There are also zero standards for "video game journalism" and zero qualifications needed to become one. Anyone can start a website and start talking about video games.

There should be a system created. There should be websites that get a seal of journalism or something similar and only those websites should be looked at only. The rest should be put on google search page 243345433445. At these places, real journalists could be working only who actually went to school to be a journalist and have a degree in journalism.

The issue is that he's overreacting, and trying to make that kind of behavior ok. If people started making these kinds of complaints every time they saw a similarity between a monster and a disability/defect, then we'd soon be out of monsters in games. It's a fictional piece of work, it does not have a duty to please everyone and people need to stop treating games as such. The mutants in the game make you feel bad? Don't play the game, it's that simple.

This is a very poor excuse to criticise a game. And I’m all for game criticism.

Google the author. His picture is on linkin, he does not have a cleft lip or cleft pellet, he Probably did as a baby but it has been fixed. He has a scar, a small one you really have to look for, where his cleft used to be. Key word there being used.

This would be like someone who’s received laser eye surgery complaining about the depiction of people wearing glasses in the game.

A quick google for clefts finds; At 9-12 months of age, a cleft palate usually can be repaired. Plastic surgeons connect the muscles of the soft palate and rearrange the tissues to close the cleft. This surgery requires general anesthesia and a short hospital stay for recovery. -which, by the looks of it, is exactly what happened to Chris.

Also in the UK cleft is used commonly as a pretty mild insult. “Oh what a fucking cleft” or “you absolute cleft”. That could be seen as genuinely insulting to people with clefts, but it’s not.

This article is trying to make mountains out of mole hills.
