Gears 5 Multiplayer Tech Test Gameplay

Gears 5 recently completed two rounds of its multiplayer tech test, designed to stress out the servers and give gamers an advanced look at the competitive multiplayer modes.

When all I use is the gnasher and torque bow because most of the other weapons bore me lol.

That was some good torque bow gameplay that one person was doing. Game is bringing back a lot of fun memories of Gears Multiplayer.

Can't wait to play this new release now.

My most fond memories are of the original game on 360. Hosting and shotgunning - didn't get any more ridiculous than that. I almost always hosted and people got so angry. My score would be in the twenties and the rest of the team made three kills if they were lucky.

Lmao! That is so funny. I would hear that constantly when playing Gears.

I would get PM's cussing me out saying the only reason I won was because of host advantage.

But the best was when playing MP and I had this one guy on my team who always instantly died and then would be spectating me playing while backseat nagging on what I should be doing. And if I died that person would get mad at me. I would instantly ask him, "Where were you?!?" and that would shut him up real fast.

It was a lot of fun. I found it interesting that you had to earn the Gnasher during the match, and even then you only had a limited number of shots. Kept things a little more varied.

I love that it was tied to a specific class, and would typically mean experienced gnasher players weren't also able to dominate with long ranged weaponry at the same time (unless they survived long enough to nab a loose sniper). The balance is restored!

I totally missed out on the tech test, can't wait till Sept 6th!!

I'm looking forward to this mode, it's a nice change of pace from gnashers.

Totally agree. It's refreshing to have a renewed emphasis on the lancer, enforcer etc... I'm glad that Arcade feels noticeably different from traditional Gears multiplayer. Roll on that early Game Pass release :-)

Gameplay seems solid but it feels exactly like Gears4.
My impression is this will be the media's reason to thrash the game into the 7/10 score zone this time.

Does not feel exactly like gears 4, it's a gears game so there's similarities, but the ranged weapons have received a nice boost, on addition to that the shotgun is significantly more powerful than gears 4 when hip firing. There's plenty of other tweeks they that really changed the way games have to be approached.

Arcade is definitely the biggest change. The flow of each match is quite different.
