Doom 3 Review (Nintendo Switch) - Pixelated Gamer

If you rewind back to 2004, I was busy building my very first gaming PC. It was a massive tower, with large blue LED fans and Nvidia’s latest monster GPU, the GeForce 6800 Ultra. It took a long time to save up for this beast, but it was all in anticipation for Doom 3 and it was worth every penny. 15 years later and I’m once again reliving this fantastic title, but incredibly on a portable system.

Were not talking about Doom 3 on the pc though. Its about having a game like this and running so well on a handheld. Ive got the ps4 pro version on a 4k oled and it looks and holds up very good on the switch, compared to that.

Youre not gonna notice much difference compared to the pc either. Especially compared to doom on switchs smaller screen. Doubt youve even played it on the switch. Until then you cant really comment on it.

It's a game from 2004. The game is 15 years old. 15 years. It would be more surprising if it didn't run on a modern gaming device. That's the equivalent of being amazed by the original Doom (1993) running on a PS3 in 2008. That's how ridiculous you sound.

Nicknasty - not to be taking sides, but the review is for Doom 3 and you mention Doom 3 in your comment - as such, anyone reading your comment would think you were talking about Doom 3, not the original Doom.

Which Doom are you talking about then? Doom (2016) or the first Doom? If you are talking about the original Doom, you sound even more ridiculous.

Haven't played this one in a long time. That's cool they included the expansion packs. Might have to pick it up for that price.

I feel like your giveing this game a 9.8 to make the switch look good. This game wasnt anything past an 8 back then and its not now especially on the switch

I gave it that score because I personally had that much fun with it. It's been many years since I played it and I just had a blast going back through the campaign. Especially on the go ;b

The score simply reflects my experience and enjoyment out of it, nothing else. Can't wait for Doom Eternal now!

Yeah, it was a solid game, but far from the best Doom game, certainly nowhere near a 10.

really? Doom 3 was a technical achievement at the time and was the benchmark for so many things back in 2004.

But I would imagine this score reflects the opinion of the author. If you feel it deserves an 8, then it's an 8 to you. Reviews aren't people forcing their beliefs on you, simply their own experiences.

I remember playing this game back then,it was one of the first games that really disappointed me. After being hyped about it for years even going as far as downloading a leaked alpha. I finally got the game and got bored after 4 hours of playing , it was just too damn repetitive. Endless corridor after another fighting the same enemy types for most of the game. Eventually I just stopped playing all together and never finished it. With that said giving a port of a 15 year old game that wasn't that good to begin with a 9.8 seems ridiculous considering a near perfect game would be a 10.

I have a 1080 gpu that when I use the flashlight on the PC version of Doom 3, adds additional elements and won't turn off. As we know, you have to turn your fl on early in the game, so this was an issue at any resolution too. Weird.
Bought the PS4 version and just feels weird playing with a controller but still special place in my heart for this game.
And is it me or is the PS4 version easier than original on PC??

The new port is the BFG edition which changed a lot from the original PC version.
