I really wish the featured image for articles like this were actually of the game with the highest advertised discount.

It's their strategy for getting more hits

And still the 1st party Nintendo games are at high price.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – $49.94 really and that's a deal LOL, the game is 2 1/2 years old, to me it should be no more than 35$-40$ max.

That's Nintendo and their "Evergreen" strategy. It means their games never get below original MSRP no matter how long after launch it is. Until we get some kind of "selects" line, this is it. I just end up not buying anything for my Switch because the market has taught me otherwise - wait and things will get patched and be accompanied by some solid/steep discounts.

I don't hardly ever buy any game on launch/spend $60 on a game, period. So that effectively leaves me not buying Switch games because I can spend that $60 more wisely elsewhere. It's a bummer.

Yeah Nintendo and their ways. I think it would be best to wait a bit more and buy it off ebay slightly used.

This is why I have more PC (and PC games are expensive until we have one of the many sales) and PS4 games, I'd have more games for the 3DS, but they never drop the prices so they're still a shit ton of games sitting in my wishlist. I only recently brought a Switch because I had a gift card that paid 3/4s of the price for me, none of the games where below $65, I picked Link's Awakening, Fit Adventure and Astral chain anyway. It'll be awhile before I buy some more games and controllers. I really wanted to get Splatoon, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Rabbids, Odyssey and Breath of the Wild.

This is exactly why I got 8 games on Switch and over 150 on PS4 and like 450 on PC. They never drop first party prices. It's ridiculous. Even more in cases like DKCTF where the games more expensive than the original release. Like half the games aren't even worth the sale price. The only reason they get away is because fools fall for the hybrid buzz word making it okay to now sell portable titles as full priced games because a portable device can be docked lol.

Guess it’s your money but I have no problem spending $60 on games I feel deserve it. Witcher 3 and other games that don’t try and rip you off with mt’s I like to show my support. If the games 2 years old though I’m not paying $60 either

You have a problem with a game being $9.94 more expensive than you want it to be?? 😂😂😂

Teflon02789d ago

When the sale price is $10 more than you think the base price should be yes

MasterCornholio789d ago

Yeah I rarely buy the shorter Nintendo games unless the price drops first. Unfortunately that means waiting a really long time for the selects line.

I really wish the price would drop after a while but Nintendo rarely does that.

For comparison, RDR2 came out only one year ago, has sold 25 million copies and has a 97 on Metacritic, and is still regularly on sale for $35 - $40, even hitting $30 sometimes.
