Ubisoft nailed this reveal, nice long gameplay vid not just CGI, gameplay looking like a nice step above Wildlands.

Ubisoft is the publisher to beat. With Odyessy, Division 2 and now this.

Angelin2242d ago

Not impressed. Maybe it’s just me, I also find these types of movies cheesy.

seanpitt232242d ago

Ubisoft games are mostly just average downgraded experiences that are forgotten about soon after release.

fiveby92242d ago

I can't speak for all Ubisoft games, but I can say that The Division 2 is well above average as a shooter / looter.

Unspoken2242d ago

Way too much filler, not enough substances. If they could just reverse it and go back to when they first started developing.

DaDrunkenJester2242d ago

The gameplay was obviously heavily scripted. I doubt you'll find yourself in those kind of circumstances where you're getting shot at and have to run through the woods all movie style like that. Then have to cover up in mud to avoid being detected... I highly doubt any of that will actually happen, but it was technically still real gameplay, just heavily scripted gameplay.

monkey6022242d ago

It's never going to look anything like that reveal. Look at the Wildlands gameplay reveal vs what we got. Very different products. Ubi are notorious for it.

I also though the reveal for this was incredibly boring

Ju2242d ago

Could be a glimpse what next gen will look like.

badz1492242d ago

@Bane

LOL are you new to gaming or something? That is just standard Ubisoft reveal stuff. You will never get that kind of product when it released later. I thought after Watchdog, Division, Wildlands, The Crew, etc. this gen, you would have learned about this already

Thunder_G0d_Bane2242d ago

I don’t know what video you were watching the visuals weren’t that great so I definitely see that launching as is.

Odyssey and division 2 looked just like their reveals so I’m pretty sure Ubisoft has learned from the watch dogs and division 1 fiascos.

Ju2242d ago

This is a level above AC. Look at reflections, detail of character model, environments, etc. Not possible on current consoles.

Man....just give me a sequel to Splinter Cell: Blacklist....!!!

Inzo2242d ago

With Michael Ironside of course.

-Foxtrot2242d ago

So another open world co-op/online focused game where you rely more on doing the same type of missions over and over in some kind of grind but it's okay as you're playing with friends...your friends are the replay value.

porkChop2242d ago

Wildlands was a great game, and was a ton of fun. So I don't really see the issue here with Breakpoint being a more hardcore-oriented version of that experience.

-Foxtrot2242d ago

Wildlands was an alright game...just better then what Ubisoft has done in the online department.

KyRo2242d ago

It's because it's not what Ghost Recon was. Its another game that didn't need to go open world. It's another game using a name to simply push what should be a new game. It's another game using the same Ubisoft open world formula all it's open world games use.

staticall2242d ago

It's not a great game, though, it was ok. Whole plot was god awful and the last mission was just terrible (basically, nullifying your whole progress); shooting felt sluggish, like it had some delay (i was playing on PS4, maybe issue is with PS4 version); AI was dumb but super precise (especially if you're playing on Tier 1 mode, enemies had 100% accuracy, basically) and they gave you option to customize your AI teammates only a year after release; the fact that you have to collect every weapon and attachment in the game was pretty bad, because it was painfully slow due to map size (for example, you want to unlock everything for Vector, you have to find it in location A, then find suppressor, barrel, stock, bigger magazine, laser sight, scope, all located G-d knows where, usually very far from each other and you don't know the exact location, unless you interrogate lieutenants or find intel caches); skill tree felt too grindy and limiting (at some point i had a ton of skill points, but no gasoline, so i had to grind in order to unlock any skills; also, why "Grenade launcher" is a skill? Or "Advanced suppressor"? Or drone types?). Game only had like 2 enemy types - Santa Blanca and Unidad. And you always felt like you were in charge, even in the middle of the enemy base.

On a plus side, map is huge and pretty detailed, character customization is fun and i do like how you can customize your weapons (though it takes a ton of time before you can fully customize them).

