS IS TERRIBLE, I HATE—wait ... South America? lol ok."

It starts hitting closer to home and now we're worried. It was always a concern and people should have always treated it that way.

Funny enough, Sony is likely losing subscribers with every price hike, and all they're doing is offering the beefed up service to fewer people. Doubtful this offsets the lost subs.

Haven't had Plus in years, and I don't miss it. And frankly, with the way things are going, I just don't see myself getting into the next generation either. Increased reliance on AI, stagnant gaming experiences despite better tech, untenable budgets, increased cost to consumers, tendency to push GaaS, very long development cycles, weak/non-existent digital rights protections, poor global economy, tariff madness.

It's probably a better use of my time to double down on my other hobbies. Can't speak for others, but it wouldn't be surprising if the market crashes because enough people come to the same conclusion.
