Wolfenstein: Youngblood Review - IGN

Youngblood is aggressively okay, but doesn’t come close to recapturing the joy of its predecessor.

badz1491749d ago

if IGN is giving it this score, then it doesn't look good for the game already

KyRo1749d ago

And your basing your view from IGN of all places? IGN have been known for being paid off, changing scores and have exclusives review bombed by fan boys of the opposite console.

It baffles me why casuals see IGN as the Holy grail of reviews. Like their word is final and no other publication matters.

Maybe it is a 6.5 game but take anything IGN scores with a pinch of salt.

Hungryalpaca1749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

Many other reviewers are saying wait for it to be on sale. The daughters are painfully boring and the level design is very average. It’s also becoming more sanitized in the executions and brutality.

It’s just an average passable game.

badz1491749d ago

"IGN have been known for being paid off..."

THAT was exactly my point. if they can't pay IGN to give it more than 6.5, it just means that other unpaid reviews might look much worse

King_Noctis1749d ago

If you look around Metacritic, it not only IGN who gave this game low score. Sites like Destructoid and COGConnected also gave this game low score. Are you saying those sites are biased and were paid off as well?

https://www.metacritic.com/...

GamingIVfun1749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

14 of the 19 reviews on metacritic, as of July 26, gave the game 79 or above, 13 are 80 or above. It's good game that is only 30 dollars. It's a co-op RPG shooter that looks and plays amazingly well. I'm enjoying it and would give it an 85 - 89 out of a 100. It's a better than average game.

quent1748d ago

So how bad a score would this have gotten if IGN wasn't paid off?

GamingIVfun1748d ago

Should have added that the metacritic scores were for the PC version.

killswitch801749d ago

Game Informer gave it an 85..having played the game its around 80 to 85. IGN is filled with Nazis

CP_Company1749d ago

badz149, can you imagine a scenario, where IGN did not get any money and decided to bomb the review because of that? with the message : you will pay us or will bomb it again.

xVOLTx1749d ago

If anyone believes reviews overall It is sad. Reviews are not reliable.

Silly gameAr1748d ago

Well, there's a demo, so you can try it out for yourself.

zielocz3k1749d ago

Control looks medicore at best

SkatterBrain1749d ago

i still had fun with Quantum Break , i just kept forgetting which buttons did which powers and which powers needed to be used at certain spots

killswitch801749d ago

because of IGN LMAO. Other review sites actually gave it good remarks. I bought both and preorderd a bunch of other games because I do my own research and just use refund policies and see if I actually like it myself.. but again you canceled because of IGN my side hurts from laughing..Game Informer gave it an 8.5 so yeah its got a mixed bag of reviews.

jznrpg1749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

I wouldn’t go off IGN or any singular review. Read several reviews at least . Most of the reviews I have seen give it an 8/10

SkatterBrain1749d ago

i seriously feel stupid for passing on Days Gone for $26 just cause of the average reviews, next time i see it that low ill snatch it

SkatterBrain1749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

havent Been Dissapointed by any Remedy Game, I just wish everything felt like the Sniper bullet in Max Payne, where the camera followed it to its target

SkatterBrain1748d ago

yeah but like a few weeks ago i saw it for $30 on new egg with a discount code and $26 on this other deal i saw , the main reason i skipped out was that my 2 terabyte PS4 was full and even my 2 external 1 terabyte hard drives, bricked my last Firecuda so im trying to avoid using an external drive

Picking my copy up tonight.

-Foxtrot1749d ago

They need to make this non-canon...like STRAIGHT AWAY, just say it and get us hyped for Wolfenstein 3

Don't make Anya have twins, if she does then have them as a boy and a girl or say one of them was killed fuelling their rage against the Nazi's

I just don't understand why they didn't make a spin off featuring Anya. They could have set it straight after the second game where BJ needs rescuing and have her lead the way.