To me, it felt like the game wasted so many opportunities, it could've been «Metal Gear Solid V: Part 2», instead we got «Metal Gear Survive» without the "Survive" part.

P. S.: I do like what i saw in the trailer, they fixed a couple of issues i have with Wildlands, but it's Ubisoft, they might release the game without anything they shown in a gameplay trailer, with a ton of new "time savers".

REDGUM2242d ago

@Foxtrot
That's a good thing right?
Most who play online like to play with friends.
Or are you being negative?
Car racing games are the same formula.
First Person Shooters use the s same Formula
Adventure games
Open world sandbox games
Etc etc

If you like a particular game/style you will more than likely buy the next installment surely!

Rude-ro2242d ago (Edited 2242d ago )

But it also is heavily dependent on the grind.
Ubisoft is just “ok” with creating that repetitive grind.
I believe this game will be solid at its core...
I just lose interest fast because the rewards feel like a sideways grind rather than a climbing grind.
It is destinys pve experience but with no must have rewards, no raid style direction, etc...
If bungie can get mauled by a lot of players in comment sections...
then where does it put these type of games?
Making someone cross a map for 20+ minutes to do a mission is not adding to the game... it detracts.

remixx1162242d ago

He's saying that these games cover up their mediocre ass design and lack of depth, story, repetitive nature and overly obtrusive yet shallow grind with the fact that devs use the excuse that playing with friends as the cover up.

Lol look at bungie during their whole rise if Osiris debacle and how they claimed the real endgame was the experience you have with your friends.

Elwenil2242d ago

I am definitely interested. I really loved Wildlands, mainly for the realistic setting and the map, but I am disappointed with the fictional setting and the over the top looking enemies. Wildlands had just enough fiction and just enough reality to make a great game. This, I will have to wait and see if it turns out more like Wildlands, or more like a bad Michael Bay movie. Still, I like what I have seen as far as the gameplay and added features. Looks like fun, which is the whole point.

PlayableGamez-2242d ago

Ghost Recon does not work well with open world.

CDbiggen2242d ago (Edited 2242d ago )

As someone who loved Wildlands and played over 100 hours of it, I kind of agree. It was a constant frustration, especially in the multiplayer.

What We Want From Ghost Recon Project Over - The Guide Hall

As long-time fans of the franchise, here is what The Guide Hall would like to see from Ghost Recon Project Over!

Wow. That's a lot of games. Still no PSP, PS1, or PS2 titles though....................

RetroCaptainSteve962d ago

A bunch of Ratchet and Clank games though.

Eidolon962d ago

streamed. gross. I have a PS3.

CR7JUVE1897962d ago (Edited 962d ago )

Yeah, but they are only putting back what was originally on PS Now in the first place. This isn't worth the Premium Tier as of right now. They need to do a lot better on their legacy consoles titles

BABI-PANGPANG962d ago

Insane lineup! Was actually thinking of getting back into Skyrim and always wanted to give Division 2 a go but never around it.

Class_Viceroy962d ago

Umm if you want to “get back into” Skyrim wouldn’t that mean you already own it? I mean like 95% or the human population owns a copy of that game in some format.

I’m just confused as to how you’re excited to get back into it when you could literally buy the game for $5-10 for years now. The Division 2 has also been $10 for a while now.

Your excitement just seems a little inauthentic and cheesy. If you really wanted to play those games you could have by now and for dirt cheap.

BABI-PANGPANG962d ago

Haha alright, alright. Let me elaborate, sweety 😉

Last time I played Skyrim was back when it originally appeared on the PS3, so going back to it would feel like somewhat of a fresh experience, with better graphics ofcourse. Also never touched the DLC so that's a plus!

Since I have a full-time job and value my social life a lot, I don't have all the time in the world to try out every game I'm curious about. The Division 2 did spark my interest but since I was pretty disappointed by the first one I decided to give other games more priority. But now that I've got some time off from work and Sony is offering it through Plus, I might as well give it a shot. No way I'm able to finish it but that's ok.

Also, Im a big sucker for the old Kingdom Hearts games, so happy for anyone that's gonna give them a try.

