Hopefully they improve on from what they gave with Mafia III, this time around. Mafia III had a good story, but the repetitiveness in gamplay and bugs is what hurt the game overall.

LucasRuinedChildhood2039d ago

Mafia 3 was a lot like Days Gone. There was some good stuff in there but it was dragged down by a poor balance between main missions and side missions, the outdated design of the open world and a huge amount of bugs. They could easily rectify these issues in a sequel. Mafia 3 felt much better to play than Mafia 2, the main missions were solid, and the soundtrack and story were great so they did enough things right to make me hopeful for a sequel.

Those two games really shouldn't be compared.

DerfDerf2039d ago

I agree. Mafia 3 did a lot of good things, but pacing issues as well repetition and the lack of fast travel really hurt it. You would clear out an area just to then have to go back to that same area for a final showdown. It was a weird design choice as was the lack of fast travel.

RedDevils2038d ago

Can you bring the Days Gone BS somewhere else, I see your comments every with the same BS,

loved the mafia 3 story - hated how far you had to drive to do missions.

Completely agree with everything you said.

TheColbertinator2039d ago

Best location for the next Mafia would be 70s Chicago.

warriorcase2039d ago

This. The main missions were actually quiet good but in between them you had to do the same thing over and over to fill a pointless bar up to unlock the next mission. There's a PC mod that drastically lowers it which is nice, but like Mafia 2, they should just remove it completely and just stick to creating a straight forward story without pitstops.

Mafia 3 was pretty good but the world was too big with little to do apart from goto next mission. Also the performance was absolutely shocking

sander97022038d ago

I honestly hope Hangar 13 doesn't get to make Mafia 4, best case scenario is that they buy Warhorse Studios from THQ Nordic and let them create it since they are the ones who made Mafia 1&2.

traumadisaster2038d ago

I found the same in M2. Yes I could drive all over town and mess a bit with pedestrians but that’s it. Only story mode icons had activity.

That’s kind of fine especially since I cared for the story. Just don’t make me drive all over the map when it’s not fun.

Bigman4k2039d ago (Edited 2039d ago )

Mafia 2 is a good game but for people like me who played it its a very short game they better off remastering first mafia game

DerfDerf2039d ago

Mafia 2 is light years better than Mafia 1. It's not even close. It's also not as short as you are making it out to be. Mafia 1s size doesn't warrant a remaster over Mafias 2 superior....well everything. It was a real treat on PC with physx enabled as well. Hopefully that carries over into the remaster.

Bigman4k2039d ago

It was short as I said you know this if you play it

SkatterBrain2039d ago

Do You Remember how fast the cars drove in Mafia 1 , I mean theyre going for authenticity but damn

traumadisaster2038d ago

During the ps360 days M2 on 4kpc was a treat! I enjoyed the story as I like the mafia story genre.

Hell im still playing The Godfather on ps3. I have it on pc but I prefer the controller for that game.

Bioshock still looks fantastic, one of my all time favorites.

Yui_Suzumiya819d ago

Beyond: Two Souls on PS3 can compete with modern day graphics.

SonyStyled819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

Same as Killzone 2 and 3, uncharted 2 and 3, Infamous 2, Heavy Rain, Resistance 3

jasonismoney819d ago

I wish this was entirely true, but you might want to load up Killzone 2 and Resistance 3 again.

SonyStyled819d ago

@jason I watched some gameplay videos of KZ2 and R3 on my full screen. They are on par or succeed graphically to the first person shooters mentioned in the article that also launched on the seventh generation of consoles. Try the same and see what you think

cthulhucultist818d ago

Killzone 3 was super impressive! I could not believe the graphics back then as I was regularly pausing the game to stand in awe looking at the surroundings! Resistance however did not impress me that much. Heavy rain is also another amazing graphically speaking game. It almost felt next gen

Fist4achin819d ago

I always thought the first 3 Gears of War games looked great and still hold up for today.

SonyStyled819d ago

They did for their day. I recently played gears judgement with on the 360 and the draw distance was so blurry. The characters up close look great though

JEECE819d ago

Far Cry 2 was awesome. In addition to having demonstrably better physics and AI than later games in the series, it had a lot of design decisions that, criticized at the time, have since been praised in games like BOTW and Dark Souls.

iNcRiMiNaTi819d ago

It might not be super amazing by today's standard but I thought Mgs3 looked really good

JEECE819d ago

In terms of art style it still holds up.