A pregnant bad ass killing Nazi's, least Anya is more established and likable

LOGICWINS1749d ago

After how poorly this one sells, I'm sure it'll be non-canon.

Yui_Suzumiya1749d ago

I'm sure this will do fine.. It's my first preorder since Doom 2016

Sciurus_vulgaris1749d ago

The twins regardless of their sex, already have a good reason to hate Nazis. They were born during the revolution against Nazis that started at the end of The New Colossus.
Also a pregnant woman fighting Nazis was absolutely ridiculous, even for Wolfenstein.

-Foxtrot1749d ago

REALLY? You did see her and BJ have sex in the middle of an outpost after killing a bunch of Nazis and having blood everywhere

Considering a pregnant Anya already did half that shit in the sequel it’s no where near ridiculous so let’s not bullshit

Sciurus_vulgaris1749d ago

Wolfenstein is an FPS game and Dialling back the lubricious aspects of The New Colossus will probably be beneficial for Wolfenstein 3. Unfortunately, The New Colossus was written by a person who comes off as an SJW with a pregnancy fetish.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

Harryvok640d ago

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

RTCW is wayy better than New Colossus.
RTCW should get the 1st spot but I'll settle for a 2nd spot for RTCW in order avoid unneeded quarrel with late 2000s new gamers - and this is coming from an late 90s, early 2000s FPS lover. (RTCW is one of the best single player FPS eve made and one of my fav game)

porkChop711d ago

Wolfenstein 2009 doesn't get enough credit. It was genuinely good, I really enjoyed it. I think the reboot series from MachineGames is certainly better, but the 2009 game is still worth playing.

RaidenBlack711d ago

I had high hopes for Wolf 2009 especially after RTCW and Enemy Territory. And also because none other than Raven was developing it.
But they couldn't quite hit the mark. It turned out okayish. But after RTCW, it seemed pretty underwhelming as a sequel.

porkChop710d ago

Agreed that RTCW is clearly better. Though I don't think I had played that yet when I played the 2009 game.

Gridknac711d ago

I still favor Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I like the Indiana Jones and the Nazis messing with the supernatural vibe.

Sciurus_vulgaris711d ago

I remember buying Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Xbox when I was a teen. It was my first Wolfenstein title. I found the game challenging yet enjoyable.

Number1TailzFan711d ago

RTCW was one of my first online MP experiences with broadband, both online and single player campaign was very fun.

RaidenBlack711d ago

I consider RTCW as one of the best FPS campaigns made. The mood, the pacing was just really good, especially for an early 2000s PC game. And it was pretty difficult too.

moriarty1889710d ago

Wolfenstein 2009 is still my favorite by a mile. The variety of locations like the farm level and others were so colorful and fun to explore. The story as well with the Dark Sun and the enemies. Just very well thought out and BJ was perfect in it with his look and demeanor.

JL2930710d ago

2009 game way too low on this list. Original Wolfenstein is not better than any of the modern games.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Review - Judging the Indiana Jones Devs' Future Quality From Their Last Work

Jason says, "The devs of the future Indiana Jones game made this game. So duh, I decided I’d review their last work to get a feel for the potential quality of their future work!

In case you don’t know, Wolfenstein: Youngblood continues the Wolfenstein storyline of the modern games but as a spinoff centered around BJ’s daughters. It also continues along with the fast-paced, smooth-as-butter FPS action its modern revival and counterpart Doom have so competently brought back."

Here come the Bethesda fud 😂😂😂

Article on N4G tomorrow... "Doom was never very good or revolutionary..."

Battlestar231153d ago (Edited 1153d ago )

The spider-man games when multi-platorm were great now that it's exclusive to PS they are crap with SJW writing.

NeoGamer2321153d ago

I disagree. The Spider-man exclusives on PS are the only Spider-man games worth playing. They are very good.

anast1153d ago

This like a "Pet Sematary" article. It's probably not a good idea to go about bringin' up things that should be dead.
