ok i first admitted that Death Stranding can be a bit monototnous but rating DS->6 and SWJediFAllen ->9 is completely ridiculous ....what are their standards??...DS can easily had that 9/10 rating but SWJFO no way!....(judging SWJ from what i m seeing in playthroughs

Death Stranding is closer to a 7 than it is to a 6, according to IGN.

I would also encourage you not to look at reviews in such a monolithic manner: IGN reviews games, sure, but within that, you have different reviewers with different standards.

Playing it right now and Stars don't feel like something new or refresh. It actually feels like copy and paste from other good games. They did copy Dark Souls and Uncharted. Whereas Death Stranding felt more interesting, unique, and a whole new experience

Yeah but it may not be the patch you want. They have released games (especially star wars) and said no micro transactions then a couple weeks later updated the games with micro transactions. At this point anyone that believes them again is what is called a fool.

I have the game since yesterday and have not witnessed any major framerate or stuttering tbh.

Without performance mode on it runs decently enough at 30fps most of the time. But with performance on it really fails to hold up at all from what i played. It was bad enough for me to just not use it.

I seriously hope they fix it, or i'll regret not getting it on pc.

Then your better off watching individual reviewers because you're not going to find any large review outlet where the entire staff shares the same opinions and reviews are just that, opinions. What's difficult to understand is why a publication the size of IGN wouldn't have some sort of expected standard to hold their reviews to. That's kind of what publications are supposed to be about, otherwise a review is just an editorial, which nowadays, also doesn't have the standards that it should have, but same point still stands.

People dont talk about the reviews from there and say, "reviewer X thinks this game is this score", they say, "IGN thinks this game is this score".

It's why a lot of people think that ign is kind of a joke for reviews nowadays, and the only reason they hold so much weight is their supposed reputation, and reader base.

There are a fair few bugs in the game, clothes seem to blow in the wind even when indoors but in the weirdest way being the most jarring.

I'm playing in ultra wide at 1440p with a 2080 ti and there are drastic dips from 90 down to 72. Hopefully they can fix it. It runs 60fps on Epic without any problems.

Can you just cap the framerate at 60 so you arent getting those massive dips. Running 90 is great but dropping 20 frames is really noticable I'm sure.

I get it, IGN is not the best place to go to for reviews. But it looks like they got this one right considering the vast majority of other reviews seem to agree. It's also sitting at an 84% on Metacritic, which is really nice.

Reviews are opinions, man. If you played this game and think it's a 7.5 then that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. But it looks like most people would and reviews would disagree with you. It doesn't make them right or wrong, and it doesn't make you right or wrong. But calling them shills because they rated it higher than you would is juvenile at best. Especially when there are multiple other outlets giving it the same score as them.

Not to mention, you recommend a 7.5? That's only a 1-1.5 point difference between you and other reviews.. Is it that hard to believe that other reviews would be slightly off from yours? It's not like you're saying it deserves a 5 or 6 or anything. A 7.5 is still a pretty good damn game by most other people's logic.

Funny. I used that same argument discussing death stranding reviews. While I agree with you, it seems that general consensus isnt supposed to be any kind of consideration, and peoples pre conceived bias is what is truly accurate.

I don't know if they're shills or not, but if there's one thing we've learned in recent years, game journalists are incredibly out of touch, unreliable, and inconsistent. Might as well guess a score for the game, you'd probably be more accurate.

Yeah, well the funny thing is Death Stranding was at least polarizing in its reviews and even people playing it. This doesn't seem to be like that. It looks like people who have actually played it generally like it quite a bit. Across the board.

But you're totally right. There were people hating on this game since the first gameplay reveal. Saying the combat looked boring lol. Mind you, these are likely the same people that praise Dark Souls combat. And by all accounts the Combat in this game is very Souls-like.

So whatever. People can hate on reviewers all they want. But when all the reviews of a game are saying the same thing, 99% of the time you can safely go with that. But that doesn't mean you will instantly like a genre you never had interest in though...

When I had made my comment, this was the first, and only review I had seen, so I wasn't trying to make any comment on this game specifically. Since I came home, I've seen reviews kind of all over the place, although I have yet to see the troll review, sub 5 score yet.

That said, a score is a score. And scores nowadays are pointless, because there is no consistency between publications, or even within a singular publication.

I don't miss dismemberment as such (admittedly it would be cool and accurate), but I would have loved to see the lightsaber react a bit more with the enviroment. Like we've seen him run trough high grass, but the lightsaber just runs trough it harmlessly? I seem to recall that even in TFU the lightsaber would react if it touched objects outside combat.

Nah. Most of the hardcore EA haters are downplaying this game simply because of EA.

And I hate EA also. But I also recognize the importance of supporting something like this. This is the first pure single player experience with no MT's that EA has put out in over a decade as far as I know. They need to be shown that if they release a quality game with no anti-consumer monetization then they will still do well.

I'm sure it won't matter though. EA still believes that games as a service is the way to go and what fans want. So in the end this likely won't put a stop to it. BUT.....it just might make them more open to releasing some more games like this as well as their monetized games. And if they do, then I'm all for it. I just won't support their garbage money grabs.

For now, I'll withhold judgement on if I'll get the game or not. First day of reviews is not always the best time to decide.

Good to see what looks to be not only a good SP Star Wars game but also the fact EA actually funded it! That said I'm cautiously optimistic because after almost two decades of horrible practices I'm not gonna let my guard down just yet. Especially after the cancellation of Visceral Studios SP Star Wars game.

Hopefully we get more SP games from them after the Battlefront 2 and Anthem issues. They have the capital let's see if they can continue this trend!

IGN gives COD consistent high score which tells me all I need to know about their criteria. Yes there are many reviewers at IGN with different opinions but they also have editors that say yay or nay to said scores. So excuse me if I think IGN is garbage and have slowly lost their credibility they shouldn't be regarded as an industry standard of any kind.

I just watched a half hour of gameplay. I must be missing something. I Love Star Wars, but this game just don't look all that great. I've read three glowing reviews, including a 100/100, but I'm just not seeing it in the gameplay. It looks... well... Kinda lame. It's just my opinion.
