I personally don't mind. Single player is the toast of series, and while I understand the multiplayer portion was dear to many, I'm just not all that fazed, personally.

This will be a game I enjoy multiple playthroughs of on different difficulties. For me, the replay value doesn't necessitate multiplayer.

Yeah what a shame I thought they could have went deeper with it and really done a hardcore multiplayer

They were so close with the Last of Us, even if they had an OPTIONAL mode that removed the in game store menu, I just think buying weapons/upgrades/armour kind of contradicted the themes of the world built up in the single player (low supplies, scavenging, ammo being limited etc)

I would have loved to get really gritty and planned by moves out with low ammo or having to sneak around the map to find supplies to upgrade my guns hoping I didn't accidental bump into another player.

After the over the top gimmick nonsense of Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4 it was time we had something more skillful like Uncharted 2.

Even a horde mode would have been fantastic

Imagine they added in a MP mode that mixed in clickers, so battles would require more stealth and traps and instead of just open firefights. Or an infected mode where someone plays as a clicker... they could have done so much. Very upset they cut the MP.

There is no multiplayer games even remotely like TLOU. It was brilliant. I remember trying it on the PS3 and enjoying it so much that I put the single player on the back burner and was ranked top 1000 in the world according to the leaderboards. I went back to it years later and was 8'000'000th lol. I'm actually gutted there ain't a MP mode. It was much better than Uncharteds MP sections I thought.

I have to say though, PS4 lacks heavily in the multiplayer department although singe player games are the best on it. TLOU 1 pretty good multiplayer, they could've done more with it in TLOU2. Xbox for all it's lack of exclusives is the best for multiplayer, Halo/Forza/Gears all have incredible multiplayer modes.

Some people are of the belief that multiplayer is a misallocation of developer/hardware resources in games where campaign modes are first and foremost, and that those resources are better spent on crafting the most solid campaign possible. This is an OK belief to hold.

You're literally calling someone an "idiot" because they're not interested in multiplayer. Naughty Dog, the developer, seem to share Metroid's belief, and don't find its inclusion feasible, in this, their largest game to date.

Though it won't be included in the game, they seem to have hinted at a standalone multiplayer mode in the future. Take comfort in that.

All I have to say now at this point is that alllllll the numskulls that said "duhhh the MP is just taking resources from the SP" Even though TLOU 1 was 10/10 and GOTG , Are going to have to do triple damage control if TLOU 2 does not knock it out of the park and into the next stadium.

I was on the ps bandwagon for a long time because i loved their mp experiences in tlou, resistance, KZ etc. But they are all gone now. Guess its time to actually see what gears is all about. I literally will not buy a ps5 over an xbox because of this news.

Well this would go along with Sony's known ways for this generation. The only real multi-player game they have, is Killzone: Shadow Fall, and it wasn't really all that good. Their other multiplayer games that were popular on PS2/PS3, like Socom, MAG, StarHawk, Motorstorm, Resistance and Playstation Allstars, have been completely tossed into the garbage bin. Too bad really...

Wish there were pve modes too like co op survival/horde against the infected and clickers. Thatd be awesome. Shame since factions was pretty cool. ND seem to always downgrade their mp with each new entry. Uncharted 2s was amazing and then they just weren't as good from there. Love sonys sp games but their mp are sorely lacking. Wish zipper stayed and kept making socom and mag.

If it means no resources are taken away from the single player campaign, it's more than worth it to me personally. TLoU was easily a top 3 best single-player campaign I've ever played. Much more focused on that being the best it can be than it having MP.
