I get the collection aspect of g ame covers but surely I cannot be the only one who doesn't care that much about them..I mean dont judge the book by its cover and all that, right?

darthv722122d ago

wow, those are really good.

-Foxtrot2122d ago

Right? They look really good

The steelbook isn't as bad as I thought to be honest, these days Steelbook designs are getting lazy compared to the standard box art which is full of colour and fantastic art.

I mean look at a few of these released over the year or two alone compared to the colourful standard box art

Bland background, games title slapped on front or a symbol/logo from the game

KingHippo192122d ago

Steelbook looks great, so good in fact that I'd rather buy that version for the cover alone. Now I wish the regular edition had some of that fan art.

darthv722122d ago

the god of war one is really disappointing. I would say the same of spiderman but i kind of dig the all red look. I actually went with the press release version that has the same white spider on red background on one side and the image of spiderman in the city on the other.

TheEnigma3132120d ago

fan art always looks better. Companies should start using fan art for their covers.

leejohnson2222120d ago

Hope these guys work within design as they are impressive

Stanjara2120d ago

These are fantastic...the selected cover is terrible.

shammgod2120d ago

Damn! I haven’t seen these, thanks.

I think there will always be fan art and interpretations that will be better than the original art or chosen art. I would like to see some of these creators get their work on game art though.

AK912120d ago

Jesus Christ those are amazing

Inzo2119d ago

Damn those look brilliant.

King_Noctis2117d ago

Some of those look really great. Thanks for sharing.

That's not proof, it's your opinion
which means you are lying, or you are a writer for a living who doesn't know what "prove" means
which is it?

anast28d ago

Content writers have to be hyperbolic.

Bwremjoe28d ago

On n4g, I frequently get so annoyed by comments that I take the time to login so I can downvote someone. Today is such a day. What a pointless comment…

jambola28d ago

that's pretty pathetic
Can't believe you're talking about pointless, and bragging about downvoting someone lmao

DMgHalt28d ago

I logged in just to downvote as well, and even took the time to comment to make them aware of the fact lmao

Got the Director's Cut platinum a couple of hours ago.
Ready for DS2 now.

Storm2343d ago

I have been slowly working my way though this game for months. I keep playing other games in between but I want to finish it before DS2.

Knushwood Butt43d ago

I ended up with over 140 hours on it, but I wasn't exactly rushing. Ended up seeing to it that all roads were rebuilt too.
There are still a few Half Life missions left that I think I'll do.

lukasmain43d ago

Man I love this game. Platinumed it and played through it a 2nd time just for fun. I'm day 1 with bells on for the sequel

anast43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

In still drop in this world from time to time. I just played it yesterday.

Video Games Proud To Not Be For Everyone

Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.

If you make something for everyone, you please no one.

mkis007101d ago

I mean I can do without nintendo games if given the choice. They are not nearly as mature rated as the average.

Yui_Suzumiya101d ago (Edited 101d ago )

Yeah but I use my Switch OLED primarily for anime booba style games (visual novels and JRPG's) and ultra violent FPS's. Far from kid friendly, lol

JohnBLZ100d ago

The problem with that line of though is that games have never been as much "for everyone" as in 2025.
The only thing that's not for everyone in gaming lately is the gatekeeping. Devs will try to appeal to as many people as they can, but if you dare have your own tastes and prefer something a bit more obscure, then you have "L takes" because at the moment, popular opinion equals right opinion.
So devs should simply own the fact they water down their games and go Hollywood to please everybody. Then indies will go back to being trendsetters that are different from AAAs, instead of being roguelike and gacha copycats.

JohnBLZ100d ago

Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.

jznrpg100d ago

No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else
