Is Borderlands Coming To The Switch?

When Borderlands news was being dolled out the other day, I had the typical gamer response… where is the Switch version? I know that this is such a broken record at this point that we couldn’t even glue the pieces back together, but people say it so often for a good reason;

I thought the Vita port of Borderlands 2 was pretty decent, I think Borderlands would play even much better on Switch.

Profchaos1898d ago

It was a really impressive release for its time possibly one of the biggest world's I played on the switch

Pastemaniak1898d ago

It was until you had to fight Bloodwing. The game was incapable of not crashing from that point on. Borderlands 2 on the Vita was the first broken game I bought and the first one not even Gamestop wanted back.

I enjoyed it but man it struggled badly at some parts in the game, which isn't unexpected due to the Vita's power. Switch would have no issues with it assuming it's not a half-assed port

Just go straight to part 2, great game.

Makes sense. The bigger question is borderlands 3 coming to the switch?

EddieNX 1898d ago (Edited 1898d ago )

Would be no problem with its cel shaded visuals.

Segata1898d ago

It's such a misconception that just because it has cel shading doesn't mean demanding. We don't know if it could run on Switch. It's far to early to make claims.

EddieNX 1898d ago

It's also common knowledge that cel shared games are no way near as demanding as realistic games.

Vegamyster1898d ago

That's mainly due to the assets usually being a fair bit below other games, flatter textures, simple geometry, less LOD ect, no ones really made a cell shaded game that's pushed hardware from a technical level which is more of a budget friendly choice in most cases, the closest game to it would probably be Borderlands 2 on PC with Physx maxed out which was impressive but quite taxing.

Borderlands 3 might be the exception to this, there is no guarantee it could run smoothly on the Switch, especially if it's a massive world rather than sectioned off areas like in the previous games.

TheCryptKeeper1898d ago

Yes, with a maximum of 3 enemies on the screen at once.

quent1898d ago

So the PS3 and Xbox 360 could only handle one enemy on screen at a time ?

TheCryptKeeper1897d ago (Edited 1897d ago )

You're smoking something if you think the Switch is equal or is more powerful than PS3 or 360. Performance won't be much better than the Vita version.

Show me me the game on Switch that has the graphical quality of a God Of War 3 or Halo 4.

AK911898d ago

Probably but I think it'll be 30fps
