Introducing Hand Tracking on Oculus Quest—Bringing Your Real Hands into VR

True hand-based input for VR will unlock new mechanics for VR developers and creators alike. Hand tracking on Quest will let people be more expressive in VR and connect on a deeper level in social experiences.

Reminds me of Kinect finger tracking. Market a video that looks way more perfect than it actually is without any of the embarrassing glitches. At least they didn't give the impression of playing air instruments with perfect accuracy.

That's pretty awesome for a stand alone doing this so early in VR's life if the tracking is like that and way better than Kinect already. So many options now to have for gameplay without a controller and with a controller.

Impressive for a company I don't really like. Go on with your bad self Facebook. Casuals will love the basic nature of hand tracking without all the buttons. Wish Sony was pushing the envelope more like this. PSVR with its dual cameras could pull this off for simple 180 degree gaming.

Lol...

I agree with a lot of what you're saying but as far as the psvr, you have to remember that the technology you are seeing is pretty new and the psvr has been out for quite some time now. So don't worry, Sony will be pushing the envelope in one way or another when the psvr 2 releases. We can cross our nipples and know that for certain Sony being who they are will deliver.

(Nipple crossing is good for so many reasons, especially reasons that will never matter).

This is very significant. Great news.

Is it just that easy? I'm genuinely asking.

Babadook7528d ago (Edited 528d ago )

For a few games it's pretty easy. Just need to apply the mod and settings. For most of them of course you need tinker yourself with settings at the moment but it's not that hard (apparently).

RiseNShine527d ago (Edited 527d ago )

It's as easy or complex as you want, most of the big games like Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, etc, , hundreds of them (check flatscreen to vr discord) have some profiles already made, so you just load them and it automatically sets the best settings others modders have already found, so it's a matter of minutes, but of course you can tinker for hours to make it suit your needs.
