Why Bravely Default II Will Be Infinitely Better Than Final Fantasy VII Remake

Bravely Default II is coming out next year on the Nintendo Switch, and it's going to be infinitely better than Final Fantasy VII Remake.

I think FFVII has both turn based mode, and a hack and slash based mode. I cant wait for either of these games Both will be exclusive to a system. I have been wanting to play Bravely for awhile now but doing a JRPG on a little screen for me is not fun. I will get both. Then I will decide which is better. If the FFVII turn based mode is good then it is going to be HARD for Bravely to be better. But I will have a open mind on it. This is where having both consoles is best, especially for a rpg fan.

Wow, "Infinitely better" just from a short trailer, instead of you know, a remake of one of the most beloved games of all times, even if it's just a chapter of that game or a remake of ony disc 1, it still comes from one of the most beloved games of all time.

Maybe you could actually read the article before commenting? He is saying Bravely Default will be better because it will be more like an actual Final Fantasy game than the part 7 Remake will be. At no point does it say anything along the lines of BD being better because it's on Switch. He's saying it will be better for lovers of turn based RPGs.

To be fair, a lot of hype and hyperbole comes with current day FF games too. It's been a while since we had a really good FF game. They have been surpased in quality by a lot of other JRPG series in recent times.

I agree on ff 15 and 13. Imo, those were the black sheep and lack the magic of old.
I adored 4, 6, 7, 9 , and tactics. I agree with the sentiment that a lot of recent Jrpgs have surpassed the new ones but it is a harder argument about the old ones, even with this remake having a more action system. Hopefully doing these remakes will rekindle the old flames.
To each his own though. He really loves bravely default to claim it is infinitely better than final fantasy 7 remake.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion even if you don't agree with it.

Nah, XV was great. It's not turn based though so some of the actually quite minor issues about it get thrown way out of proportion by some lovely old school fans who live on the forums.

It hasn't been that long. FFXIV Shadowbringers came out this summer and it was fantastic. FFXIV may be an MMO but it really captures the essence of Final Fantasy. It's okay that every entry tries something different. I loved FFXV to be honest. I hated FFXI, FFXII got it all wrong from what I saw and I'm not gonna get into FFXIII and its sequels. We had a lot of great spin-offs and sequels like Crisis Core and FFIV The After Years (although I may be in the minority for this one)

I mean, it was a pretty big announcement for RPG fans. Bravely Default is one of the best RPGs of the last couple generations, and people have been constantly asking for the third game for the past four years.

Trials of Mana is the only Square RPG remake I have interest in for next year. I was never big on ff7,I adore FFIX however. I would have more interest in FF7 if it wasn't episodic.

Remaking an RPG of FF7's scope into an action game using modern technology is an immense undertaking. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if it had been turn-based like the original. It's not something most people think about but the AI for instance is much MUCH easier to deal with in a turn-based RPG like FF. There's no movement for one. Hell they could take all their decisions completely randomly and it'd probably work well anyway.

Turning this into an action game means having a much more complex AI and pathfinding. Not only that but each boss battle must feel unique with its own mechanics or else it'll feel repetitive and boring as hell pretty fast.

So yeah I get why they need to split it into multiple parts. I'm a little worried about them expanding the Midgard part to make the first game take place in there from begining to end. I don't know if they plan to just ditch the world map for the next parts for some silly reason such as "characters that are the same size as houses don't look realistic" or if they'll have a huge open world map to explore. If that's the case then it certainly explains why they'd focus on Midgard for the first part.

I don't own a switch but I played a little of this on the Ds I think. A friend wouldnt stop about it so I checked it out and loved it. I'm one of the ppl that miss the old rpgs that had a good job system that really isn't done today. If you guys love a good story and miss the job system turn based combat this is a real winner or if you got 3ds or Ds check it out. Really cool to see this even show on home consule.

Bravely Default II will probably follow the same predictable formula as BD1 and the BD sequel on 3DS as well as Octopath Traveller. Remember their last game was Octopath and it's one of the worst RPGs of recent years.

Square-Enix began banking on the Final Fantasy name since after FFX, basically by the time Sakaguchi left Square not a single FF game was on par with its predecessor except for the visuals. I'm not undermining the directors that came after, to be fair i'm sure they're doing their best but naturaly some are more creative than others and Hironobu was one of the brightest stars of the industry.

I believe FF7R has a real opportunity to set Square on a certain positive path but if that fail only God knows what will become of the franchise.
