Let's be honest here.

Uncharted's has better character models, better textures, and better lighting.

Tomb Raiders has more realistic grass patches (Uncharted has those spiky things in the ground), and from these screens Tomb Raider may have better shadows if it's consistent since I know Uncharted has great shadows as well.

Overall Uncharted looks better, and I'm sure it will be the better game. As far as Uncharted 2 I think the game would be better if it was more open world, not like a GTA or anything, but you know how MGS4 had different routes you could take to get to the same place they should add that and let you explore the forest and temples some more. Oh and they need to fix Nate's platforming animations and make it a little challenging. He looks like a monkey, and he's suppose to be this average Joe, so give it more of an Assassin's Creed look with a hint of Assassin's Creed feel to it,. It was far to easy to jump from section to section and you could even stay on a limb that was going to break without it falling. Give more danger to the platforming without making it overly difficult.

I am stunned by the sheer beauty of the graphics. The clothes actually look wet and heavy. The skin shaders are easily the best for in-game graphics. For example, you can easily see the subtle undulations on the wrists formed by tendons, veins and muscles or the lighting realistically shining off, as well as through, the skin. Amazing. Add to that the superb environmental textures and it's clear that there isn't a much that Naughty Dog needs to do to improve the engine for their next game. It's already at the top of the heap for this kind of game.

Tomb Raider? It was a good effort. You can see that they really put some thought into the design and it shows (although the person who designed the character models ought to be shot). Still, their technology is simply not in the same league as Naughty Dog's.

OK I just downloaded the Tomb Raider director trailer on PSN, and I have to say it looks A LOT BETTER than these pictures, the animations are incredible, the graphics are just as good as Uncharted but it had better vegetation, and the gun play is a lot better than previous Tomb Raiders and finally fills next gen.

But it did have problems and the game is releasing this month I believe. The framerate was OK, there was some minor but occasional slow down, and the enemies so far have been nothing but animals like tigers, and giant salamanders which still sucks, but I'm much more impressed by this game now, and Uncharted looks like it may have some competition from Lara this go round.

Tomb Raider is a great game. i played all series since since Tomb Raider 1 (PS1).

Graphically, Uncharted wins.

Tomb Raider 1 - 3 were very innovative and graphically superior games. However, eventually the series compleatly sold out!! The game is now multiplatform including on P.C. to garentee that it will rake in the cash. However, this lowers the demand for graphic exellence and innovation and banks on the image of Laura Croft instead. With upcoming games like uncharted there is a high demand for graphic exellence and innovation to get the game noticed. This is why these games are looking better.

Alot of the continuing franchises are failing to deliver such as Silent Hill and Alone in the dark because the franchises become sell outs and forget why the games were once fun to play.

Lara looks as good as always, and no doubt the new TR looks good overall, but I'd have to give the overall game nod to Uncharted. Graphics aside, Uncharted has the better gameplay. Similar in style, but Uncharted will most likely have the better gameplay engine. The duck and cover system in Uncharted makes the gunplay a lot of fun. The run and gun system in TR is somewhat dated. I'm not saying that Uncharted's gameplay is original or new, but it works and what's in the game definitely works and the game shows a lot of polish. Typical of Naughty Dog quality. I can't wait for the new Uncharted sequel as well as the upcoming Jak 4 on PS3.

Thanks. That's how I remember Uncharted - some aliasing issues and you could spot the polygons and some of the lower-res textures. Not that it detracts from the game, after all, all games have similar issues, to a greater or lesser extent. But it really annoys me when people post up lower-res screens of games that look better than it actually does when I put it in my PS3.

Oh OK still some hate for me eh? You think that Uncharted DOESN'T have graphical issues here and there? You think that Uncharted's graphics couldn't be improved upon? LOOK AT THE ALIASING!! Hey, just FYI. These shots are crap, too. Have a res of 4600x2592, which basically is 2300x1476, and totally odd multiplier for a 1280x720 native resolution, and thus adds distortion to each pixel. Just saying. Further more these shots are blurry but amplify shortcomings in the visuals.

So, if you want to compare HD shots, they should be from the signal directly (or better a dump from the framebuffer, no compression, etc). These are upscaled, non even pixel multiplier of 1.8x2.05 (who does that???).

None the less, discuss Uncharted shortcomings whatever you want (I think actually the water has progressed since UC was released), but these shots are still an eye opener to those who think Tomb Raider can light a candle here.

Uncharted has anti-aliasing. Not 16xAA though if thats what you suddenly raised your expectation to.

However, my games usually run @ 720p. Using a lens to find shortcoming doesn't help either, because I do not recall I played games with a multiplied resolution (even though one of my 42" can actually zoom seamlessly). I agree, comparing low res pictures doesn't help, either.

I didn't mention AA at all, and I also think that UC possibly can be improved (I mentioned water because I have seen better fluid dynamics lately, for example).

But, this is nitpicking. What the shots showed, IMO, is a significant difference for both games. That's all.

in my opinion, so far, from what I have played of Tomb Raider, it seems like a more fun and more interesting game based on exploration, Uncharted was just a run here, shoot them, jump there, shoot them, annoying seadoo coming up, shoot the barrels, shoot them, run here, shoot them, jump here, run here, jeep time, it was a pain in the ass really.

But TR seems to be more exploration oriented and so far the environments that I have seen look more interesting, but that is just my opinion, and yes I have played Uncharted a good bit, I am not just basing my Uncharted talk off of videos or nothing I played it up until the part where you have to ring 2 huge bells then I just stopped.

