During Sony's quarterly financial conference call for investors and analysts, chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki talked about the upcoming PS5 and more.
Haha you wish. Sony's first party games have never been terrible. The Order 1886 and Days Gone may not have been amazing, but in no ways terrible, not at least compared to the trash like Sea of Thieves and State of Decay which Xbox put out. I'm sorry you're used to Xbox's low standards.
Lakefirebum - And what has been so amazing about PC gaming the last 5+ yrs? And Switch - you're kidding right? Sure both have good games, but not the calibre of Sony 1st party titles.
The trend will continue next gen too. Best get comfortable with another gen of Sony domination.
some Idiots still think Sony going take the remaining ps4 exclusive games make them ps5 games because they think ps5 not going much in its launch window. in reality Sony seems prepared and will probably have a decent amount of exclusive games ready for ps5 launch window.
When GG finally does circle back to Killzone, I think they are really going to blow us away. Keep the best parts of it...KZ2 influences, new tech, build on AI and weighty feel of movement & weapons. Build & expand world with solid writing for campaign with engaging characters. 4K/HDR/60fps. Yup...I'd be down!
Keeping expectations very low, in terms of PS5/Next-gen only exclusives.
They'll push "BC & Legacy" hard along with PS5 remasters in it's first 2 years whilst announcing a proper exclusive or 2. Similar to this gen, you'll be waiting 2-3 years for exclusives and next-gen titles after their initial announcement during each E3.
It's also more than likely a PS5 Pro might hit 3-4 years down the road, buying the base PS5 at launch might not be recommended.
And imo also expecting far less Japanese support next-gen, Along with shoving censorship down Japanese devs throat on Japan-only releases, they're already slowed down on production more so than last gen and the PS4 adoption ain't as high isn't as it could be. A proper PSP2 could've helped remedied that but it seems handhelds is not on SIE:s mind anymore.
Every console takes a good 1-2 years to build up a good amount of new/exclusive games for it. That's nothing new. It happens every time. But watch. A year or so after the new consoles launch there will be people complaining about how there is a lack of games and that they are focusing on remasters.
Again. Every single time. It's as if people forget what it was like when the previous gen consoles released
Pedantic91 - I think you have them confused with another console manufacturer.
Sony will hit the ground running next gen, do you think GG has been sitting there doing nothing? Santa Monica? I'd expect at least 2 big 1st party titles launching within PS5's launch window.
Why would they lose a significant amount of Japanese support. There are lots of games from Japan which don't get hit with the censorship stuff. If they get an install base, more likely scenario is that the games will just released censored on the PS4, or the games will be designed around not having that content to begin with. The games would have to stop selling enough on the system before the support was lost.
Ultimately, the publisher cares more about making money, and I hate to say it, but if some of these games lose the sales they get from the PS platform, then chances are, they'll also not release on other systems. Switch can only carry so many of those games.
Wonder if you'd be so negative if this was an xbone 2 article lol. After the way PS4 has killed it this gen I wouldn't be worried. Tbh Its xbox you should be concerned about, PlayStation will be fine.
I prefer the term realistic. Besides, keeping low expectations help diminish disappointment.
Having a larger amount of 3rd party ports, mulit platform releases and PS5 remasters is to be expected, helps keep the budget for exclusives early on as plenty are prepared shell out for an enhanced experience.
Which is strange because they could have made that at literally any point during the lifetime of the PS4. Why would that game be the one to get you excited for next gen?
i'd be ok with a demon souls remake; but, if they made demon souls 2?.......sony could name their price and i'd pay it. demon souls and syphon filter are 2 of their franchises that NEED new games.
Since the PS5 hardware reveal is probably Feb...maybe E3 at the latest, it would be awesome if they announce PS5 patches for DS, Last of Us 2 and maybe GoT free of charge with footage of the upgrades over current gen. No need to purchase games twice.
PsV will be the gaming platform to own next gen. I predict the visuals will exceed that of PC unless you blow £1000 on a GPU and even still Sony's in house studios will surpass visually anything that releases on got Steam uplay or origin. I simply can't wait
it is possible thanks to an optimized architecture, having direct access memory without bottlenecks is already amazing together with the GPU., offloading at fullspeed loads of GBytes of data with a high speed SSD, that will be ahead of any PC which keeps pumping power and ghz to compensate the inneficiencies of its architecture model design...this reminds the great Amiga architecture we had back in 1987-88...
At the moment the ps4 can display what the pc can but with it's jaguar cpu it can't run all that with high frame rates. But next gen not only is there a massive upgrade in cpu the gpu is also a massive upgrade. So I think were in for something special
PC is, already, the next gen platform. You should check the RDR2 graph on pc in 4k versus current gen console. It's like comparing a ferrari to a hyundai. I can't imagine how powerful next gen graphic cards coming next year from Nvidia. PS5 and Scarlett will be based on current gen AMD cards, the 5700, not powerful.
I can name 3 games already that will be most likely available with the PS5 - God of War (sequel to the 2018 game), Spider Man (sequel to the 2018 game), Horizon: Zero dawn (sequel to the 2016 game). In addition, to this we may also get sequels to Bloodborne, Killzone or even the Infamous series.
With only a few games left to release this gen, I suspect most of Sony's studios are busy on product for PS5. Even studios such as Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog (which are the two main ones with games releasing by next Spring) have multiple teams within working on other games. I think Sony will have no problems having 4 or 5 major titles available for the initial launch of the PS5. This will be bolstered by multiplatform and indie titles. The one year wait from now on is going to drag!
Those won't all be ready for launch. We'll be lucky to even get one of those. It takes time to get into grips with consoles and usually the heavy hitters don't come out right away. Plus Sony like to stagger their releases and all those coming at once doesn't make sense. No reaction from me as I believe those are in development but we won't get them all at launch.
That sounds great and the retro-compatibility with PS4 is a good thing to play existing games libraries, enhanced by PS5, that will ease the waiting for new great games. Wanna try my RDR2 on PS5 with enhancements
I hope that we get more than just better graphics next gen. I get that graphics are cool and all. But what I really want from next gen is to finally get some proper advancements in AI, world/environment interactivity, and physics. This gen we only saw incremental advances.
Some of them are bound to be terrible.
Dammit, I was sure this was a GamingBolt article

A Demons Souls Remake/Remaster as a Launch title for PS5 or even an upcoming project would raise my excitement level for next gen alone!
