How to Setup Sony PS4 Remote Play Download for Android

In the latest update the Sony PS4 Remote Play download has is now available for use with Android and features Bluetooth PS4 controller support.

I've been remote playing on my Sony xz3 for the past two years now with a dualshock attached to it and it's a million time better with a psvita.

But yes, this Android feature is nothing new and I actually prefer it on Vita over phones

I really looked forward to remote play on my S9 with a dual shock. Just found out tonight that android 10 is only available on google pixel phones for now. Could be at least till Feb next year for Samsung to finish testing the update. It will roll out on the newest / exspensive phones first. I had forgotten completely about remote play as it wasn't great on my vita years ago. I now want to try it with my Vita again, has anyone tried it? I assume it would be working great by now!

I use remote play on the vita all the time and it's excellent especially for rpgs. First thing is to make sure your ps4 is on the 2.4 WiFi connection, then I'd recommend connecting to PS4 direct, you don't have this option on mobile. The only thing then that can give you a dodgy connection is if the ps4 is downloading anything, I just pause them and it runs as if its native.

Thanks, just charging it up now. Forgot that the orange light needs to turn blue before you switch it on. Then I expect some hefty updates but I've just subbed to psnow tonight so should be good fun to play about with!

I use a Wired PS4 connection and when I'm at other places, as long as they're not using cheap internet and using a decent provider I can honestly play a game like it's no issue. It's definitely better on RPGs etc. But on PS Vita, I was able to play almost anything without issue, even over the net. Direct on Vita is about is good as it gets though. My Phone, Xperia XZ3 is sometimes smoother, then sometimes worse than Vita. It's too varied for no reason. The phones do work flawlessly with DS4 as they're literally a built in input type for the phone. BUT yeah

I used remote play quite often on my Vita for years, even those years where everyone said it didn't work. Worked pretty well from home when I just wanted to lay in bed and play. Playing from work was pretty good, but we have good internet there. Usually public spots were never very good, because the connections there are pretty laggy, and bandwidth is pretty limited.

Didn't have any kind of data plan for the Vita, or even a Vita that could use mobile data, so couldn't speak how well it works there. I know my ISP has pretty limited internet, because I don't pay for an expensive plan.

I think one's experience with remote play is going to be highly dependent on their home network, and general ISP quality, coupled with where they are remote playing from. On the Vita, remote play is more sensitive to signal quality than the streaming services allow for, but it will degrade the quality of the image to the point where it's not even worth playing before it actually cuts out.

I use 100MB Sky internet and it works just fine, with no lag.

This isn't the fastest internet available but Sky seems to be pretty stable and hardly ever gives me any trouble. Except for when it went down for two hours the other day, lol.

When I tested, I used my quite old Xperia and it worked great.

The controller is very responsive as well. Great for sitting in bed I suppose, but some kind of stand is required.

If you have a larger tablet, you're golden.

I thought I would try to outsmart the system and mirror the display to the TV, but the lag is too much and the resolution is poor.

Perhaps it's better on newer mobile devices.

I hear it works pretty well if you have an HDMI out for your phone or tablet.

PSTV is also really good to remote play within the home. I used it quite a bit at my old house in the bedroom.

Error 88001004 for me and can't find how to make it work.

Try uninstalling the app and then attempting communication again.

If that doesn't work then try uninstalling again and then configure communication manually as outlined in the article.

If it still doesn't work try logging out of PSN, reinstalling and attempt communication.

Failing that, get in touch with Sony and quote your error.

Thanks. I tried all that, didn't work. I contacted Sony, they gave me general advices, twice, didn't work. I insisted 3 times that they at least tell me what is exactly that error, they ignored it. What I found that is related is that when I tried to use remote play, my ps4 try to connect to a private IP address that doesn't exist and that isn't the same as my mobile.

Change your IP to a dynamic IP address and the should then be seen as on the same network.

It sucks. I have Android 10 on a Google Pixel 3a and PS4 updated and it's telling me I can't register my PS4 for remote play.

To be fair, the app does seem a little volatile and Sony appears to have dropped the ball a little.

However, there could be many reasons for the app not working and your best bet would be to contact official support.
