Gears 5 Xbox One X vs Xbox One vs PC Graphics Analysis: One of The Best Looking Games of All Time

What The Coalition has achieved with Gears 5 is nothing short of extraordinary. A lot of work has clearly gone into optimizing all three platforms according to their strengths and improving the visual fidelity compared to Gears 4. The base Xbox One version does a decent job of proving a great Gears experience although with performance compromises. The Xbox One X, too, excels with phenomenal adherence to 60fps and a large operating resolution but it’s the PC version that is truly head and shoulders above the console versions. Featuring a wide variety of options and the inclusion of Ultra Textures really sets it apart from other platforms. Regardless of whatever platform you play the game on, you can be assured of one thing. Gears of War is back with a bang!

Havent gamed on pc for years, since right around the xb1 launch. But decided to grab a decent rig a few months ago and couldn't possibly go back unless absolutely necessary. Only 16GB DDR4 paired with a RTX 2080, still enough to blow my One X out of the water in every game I've tested. Gears 4 at 4K ultra settings with 60fps was breathtaking. Needless to say, my PC is ready

Umm AC Odyssey overall looks like ass, don't know why that was mentioned, on top of not being optimized worth a dam until way after post-launch in typical Ubi fashion. if you were to pick a single asset maybe, but the overall quality when it all comes together combined with motion looks like a hot pile a garbage a lot of the time. Gears is definitely a feat, no need to hate. I am a PC guy and even I am impressed by the visuals, especially considering the hardware needed to achieve those visuals. You can still get a really good looking game with very weak hardware.

I know people on PC that are in utter amazement at the visuals on Star Citizen when you run everything on 4K Ultra, with every little setting turned up to the brink. But the hardware required to do so, less than 0.01% of the PC gaming population even comes close or matches that. I use to own Xbox's and Playstation's was never a Gears fan, definitely a Halo guy but this game has me interested. Plus I have Ultimate pass for my PC so its free :D

I've played metro,shadow of tomb raider on the X and no they do not look better although they do look good. Seen God of war on my bros pro, and as good as it looks not as good as this. Now last of us patched made me laugh pretty hard 😂🤣😂

@Zeref To answer your question. Tomb Raider, Metro, Assassin's Creed on PC. Just like Gears 5 is running on a PC in the video. You sound like 4K resolution is the only thing that matters when it comes to making a game look good. Just look up God of War on a base PS4 or Ryse on a OG Xbox.

@Livingthedream I played Metro (still am thanks to PC gamepass) and Tomb Raider on PC and I think they look better than Gears 5 on PC (going of the test I played a few weeks ago). It's not about 4K resolution. Its about attention to detail as well. I also seen a friend play Forza 7 on his Xbox One and thought it looked like crap. Until I then sat down and actually played it and thought wow this looks amazing one of the best looking racing titles on console to date.

@ocelot07 Metro has RTX features, if you had those on, then the ground you stand on is highly questionable. Also again Tomb Raider another RTX based title. Starting to have a feeling that you have a 20's series Nvidia card. In that case, every point you just made is literally pointless.

Let's use Cyberpunk 2077 as an example of why your argument isn't valid. Remember the E3 trailer, that everybody is saying got downgraded come Gamescom. That trailer was running on a Intel based system with a 2080ti, 1080p with everything on Ultra including RTX features. Now fast forward to Gamescom and its running on an Xbox that lacks RTX and a lot of the higher-end graphical settings you get on PC and everybody is screaming "downgrade". It was never a downgrade, they just went from PC to Console, from Physic based lighting to Artificial lighting. Feel like people constantly seem to forget how big of a difference RTX actually makes to the overall look of a game.

With that said if you don't have an RTX based card, idk what to tell you. Guess beauty is really in the eye of the beholder. Because with RTX off, Metro is average at best, same with Tomb Raider.

@MarkyMark89 I have a 1080ti so not RTX features for me. Not sure what to tell you other than my opinion. I thought Shadow Of The Tomb Raider was a fantastic looking game not best looking game of all time but pretty darn good in 4K with mostly high/ultra settings.

Same with Metro. Ill be playing Gears 5 tomorrow at the best settings I can possibly do to hit a constant 60FPS. Just like I did on the test. It was a very nice looking game but best of all time? Nope not for me and I am pretty certain my opinion's wont change tomorrow.

Yes the last of us on pro. Looks much better than GOW4. As for 5 and in terms of graphic quality not resolution then yer I think last of us looks better. That's my opinion. I don't own a Xbox so I can't compare. Only pc where I played the gears test at multiple resolutions.

I remember The Coalition saying that they would treat every platform equally and it seems as if they have done exactly that. 1080p/30 on base hardware is insane for a game of this level on that hardware. X is pushing 4k/60 in all modes and Windows 10 at max settings is said to be a sight to behold. Great job Coalition.

The video also mention that gears 4 runs on xbox one x 4k/60 thats not True. The Game lets you choose between performance or graphics Mode. Which means either 4k/30 or 1080p/60.
Dont make me wrong i own xbox one x. But its not professional to make comments like that in a professional video. Plus i bet that gears 5 Will not run 4k/60 on xbox one x. Lets see the digital foundry video in a few days for that
