Super Mario Maker 2 adds online play, both competitive and cooperative. But according to Nintendo reps, you can't match up with friends online.
Although Super Mario Maker 2 on the Nintendo Switch received its final major update back in April 2020, it still occasionally receives a smaller update. The latest one follows on from an update in 2022 that addressed several issues.
Super Mario Maker 2 has received a new version 3.0.2 update more than two years after the last one, and patch notes are available.
The iconic red plumber have taken us everywhere, from another galaxy to New Donk City. Here are the best Super Mario games you can play right now.
I still say the series peaked with Galaxy. They've put out good stuff since then, but nothing really matched up.
Leave it to Nintendo to always screw up when it comes to online!
Jeez Nintendo...stop being so god damn proud and just use Microsofts/Sony's online as a template for your own
"Nintendo’s reasoning is that, with global leaderboards, the matchmaking for competitive play would be compromised if you could play with friends. That limitation also extends to co-op play as well despite those not being leaderboard driven."
It's literally just a few codes to disable leaderboards for both co-op and online with friends. This is a goddamn joke.
hmm.. that's really odd and disappointing. Come on Ninty.. wake up a little here. Why wouldn't we want to play with our friends online instead of some random person?
Disappointing? Yes.
Surprising? Not at all.
This is Nintendo after all. I've long ago come to accept that they are a fucking joke when it comes to online implementation for everything. They're so damn backwards it's almost hilarious.
That said, I'm still getting Mario Maker 2 day one. Game looks fun as hell.
