SEGA Ages has strong response overseas, but disappointing reception in Japan

According to SEGA Ages senior producer Kagasei Shimomura, the overseas reception to the series has been much higher than anticipated. Sonic, Out Run, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World have received an especially big response, particularly in Europe. Unfortunately, things aren’t going quite as well in Japan.

The main problem is they're releasing Genesis games that were re-released a million times already when they already know people want stuff from the Saturn, Dreamcast and 3D arcade games, Virtua Racing has gotten better reception in Japan than the other releases.

Looking at their release schedule, that situation isn't going to change any time soon.

I'd buy Quartet if they ported the arcade version to PS4.

Too many 8 and 16 bit games on Switch . Give me Saturn and Dreamcast games on PS4 please or PS5 .

The Genesis itself was always more powerful overseas than in Japan, so this is to be expected
