Final Fantasy VII (Xbox One) Review | In The Game

In The Game: "Who is this release for? Too little has been improved to justify a purchase for old fans. For the new generation, or just gamers who have never played it, this Final Fantasy is not very accessible."

These reviews seem to think they have to add something new to warrant a good score, if not they just stamp a mediocre score on to it.

Whilst new content is always appreciated it, the fact they don't add new content doesn't mean it's a bad game video game journalists -_-

From his point of view whats the point? This game might be for less than 1% of the xbox fanbase... even if he gave it a 10 it wouldnt have mattered much

AnubisG2258d ago

I'm guessing that whoever wrote this wasn't even alive when FFVII was originally released.

paintedgamer19842257d ago (Edited 2257d ago )

He probably wasnt but that doesnt make his qualms any different or less important. He makes valid points. This is my fav ff game and i cant even get past the circle, triangle, square models and everything else that has not aged well. Great if you want to disagree but ask any gamer born after 1995 (prob 75% of gamers gaming today) what they think about ff7 and i gurantee most will think this way simply off how it looks, forget how it plays. And as sad as it is, those are the gamers these gamers are catering to. Not the hard core

luckytrouble2257d ago

I actually don't know what your comment is saying. It kind of sounds like an admission that FF7 doesn't hold up so well without nostalgia doing some serious work.

It's worth noting that FF7 came out the better part of 22 years ago (over in Japan). There is a steadily growing population of legal adults that totally missed the PS1 and probably even a good chunk of the PS2 era. They're buying games now, and especially with the FF7 remake in the works, their views on what did or didn't work in FF7 are just as important as those of nostalgic fans since their sales are also on the line going forward.

I can't read this but isn't it just FFVII playing in an emulated state?

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit123123111d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

fr0sty321d ago

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle321d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
