Nintendo recently revealed the much-rumored smaller version of the massively popular Nintendo Switch. The Switch Lite will provide players with a stripped down version of the portable console that only allows users to play it in handheld mode, but at $100 less than the original Switch. It's all-around smaller, lighter, and doesn't feature removable Joy-Cons.
While players can sync up outside Joy-Cons and the Pro controller wirelessly, it may not be preferred as the Lite is geared towards those on the go, and more accessories just means more to carry around. That said, when it comes to the games, there may be some that will be better on the upcoming handheld device.
Hogwarts Legacy has remained in first place on the UK retail charts, according to GfK data for the week ending April 19, 2025.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, following the release of the PS5 version, came in second place.
Astro Bot dropped one spot to third place, while Monster Hunter Wilds remained in fourth place. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is up one spot to fifth place and EA Sports FC 25 is up six spots to sixth place.
Playstation owners buy games.
Strange seeing Hogwarts there as I downloaded it for my son from PS Plus a couple of days ago.
2nd on the charts for a game such as Indy ain’t great.
Releasing half year after xbox version probably cooled off some demand.
This is a very good game, deserves the best chance to do well.
The real great performer here is Astrobot. keeping that rate of sales for a last year's game that is not GTAV, CoD and FIFA (now Hogwarts too). outselling MH Wilds and EA FC is kinda wild for Astrobot!
The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console worldwide with 1,137,164 units sold for March 2025, according to VGChartz estimates. The PlayStation 5 has now sold an estimated 75.28 million units lifetime worldwide.
The Nintendo Switch sold an estimated 547,216 units to bring its lifetime sales to 150.25 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 263,531 units to bring their lifetime sales to 32.73 million units.
Year-on-year so far:
PS5
• Jan. -31%
• Feb. -7%
• Mar. -11.1%
X|S
• Jan. -48%
• Feb. -21%
• Mar. -27.5%
Funny how the console with 'no games' outsells its key competitor by nearly 1 million units.
This peripheral is ghostly good.
I’m not sure how these would be any better on the lite? I mean if it were, “7 Nintendo Switch Games That Should Be Better on the Switch than the Switch Lite,” then it’d make more sense since you have the option to play on a larger screen.
At first I was thinking that the article would touch on games that suffer with really low resolutions on handheld mode and therefore would look a little better on a smaller screen. But no, the article basically list 6 games that they think play better in a portable, all while forgetting that the original Switch can also be used as a portable device. And in some cases like Super Smash Bros, the normal Switch is a far better option as it features two controllers that allow for local multiplayer.
The only game on this list that doesn't follow this rationalite is Dragon Ball FighterZ. Where they list the D-Pad as a reason for why the game would play better on the Lite. While I agree that is true, for $20 one can get a HORI D-Pad for the original console, that does the same thing.
Right now the only reason for getting a Switch Lite is the price. Because the new Switch revision looks like a better deal in all other aspects. It comes with two controllers, can dock to your TV, have a bigger screen and now offer a good battery time.
