Silent Hill: Shattered Memories proved combat wasn't needed for horror 10 years ago

I haven't read the article yet, but I disagree with the premise. Shattered Memories was a very poor horror game, because you ALWAYS KNEW when the enemies would appear (in the "ice world" only). That removed any tension.

The original Silent Hill for PS1 is a much better game, truly frightening and always unpredictable.

SH Shatter Memories had some neat concepts and looked good on the Wii but I got bored after 2 hrs. I thought Downpour was a better game the Shattered Memories and that game is not even that great either.

Sorry it needed combat. It was just a big Chase scene. Got old real quick. Sad because it's that running crap that ruined what could have been a great game.
