Nice to see a review that isn’t bending over for Nintendo and acting like it’s a real VR device. However, one small error “as the basic set only costs $40/£35, which gives the Switch the cheapest VR option on the market by a wide margin.”

You can get google cardboard or a plastic headset for your phone for much less and they support a lot of games and experiences, as well as VR video streaming and even 3d stereoscopic movie watching. Labs looks like a gimmick for a short burst of fun, you can do a lot more with a mobile phone for much less though - at a higher resolution as well.

And before anyone corrects me and says you need to buy a phone... you need to buy a switch as well, don’t forget that :)

Oh yeah, on your phone you have a wide variety of VR apps that you can choose through. Not to mention streaming VR por... *cough* I mean vr 360 degree stadium events and all sorts of stuff. You can also pair a bluetooth controller to it for some games as well.

"Oh but think about the children", yeah there are a ton of VR things for kids. My 5 year old daughter loves the dinosaur ones.

Your wrong, I have one, and its great. Google cardboard is garbage, compared to this. Having Mario reaching out at you preforming tricks, is too cool. Mario looks fantastic in VR. Also, Breath Of the Wild, VR, cant wait. I will, definitely buy a Switch Pro, if they bump the resolution up to 1080p, or more. They need a strap for this though, and that being said, I think that may be uncomfortable, after a half hour or sooner. That is fine, I don't really like long VR, sessions, as its hard on the eyes.

now who would have thought that clueless nintendo delivers a subpar experience. now i‘m really surprised.

It was imaginative, creative and unique. But ultimately, just another Nintendo gimmick. Tech demos.

They dabbled in it, made high profits on what is basically, expensive paper. AR Mario Kart will be following right behind it and Labo VR that they didn't fully support. Because the RC Kart only works for one game. Just like most of the Labo.

Power Glove and Virtual Boy will have a new friend in the closet to sit next to that eventually, will getting trashed or donated.

They were tech demos sold with pieces of cardboard. Anyone could see this wasn't anything more than just a one off thing