So the TR demo was more fun than the parts of Uncharted I played.

i looked at the comparison, raider does fall pretty short compared to uncharted. Ive played the tomb raider demo, very smooth frame rate with no vsync issues at all.

if you played underworld, it stands pretty strong on it's own, considering all the tomb raider game's from 2006 and back looked a lot less than this one.

IMO I'm more of a lara fan and prefer chicks more than dudes, so tomb raider is my cup of tea.

Uncharted is one of the most lush, beautiful, and graphically stunning games on the PS3. Whenever you get wet in Uncharted, Drakes clothes actually look "wet" by turning a darker color and having a certain sheen to them that makes them look like real wet clothes and his clothes slowly dry over time and turn back to the original color.... I don't think I've ever seen that done in a video game before that realistically until I played Uncharted.

I was never a fan of the Tomb Raider series and have only played demos of past Tomb Raider games, but Uncharted is a great step above Tomb Raider to me. Plus, the Cover System in Uncharted is just Brilliant and Uncharted has higher production values.

Uncharted is the all around better game IMO. The graphics in Drake's also bring a much more immerse feel to them you just can't see in screenshots that I doubt tomb raider will have. Like when you get into the water or when it rains your clothes look wet. Im not sure but I don't think there's another game out that does that. Water reflections don't just have a mirror effect but the ripples distort the image properly. Also the plants move when you touch them and to show things like how hard the wind is blowing. Lighting and shadows are wonderful and facial expressions are really detailed. The only thing I didn't like are the explosions which aren't bad but could be much better. Don't get me wrong I hope tomb raider is good, but I just doubt it will come anywhere close to Uncharted's graphics, gameplay, voice acting, or story.

I actually have Gears and Im not impressed by the graphics, theyre great but not the best like many like to claim. First of all there glitches. The characters look like action figures. Some of the backgrounds are bland and I feel theres too many rectangles and squares (for taking cover of course.Graphically Unreal Tournament or Gears are not really the style Im into, I was also wondering why people praised Unreal T so much for its graphics. BTW this doesnt mean I didnt enjoy them, i like both games.

Best Graphics so far on consoles would go to GT5P, Uncharted, MGS4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Ratchet and Clank.I think MGS4 Sh!ts on most.
Oh and cant forget some of the new games such as Mirrors Edge, great art style.

anyway, Uncharted blows this game out of the water graphically. i downloaded the TR demo on my 360, and there really isn't any comparison graphically.

Uncharted has better textures, better animation, better character models.

with that said, i can't wait for TR: Underworld, because i love Tomb Raider, and i think Crystal Dynamics did a fantastic job revitalizing the series. i had almost lost faith in the franchise until TR: Legend and Anniversary.

besides, Tomb Raider and Uncharted are completely different games in the GAMEPLAY department.

Tomb Raider is more a puzzle based action/platformer.

while Uncharted is more of an action based action/platformer.

both are ripping off of the current Prince of Persia games anyway (ie, Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and Two Thrones).

there's always room for more games in the "Indiana Jones pulp adventure genre," so i don't see why Lara and Nate have to compete in the first place.

Graphically i would say Drakes has the edge on Tombraider but i think judging by the demi of underworld i played that Tombraider has the better level design.
As for graphics on a console having played gears2 today i would say thats miles better than uncharted graphically.

My god that game is fun! I've only played a minute or two of Tomb Raider and didn't have as much fun with that game as I did with Uncharted, so it gets the nod in gameplay.
Graphically, it looks like Uncharted gets the nod too. Plus(and I love this), you can look at all the pretty locales and experience the gameplay without any loading times. It's seamless, and therefore perfect. I don't know how Naughty Dog did it, but it's amazing, and I can't wait for the sequel. I'm buying it at launch.

Even though Tomb Raider has been confirmed by several sources to look better on PS3 still if Tomb Raider were only exclusive to the PS3 they could of done so much more.

Pretty much all the comments above is a whole bunch of ps3 fan boys getting their panties in a bunch, Oh my god how dare they compare a game to uncharted, pretty sad guys pretty sad!!!! Pretty much Uncharted is just aka "Dude Raider" I'm glad you enjoy the game but Wow Take the fan boy to the extreme. This game will probably still do well in sales because both systems get to enjoy it.

its the only game thats almost two years old, and its still $60!!!! where is the price drop?!?!? gta4 went down, why not Uncharted? but one of the best games i played, graphics and story-wised..im sured U2 will be even better and a longer gameplay **spoiler, but im sure everyone played it* (except for those zombie thingys)

Uncharted is just 1 year old, came out November 07. But don't worry, it will soon become a greatest hit.

Yeah, Uncharted is really a technical marvel. One of the best looking games this gen, and it has no install and no loadings, and still manages to have a rock solid framerate and very few instances of texture pop in. Impressive to say the least

Also has great gameplay and great story. It's only downside is it's length, but besides that it's a great game.

Tomb Raider looks fine, remember it is multiplat. No multiplat can compete with exclusive first party.

Damn though few games can come close to uncharted. KZ2 and Gears are the only close ones.

Uncharted 2 will amazing.

Uncharted is still one of the best looking console games on the market.

ND really put some effort into making this and it shows - graphically this game is just phenomenal.

It will be tough to improve on it, maybe throw in a bit of variety?

It was starting to get a bit repetitive until the uh..."surprise" at the end.

But then again, I still play it now and then to this day, and I'm still blown away.