Wether you agree with me or not, don't let it ruin your day, alright?

monkey602963d ago

Man PS Extra just isn't impressing me. I dont care that there's no big AAA games releasing day one on the service but the stuff they are adding is just old filler. I've played already.
Gamepass games might not all appeal to everyone but at least they give a broad mix of new games. Road 96, Echo Generation, Turtles, Streets of Rage, Signalis, Ghost Song, Somerville. They're all great additions.
Sony should have made some deals to bring the likes of F.I.S.T. RollerDrome and Inscryption to the service or games like them. Something of value.
I guess I got the wrong impression when they gave us Stray.

Eonjay963d ago

I feel the exact opposite. I have only played three of those games. I'm definitely taking advantage of this month.

monkey602962d ago

Good to hear. Hope you enjoy something you might not have otherwise

Eonjay962d ago

What you are saying makes sense for you because you have bought so many games. This isn't the case for most people. Services like this are great for finding and trying ges we might have been apprehensive about in the past. I finally get to try Ghost Recon, Earth Defense Force and KH 2.8

I understand your point of view tho.

gangsta_red963d ago

Echo Generation was an absolute blast to play. And I am enjoying Signalis at the moment, in between OW2 play. I definitely agree tho, the offerings for PS+ seem to be left overs from GP, they definitely need standout titles to make their service more appealing.

I guess if you don't have both consoles these would be some good games to play, but again, just as you stated, Sony should make more deals to bring games like similar to Stray to their service.

SurgicalMenace963d ago

There is another option; buy what you want to play instead of relying on a service to grant you access. All the games you mentioned are available for purchase. Sony is already granting a lot for only 120 yearly, that is equivalent to buying two games. Be grateful....

monkey602963d ago

I have bought those games. Well with the exception of Rollerdrome, I havent got that yet. And I have a library of over 800 games so you don't need to worry about my spending habits. I'm just saying the value just isn't there in the service for me. I find they do fantastic with the choices of games for PS Essential but Extra is disappointing and Premium is a joke. They really did just rebrand PSNow and there's no extra effort being made here. As it is, if my sub was up this month I wouldn't renew it

SurgicalMenace962d ago

Cool story bro, but I assure you that your spending habits are of no concern. While every person has their own taste, what stands out to me is the fact that you have 800 games but are complaining about what one serve offers over another.

I have well over 10k games but there is always an opportunity to discover and purchase more. Sony has one of the richest libraries acrossed several platforms so they don't need to offer more "appealing" games as they often just sell those. What sense would it make to give what's willing to be bought? GP has to appeal more because they're both losing market share and have a community of thrifty gamers. With a despondent economy of gamers you can't risk not offering everything to keep them engaged.

Crows90962d ago (Edited 962d ago )

For now. Stray was a day 1 release for instance. So was shadow warrior 3

shinoff2183962d ago

Fist looks incredible. Ive been waiting for a sale.

monkey602962d ago

It's a great game! I got equally excited for Clid the Snail but that was a dissapointment.

S2Killinit962d ago

Your opinion is the exact opposite of mine. I think the value of PSPlus is higher for my style of gaming.

nevin1963d ago

Sony needs to just come out and address the state of PS1/PS2/PSP classics to the public.

I paid $28 in June to test out the premium. But it looks like I won't be renewing for $120 in Dec.

shinoff2183962d ago

You do have a point. I want more classics. There loaded ps1 ps2 wise. Whats the deal. I still think the service is on par with gamepass where everything stands right now. But i need sone of those classic titles.

gleepot963d ago

PS Plus has been such a disappointment so far

Ubisoft's NFT Initiative Crashing and Burning is the Best Case Scenario

Ubisoft Quartz and its collectible NFTs have struggled to gain much traction with gamers, and that may be a good thing for the gaming industry.

They really do try everything.

Relientk771234d ago

I don't think Ubisoft are going to get it through their fat thick skulls either way, even with the incredible amount of backlash they've been getting for this.
