Death Stranding coming to PC in summer 2020

Kojima Productions: "Furthermore, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is happy to announce that DEATH STRANDING will be coming to PC in early summer of 2020!!"

It was expected, but announcing it before the launch is surprising.

I_am_Batman2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

It's the fair thing to do. I doubt it'll have much of an impact on sales. At least people that absolutely want the PC version, now have the choice between waiting and double dipping.

DaReapa2056d ago

They did a better job of announcing this than Rockstar did RDR2 PC.

Lon3wolf2056d ago

I'll wait for PC version, too many games to try and get through across consoles and PC (even my backlog has a backlog) to double dip.

ps3rider2056d ago

basically it tells PC owner. now you know its coming summer do still want to buy it on PS4

sprinterboy2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

I don't think the pc crowd would not play it because they now know its coming to pc nxt summer.
Imo it's one of them games which is day 1 was cause come nxt summer some article or d/head would have spoilt it by then with spoilers.
Edit: plus its one of them games like heavy rain that once you know the ending it'll spoil the game.

Unspoken2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

I was certainly not considering a PS4 for this game. Why waste the money?

SkatterBrain2056d ago

cross buy ? that would be cool

TK-662056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

I think this was not expected at all by many of this games most dogmatic defenders. I still have no plans to purchase it outside of maybe being able to critique it, but this announcement did make me laugh a bit.

"I still have no plans to purchase it outside of maybe being able to critique it, but this announcement did make me laugh a bit"

How can you be a critique if your not gonna play it by judging the game watching a youtuber? Like wtf is the world coming too

TK-662056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

@sprinterboy

"I still have no plans to purchase it OUTSIDE of maybe being able to critique it"

Is the logic of that sentence lost on you or are you just pretending to be stupid? Do you not understand that I'm saying I don't have much of an interest in it, but I might purchase and play it in order to offer a critique? Do you interpret sentences that literally? If so you've got this glorious gem in your own comment:

"Like wtf is the world coming too"

@Vegamyster

Thank you for linking to the thread. Seems like the people putting up all the disagrees want to revise history a bit.

I expected it.

I always expected it, and I have quite a bit if faith in it.

Expected by the reasonable folks yes, but so many on this site and others were outraged at the suggestion or simply went around ridiculing people who felt it would have a PC release.

Not sure why they were so adamant it was a Sony exclusive as Kojima did say it would come out on PC at some point and, afaik, its original conception was prior to partnering with Sony for development but I could be mistaken.

Besides, Kojima just left a company that was apparently restricting his freedom so I doubt he'd have jumped into bed with Sony if it meant less gamers got their hands on his first, most independent project.

Now if only it will come to Stadia, please let it happen!

wheresmymonkey2056d ago

Might do. I mean Stadia is pretty much just a bunch of PCs streaming games. It would all be down to what kind of contract Kojima has with Sony.

rainslacker2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

Stadia does not run on pc hardware. They run on data servers, which can vary in architecture, and they use their own high level api

Sony, or GG would have to specifically build a stadia version of the game unless google somehow makes it so pc releases can run on the service

MasterCornholio2056d ago

Just play it on your PS4 or PC if you want the superior experience.

beulahland2056d ago

PC is the only superior experience.

MasterCornholio2055d ago

@beu

That isn't true. Any system that can play a game natively is superior to a streaming service. The addition of input lag and compression is what makes streaming services inferior.

2055d ago
AnubisG2056d ago

Hope it never does. Stadia needs to fail in the sake of gaming.

TLG19912056d ago

Sad how just mentioning you want to play a game on 1 platform gets so downvoted. Same though, I have a PS4 PRO, a high end PC and i'm still getting stadia. I'm a dad and finding time is hard to game. Stadia will help me out with it a lot so F**k me for wanting to still take part in the hobby i've done my whole life.

sprinterboy2056d ago

Maybe twds the end of ps5 gen but I wouldn't count on it, but money does talk and Google would surely try and pay over the odds.
Example; would Sony turn down 500m for the game to be on stadia say summer 2021/22?
Thats enough money to make another studio, buy out a studio, or put it twds 5 AAA 1st party games?

That's not proof, it's your opinion
which means you are lying, or you are a writer for a living who doesn't know what "prove" means
which is it?

anast60d ago

Content writers have to be hyperbolic.

Bwremjoe60d ago

On n4g, I frequently get so annoyed by comments that I take the time to login so I can downvote someone. Today is such a day. What a pointless comment…

jambola60d ago

that's pretty pathetic
Can't believe you're talking about pointless, and bragging about downvoting someone lmao

I logged in just to downvote as well, and even took the time to comment to make them aware of the fact lmao

Got the Director's Cut platinum a couple of hours ago.
Ready for DS2 now.

Storm2375d ago

I have been slowly working my way though this game for months. I keep playing other games in between but I want to finish it before DS2.

Knushwood Butt74d ago

I ended up with over 140 hours on it, but I wasn't exactly rushing. Ended up seeing to it that all roads were rebuilt too.
There are still a few Half Life missions left that I think I'll do.

lukasmain75d ago

Man I love this game. Platinumed it and played through it a 2nd time just for fun. I'm day 1 with bells on for the sequel

anast75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

In still drop in this world from time to time. I just played it yesterday.

Video Games Proud To Not Be For Everyone

Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.

If you make something for everyone, you please no one.

mkis007133d ago

I mean I can do without nintendo games if given the choice. They are not nearly as mature rated as the average.

Yui_Suzumiya132d ago (Edited 132d ago )

Yeah but I use my Switch OLED primarily for anime booba style games (visual novels and JRPG's) and ultra violent FPS's. Far from kid friendly, lol

JohnBLZ132d ago

The problem with that line of though is that games have never been as much "for everyone" as in 2025.
The only thing that's not for everyone in gaming lately is the gatekeeping. Devs will try to appeal to as many people as they can, but if you dare have your own tastes and prefer something a bit more obscure, then you have "L takes" because at the moment, popular opinion equals right opinion.
So devs should simply own the fact they water down their games and go Hollywood to please everybody. Then indies will go back to being trendsetters that are different from AAAs, instead of being roguelike and gacha copycats.

132d ago
JohnBLZ132d ago

Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.

jznrpg132d ago

No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else
