Is it time for EA game developers to move on from the Frostbite engine?

The Frostbite engine developed by game developer DICE is loved by fans for its ability to render industry-leading visuals — however, for developers, it's extremely difficult to work with. Is the Frostbite engine more trouble than it's worth?
