thats gonna be a big issue with a lot of ISP in the states, mostly copper provider as they support bit down but not up

Brave_Losers_Unite2047d ago

I have around 280mbps down and about 12mbps upload

Lol

blacktiger2045d ago

I have 1 trillion gig download and 1 mb upload, suprise?

OMGitzThatGuy2046d ago

Anyone not rocking at least 4.75mbps upload needs to stop living in Uganda and join the times.

rob-GP2045d ago (Edited 2045d ago )

The majority of (UK) ISPs only give you 10-20mbps upload as well, regardless of your download. The main provider which doesn’t is Virgin, but they’re more expensive and not in all areas.

PS Remote Play, for example, only requires a 5-10mbps upload.

*just seen you said 4.75mbps and not 4Mb (40mbps). My bad.

rainslacker2045d ago (Edited 2045d ago )

that would include more than half the US. Average upload speed is less than 5mbps. Most people don't really need that kind of upload speed, because most people just download, and upload is typically just requesting information. I supposedly have 100/10 on my line, and my upload usually hits around 7, but sustained average speed tends to be around the 4-5 mark.

fathertime44642045d ago

My 10 upload is more than enough for console streaming. I believe you only need 5 for it to be fine

darthv722047d ago

Guess I'll have to get used to streaming from my work. We have a dedicated fiber line with 150mbps up and down.

Kribwalker2045d ago

That’s what i got at home
https://i.postimg.cc/SNSbqF...
I get between 150-190 up and down to my phone/xbox on wifi at my home

Lexreborn22045d ago

Doesn’t sound like proper usage of company resources. And, also sounds like your IT Team is allowing free range of the corporate bandwidth usage which hopefully your user count is very low if that’s the point

darthv722045d ago

I don't think the IT manager would mind (wink wink).

MasterCornholio2047d ago (Edited 2047d ago )

That does make sense and it's a pretty big issue with Remote play if you don't have great download/upload speeds.

"Indeed, Microsoft says that a home network “upload speed of at least 4.75 Mbps is required, but 9 Mbps or faster is optimal for the best Console Streaming experience.” You’ll also need download speeds of 10Mbps or greater to play remotely on the device of your choice. "

I know it doesn't seem like much but from my experience you need something much better than the recommended for an optimal experience.

rainslacker2046d ago

Remote play will degrade the picture quite a bit. What PSNow needs is a pretty steady connection, not necessarily speed alone. I've seen remote play deliver some pretty low quality streams while still being playable...at least you can input and have things happen like they normally would.

It’s really old now. All great MMOs decline.

PRIMORDUS8h ago

Also who wants to keep paying a monthly fee every month, there are other options like Guild Wars 2 😁with no monthly fee and while not that many people overall compared to FF XIV, it did increase to about 21 mil now.

kaewcha7349h ago

Looks like Square Enix is self-aware but still stuck in place, they see the player drop and apologize for the bugs, but nothing really changes. Shame, FFXIV used to be the gold standard

Servbot418h ago

My entire free company has stopped playing. The writing has consistently gotten worse and the content is sparse and lacking; unless you are a hardcore player there's very little for you to do. They are over-catering to the people who will grind three+ times a week on a single fight for multiple months when the playerbase by large doesn't want that sort of content. Square needs to dedicate more resources to the game instead of wasting them on mobile and other live service slop.

Miraak82 2h ago

The biggest factor for me is the way they butchered job design over the years , the casualization and over simplification really hurt a good chunk of enjoyment I used to have . Jobs lost any form of complexity and just became " press glowing button" DDR style for fighting where the gameplay loop is a about the 2 minute burst window . They removed most DoTS, timer mechanics , cast times, pets, RNG ect and all around homogenized everything . When you try and can cater to everyone ... you cater to no one .

Glad, I’m about to downgrade when they raise the price. For me, I don’t really access much or care about the games they have in the library and if I do, it’d be cheaper to just buy them over time rather than stick to some expensive subscription model.

crazyCoconuts3d ago

When you're new to the service you've got an avalanche of games to play. After you catch up, I agree, it's not worth it beyond the Essential tier for me.
That being said, the Essential tier is the best deal in console gaming imo, based on the monthly games you get to keep.

Profchaos3d ago

Yeah same will be downgrading $214 aud is insane and we don't even get the streaming capabilities in Australia which they said would make the top level subscription cheaper.

If i was to just buy the games I actually play that come to the service id be far better off.

Ill keep the essential tier to retain the games ive collected since the ps3 and for mp but I'm not convinced of the premium tiers value any more

victorMaje3d ago

Went back to essential a few months ago. I’m buying more physical and it has helped in finishing more games.

Profchaos2d ago

Tend to agree if i go to the trouble of buying a disc ill typically finish it

Alos883d ago

Extra is probably the best value for money right now, Premium doesn't have anything special enough to justify paying the additional imo.

OtterX3d ago

*unless you have a Portal & you catch Premium on discount during Days of Play or Black Friday.

Yea, I really do wish they'd up their effort on Premium titles, but allowing a large catalog of titles that can stream to your Portal without even having to use your PS5 is pretty awesome. We travel about 2 hours to stay with my inlaws from time to time, so it's been pretty killer to only need to take my Portal for that!

andy853d ago

Yup if you have a portal premium is the best tier for sure

KyRo2d ago

Extra has been getting worse and worse each month. I've had it since it's launch and it's been great to play some games I may not have played but the selection has been declining rapidly for a while now. My sub runs out in August and I'll be going back to essential. They actually add games to that which are more appealing.

jznrpg3d ago

Add some more classics with trophies. Vagrant Story first

OtterX3d ago

Nice choice. I agree!

Jeanne D'Arc was my favorite PS+ catalog title from last year & I Platinumed it!

Eonjay3d ago

I like Ridge Racer, Tekken and Grandia. Add Xenogears, digimon World 3, Classic GTA and ill be happy

jznrpg3d ago

Jeanne D’Arc was great!

@Eonjay there is a Grandia collection available for PS4, I’m not sure if it’s been on plus already or not

darthv723d ago

cloud streaming to the portal, without using the ps5, is the selling point of premium to me.

Obscure_Observer3d ago

If the consumers are happy, Sony is even happier.

It is what it is.
