Boy. Be real funny if they pull a MS (CD3).

ravinash1863d ago

How much did MS invest into making this happen with the cloud?
And then just a few years later, it can all be done on the local PC.

Godmars2901863d ago (Edited 1863d ago )

The point is that MS talked up the tech years before it was ready, then delivered a downgrade. Are *still* talking about potential where Google means to deliver.

And since such is the backbone of what Google is trying to do, even if all they're really talking about now are ports of current games...

Wait. This really doesn't matter, does it? Just so long as they show off tech demos like this, say to 3rd parties they can make such a game while never doing one themselves, never directly commit to do something that could bring their whole platform into question, they could probably get by with ports of AAA console and PC titles. The volume of games they're likely to have, the mobile mass-market quantity, will likely be such that few will question the quality. So something like this tech demo would be the promoted dream that never has to be realized.

We are so f**ked...

Can it be done by US$400 console on 2021/2022?

TK-661862d ago

Probably not. I don't think Epic has actually said what sort of tech this demo is running on so we'll still have to wait and see.

Darkborn1863d ago

Because Epic gave up on everything when fortnite became better than they could have dreamed of.

is any of this the cloudgine tech epic brought?

BlueBlue1862d ago

It does seem so similar to Crackdown 3's 2015 demo.

If the released version of Crackdown 3 represents this technology, it may be limited. Otherwise, it would seem that the contract between Microsoft and Cloudgine was broken.

mark_parch1862d ago

pretty sure crackdown 3 wasn't using cloudgine. I had heard Microsoft had to design their own tech after epic brought it, hence the huge delay and shit destruction in the final game

Wow! That is badass. WB needs to make this happen now.

WoodsRatesGames1088d ago

Right? Thanks for checking it out!

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1086d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

Gaming4Life19811086d ago

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

waverider1107d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1107d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1107d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1107d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1106d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1107d ago (Edited 1107d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1106d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1106d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Edit: i misread this.

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
